marko
Lakeside do have priority over the services of Ellis but they have told him "don't worry about turning up for this one, we are missing Kim so don't stand a chance of getting a point anyway" Never mind about what effect it might have on another promoters business, should not be surprised really, they often treat their own fans with contempt so they are not likely to hesitate doing it to fans of other clubs. orion
So did we mate! Last time there was a clash, our promoters let him ride (at his own request) for Ipswich. Not sure about why they get priority this time around. But you know us mate - we're Lakeside; the team that lets other promoters, riders, refs and even medical officials shaft us easier than a brass with a crack-cocaine habit. Lakeside have told Ellis he can ride for Ippo and also they choose to sign Kim even thou they knew this match was on the same night as his solo meeting in Sweden . The only people who have shafted Lakeside are Lakeside themselves Edited August 6, 2014 by orion

Its just another example of the rules being ignored though. Either there is a rule that agrees prioritisation or there is not. We have a rule so it should be stuck to, no ifs, buts or maybes. The only people who have shafted Lakeside are Lakeside themselves I would say it is the Swindon fans that have been shafted plus any Lakeside fans that might have intended going. Just as plenty of other fans have been shafted throughout the season because of absent riders. If it was a one off it could be excused but this is the worst season I can remember for teams turning up without a proper line-up. Speedway is shooting itself in the foot by so many under strength teams and guests without good reason. Feel sorry for Robins fans and can see a lot of them staying at home. We have a rule so it should be stuck to, no ifs, buts or maybes. Surely the rules that gives his parent club 1st call can decide if they want to have 1st call or not! It is baffling however if Ellis feels he is learning more in the PL (as he should) then Lakeside are doing right by there asset not right by the team! That would be an alien concept to the Poole management!

Jonny the spud
Lakeside would normally have first claim but from my own understanding this is a rearranged fixture therefore Ipswich have first call.
Steve0
I can't believe that people think that Lakeside is a team for the playoffs - they only have one recognised heat leader in Mr Watt - and we all know he blows hot and cold. If that team get into the playoffs then the EL has sunk lower than I thought!

To be fair no speedway for 3 weeks nice weather and School hols should bring in a decent crowd .. Can't see people being over worried by Ellis and Nilsson missing . E I Addio
I can't believe that people think that Lakeside is a team for the playoffs - they only have one recognised heat leader in Mr Watt - and we all know he blows hot and cold. If that team get into the playoffs then the EL has sunk lower than I thought! I said at the start of the season that the only team that could stop Swindon reaching the Play-offs were Swindon themselves and the fact that the two clubs are in a similar position has more to do with Swindon messing up than Lakeside performing well.. I still think the Robins could be not just in the play-offs but a serious threat if they get their act together especially if Simon keeps going the way he has done recently and Steve Worrall's roll continues, plus getting the track to suit the home riders. Lakeside have suffered because PK has not performed as an 8-point rider and I agree that all things being equal they look more out than in at the moment. Should have capitalised on Swindon's mistakes and had one foot in the Play-offs by now though and my gut feeling is the chance has gone. To be fair no speedway for 3 weeks nice weather and School hols should bring in a decent crowd .. Can't see people being over worried by Ellis and Nilsson missing . I hope so. All clubs need to capitalise on good attendances in school hols to get through without losing too much money. I can't believe that people think that Lakeside is a team for the playoffs - they only have one recognised heat leader in Mr Watt - and we all know he blows hot and cold. If that team get into the playoffs then the EL has sunk lower than I thought! Just done a reply to that but don't know where it went. Try again. EDIT : Its just appeared again ! YerRopes
I have watched Sky and Bet365 on and off and have only seen 2 reasonably good EL meetings - both from Belle Vue Anyway, having not been to a meeting all season (first time in years), a friend who hasn't been either suggests going to the Lakeside meeting.. I tell him the teams and with a 'f*** that', we agree to meet in the pub when the football starts... BTW... Congratulations to the forever cheating Pirates Give them the title and let the rest go for the PO's..

My first season without going to a meeting since 1975 & I think it's going to be a while before I go again. The sport stinks in this country & I didn't think it could get any lower until today but hey ho.
Steve0
I have been to one meeting this year and won't be going again until they improve the value for money! I have to say that I haven't missed it either having gone to Blunsdon for the best part of half my life (that's nearly 25 years)! I have to say that I haven't missed it either having gone to Blunsdon for the best part of half my life (that's nearly 25 years)! The powers that be just don't get it though & between the 3 of us that's a lot of money but more importantly a lot of meetings. A habit albeit enjoyable is easy to break for anyone.
noggin
I haven't been this year either and It's not down to lack of cash, I do miss my speedway but not in its current guise.
remembertheracers
Awful performance at Poole, half baked Lakeside team, a poor surface again at Blunsdon maybe? Think £17 plus petrol and programme is better saved. Said it all year - why did Swindon swap then World Under 21 Champion Janowski for Jason Doyle who has had 2 good years on loan while several Robins flop? Mad, mad, mad! Edited, forgot £1.50 for the pothole car park at Shabbey Stadium! And no more sign of a new stadium than we see in Reading. This is where the sport needs to wise up, the likes of you Crazy Robin, Yerropes and Steve not going is criminal really.I go every week more on habit than anything else, and i feel exactly the same as you too on the value for money issue.I know a couple of people who were as keen as me on speedway ,one picks his meetings these days and the other does not bother at all how many are there over the country who feel the same.? Starman2006
I note that Kyle Newman replaces Kim Nilsson for the visitors. Should be a straightforward three-pointer for the mighty Robins. You need 3 points tonight, otherwise your seasons over, with your upcoming fixtures, and re-arrangements.. Following his being knocked over by Kyle Newman at Poole last night Nathan has withdrawn from tonights meeting with injuries. Sorry, its speedway, not Table Tennis..
