Leicester V Wolverhampton 9 Aug

Looool  ok - you believe what you want to, but you surely will admit that the 'only' league table is totally misleading?

However, it is only CORRECT and shows ACCURATE positions at the end of the season when all fixtures are done .. so why take any notice of it NOW?

I believe what everyone else does.

They look at the league table to see ACCURATELY who stands where and how many meetings teams have ridden to reflect how likely or unlikely they are to move forwards or backwards.

SKY correctly cover and update the League table after meetings so everyone can see where teams are and reflect on meetings in hand or running out of meetings to make a similar sort of suggestion to what you declare as accurate.

I wonder why Match of the day only ever show league tables and not the home and away difference to reflect THE only accurate table. I guess because not enough care about it.

3 too many though.

Thank god for Pawlicki, otherwise we would be adrift at the basement of the league without.

Totaly agree with you, Pawlicki has been a inspiration for Wolves this year

Fair play to Norrie Allen for his comments on the mike after the meeting - just stating what everyone is thinking.

Will be interesting to see if he is proved correct

Could anybody who attended the meeting tell me what the racing was like please ?

By far the best meeting I have seen at Leicester - probably 5 or 6 genuine passes which is 4 or 5 more per meeting than I have seen there in my previous visits.

Sorry but it isn't an accurate reflection by any means. It is only a guide at best, and certainly misleading.

If it was currently accurate it would show (for example) Coventry as 3rd in the league right now, and looking almost certainties for the play-offs IF they maintain form (mainly not losing any more points at home). Instead they are shown 6th (largely due to matches in hand) and no doubt IF they manage to get in the play-offs the shouty pair on Sky will be saying "once again Coventry have had a remarkable late surge to qualify" - but they've actually been almost nailed-on for most of the season!

Match of the Day (I presume you mean football) is totally irrelevant because teams mostly have had the same amount of fixtures thus the league is accurate. Also in football and indeed foreign speedway, there isn't the complex points scoring system we have in GB speedway where teams can get either 3-2-1 points at home or 4-3-2-1 away! This system makes a league based on match points totally misleading.

I agree not many people care about it, but they're only deluding themselves by putting faith in the basic league table as published.

Sorry, but its the other way around. Coventry on form alone should be 3rd and heading for the play offs. The league table says different.

If the cut off point suddenly changed tomorrow form would have no influence whatsoever , ONLY the up to date League table would count.

I know precisely what you are saying and it is a good way to look at it however i can look at the league table and work out myself who is likely (more or less) to be in the shake up and who is likely to miss out JUST by looking at the league table, that is no delusion and you disrespect others in there ability to work these things out for themselves FROM the accurate league table.

Good meeting last night, some close racing, Harris really trying and I don't think his score reflected his effort. Some good, genuine passing. Harris and Buz into turn 1 was scary, Harris hard under Buz but both raced well, thought it would end in tears, and Cook's pass on Thorssell down the home straight was breathtaking. Came from nowhere and shot past him, taking so much speed into turn 1 we didn't think he'd make it make it into 2. Great move. Not sure what happened to Tai in ht15 (dropped a chain?) but it would have been a more exciting race if he'd have been in it I'm sure.

Well done to the Lions and commiserations to the Wolves. Bit of bad luck on both sides but Wolves had theirs just when they didn't need it.

All in all, a good meeting. Races rattled through, very little messing about at the gate, one bad start but all straight back to the tapes and one extra grade following some rider concerns. Good crowd too, delayed start to get them all in.

Really good is my very unbiased view. :) I don't go very often and even my husband had given up earlier this season because of the processional racing, but I must say that match must rate as one of the best at Beaumont Park and certainly the best I've ever seen there.

Ok fair enough, you obviously look further into the published league table and make up your own mind by your own methods, and I'm sure others do too, but to look upon this table as the ABSOLUTE truth is a delusion, which I'm sure plenty of supporters don't appreciate.

And yes of course if the cut-off for the stupid play-offs was now then Coventry wouldn't make it but they are only 6th due to having less fixtures - their current form dictates otherwise and IF maintained until the cut-off then their true position will be realised.

I agree

From what I've seen this season probably the best meeting in ages, great result for the lions and half way thru would never have seen it.

Doyleys tactical ride turned the meeting on its head especially with PK looking unbeatable till that point.Have to feel a bit story for Wolves with Perry ef when leading and Tai in 15.Well done to Klindt thought he rode great also great to see the old man PK back to some form not forgetting Buzz riding side by side with Bomber for 4 laps, great race!

I think MOST supporters are able to read a league table and work out the possibilities, so you do some a disservice.

However reading some of the nonsense that some come out with i think you might have a point for the minority!

And my point about the League table being the ONLY gospel is proven by my example by the way!

The point about Wolves heading towards the bottom (or in your language ARE bottom!) if that happens i wont be surprised.

But at the moment i think there is hope to re-address the points imbalance.

Time will tell.

Best meeting I've seen at Leicester by a country mile, more passing in this meeting than all the others this season put together..if most meetings were like this who could complain?

The 13th heat was worth the price of admission on its own a great tussle between Buczkowski and Harris.

Apparently Norrie said along the lines of

We got lucky, can't go on giving the away team such a lead and can't rely on the boys in 15 doing it all the time, everyone has todo their bit.

Or words to that effect.

So no ground breaking stuff
