MD
Wolbert and Birks are guesting for Sheffield on Thursday. I am trying to remain optimistic. Wolbert blew up on the line in ht15, what you get from him is anyones guess. Birks couldn't be any worse than he was tonight, it may not be all that bad! eric i
I think where Scunny missed the trick was last month in July they had 1.00 to play with average wise to replace Williamson and they didn't use it. It's ok carrying him at home because they get away with it but when the other guys aren't scoring away you can't carry anyone whose not going to score. No blame of this laid on Matt but as has been stated before the PL spot has come a year or two early for him. Could still replace Williamson with Simon Neilsen on 3.81 average he is proven 3 or 4 point rider.

Blantyre80
We beat a very poor Scunthorpe last night but the efforts from some of the team was excellent. 1. Victor Palovaara - Doesn't look ready for this level of racing as he struggled to perform against a team that were having a very poor match and if he can't do it in those circumstances he will really struggle against a team riding well. This signing is not fair on the rider or the team as it puts both under extra pressure a promotion who knew what they were doing would not have made this type of signing. 2. Theo Pijper - Has been excellent the last couple of matches but has spent has spent his whole time at No2. carrying the No1 and as Captain I would hope is complaining about that to the promotion. 3. Kevin Wolbert - In my opinion the poor opposition flattered him and he would not have scored as well against better opposition. Should not still be riding for us. 4. Anders Thomsen - Worked hard and is a good prospect for the future its unfortunate he is now landed with the job of carrying Wolbert as he did in heat 3. 5. Rusty Harrison - Excellent at home once again never gave up all night if he could just find the consistency he is missing he would be the heatleader we are missing. 6. Kasper Lykke - If only he could gate he would be great he keeps trying though and contributes some good points as he did last night. 7. Dimitri Berge - He seemed a bit out of sorts last night and had some bike trouble but we know he has the ability to come good.
Al Stewart
I think Scunthorpe have shown admirable loyalty to Birks (because of his injury last season) and Williamson (because of his inexperience). I think any other team would have dropped them before now. I'd say in a way that is admirable but will it pay off in the long run? I hope so for their sake. Scunthorpe really do things their own way and I've got a lot of time for them. The new boy looked better in Ht 13 but is clearly no where near the standard required of a No 1 which is not the lad's fault as stated it is down to the inadequate point scoring of the rider that should have been No 1 and was signed for that purpose but even he looked good tonight but the promotion should be able to see as we do that with him at No 1 it will cost us against better team's I'd like to see the rule revised to allow eg either of the top two average riders to ride at no. 1. This would avoid having inappropriate riders thrown into this position. The rule is meant to ensure that the big guns meet each other but obviously it isn't doing so here. I'm still pretty sure Palovaara will prove a good signing in the end.
Rider Replacement
Theres only so long you can carry any rider regardless of how much of a nice bloke they are. The paying supporters will soon lose patience with the blue eyed boys network. Scunthorpe have a good team, it's rare they all fire together, I hope they do soon. Lioness
surprised that no one has mentioned heat 15!I think there may have been a protest or two had the result not already been decided by then!
brylcream boy
I know people on here will be the first to correct me, but in my opinion very rarely do Scunny fans have a bad word to say about Rob or the team. OK, Williamson may not be the best reserve, but at home is never far off the pace. Ash Birks is usually in the points and trying his best. Rob is 100% Scunny, always entertaining on the mic, and most weeks the racing is excellent. When I read some of the abuse supporters give their own teams, Scunny are doing fine by me.
MD
surprised that no one has mentioned heat 15! I think there may have been a protest or two had the result not already been decided by then! Poor refereeing from the Dishcloth. Instead of waiting till things were getting out of hand with riders delaying the start he should have nipped it in the bud early on by warning all riders then excluding the piss takers. Scunny riders were warned 4 times for jumping the start. In ht15 I think the ref got frustrated with how long it took for the riders to line up, he put the green light on for a split second and sent the tapes up. Klindt wasn't ready, remained stationary and presumably was excluded for failing to race, though got his just desserts.
scunny1
Firstly congrats to the Tigers on their win, richly deserved and also their fans who made the few of us who made the 520 mile round trip very welcome. Tigers were clearly very determined and we, apart from those already mentioned, were not even at the races. A potential 8-1 for us turned into a 3-2 against, was the last chance to get back into the match, from then on any chance of points was gone. Final nail in the coffin a farcical heat 15, from a Referee who penalised us every time the rider anticipated the tapes going up. Tape rules and inconsistent Refs need addressing by the Management committee because the paying public and riders are being robbed. We had 4 hours drive home to discuss our bitter disappointment dissecting every heat. I am sure Rob also could not wait to get away from Glasgow and quickly move on , so it seemed the speed he passed us at just before Southwaite Services. Time to regroup, refocus and try to maintain a top 6 position at the cut off date. On last nights performance we have much to do.

I thought Klindt was distracted by the fact that Wolbert didn't move (having blown up). There was no real reason to stop it except that with the result decided it would have been better to see a proper race. It certainly qualified as an unsatisfactory start.
smod
Perhaps the referee was aware that two of the Scorpions have the reputation of being the worst (or best!) "rollers" in the league. Just desserts.
scunny1
Or perhaps the ref was just c**p.

Fully agree on the unsatisfactory starts, they should have been stamped down on much earlier. I had thought 5 were warned, thought at one stage they were trying to get one warning each! Don't referees normally have a word in the team managers ears after a couple? No one seems to have mentioned though that one of the track staff actually showed the red flag at the end of the first lap, if being totally objective I would say that would be a pretty good reason for a re run especially as Douglas slowed down at it. The referee seemed to miss that too. He seems to miss rather a lot

EC Rides Again
I would agree Scunny is a well run club and Godfrey has speedway at heart.Brilliant race track and entertaining. No one could argue with that ! Just gutting for Scunny fans that this team has so many good qualities but just cannot put a performance together away from EWR/Owlerton/EoES ! It's a good team on paper but like you say they can't get all the riders to perform on the same day, really Glasgow are there for the taking and you got stuffed.Thats Speedway though.
