Race Off 31/7

Recommended Posts

Why is it still only Hancock using the Golden tyre? He seems to be having success with it so why have a few others not jumped on the bandwagon?

I asked myself exactly the same thing, Shawn! I don't know what the difference is, but it may explain why he's "a bike length clear by the first turn"...

EDIT. Apparently "other riders have tried it and don't like it" according to Nicholls.

The stadium is empty. I still think it is wrong for a sporting point of view to see the host nation to the final, I guess to ensure a crowd for the final, the lack of atmosphere for the race-off is a result of that.

For the world cup final we want the best four teams there, as it happens Poland would have qualified anyway maybe, but the home nation should be seeded to the race-off, not the final if they must be seeded at all. That way all four teams in the final have raced and earned their place.

Why not just do away with the clearly unpopular race-off and go straight to the final after two qualifiers (two sides from each 'semi' qualify). Thus making the semi finals more cut throat. If the organisers are concerned about the home side not reaching the final, give them the 'easier' Semi...

I've read the rules and know that that rule applies to all 4 rounds. That's why the appropriate sentence begins with "Once the SWC Final Tournament has started...".

Wrong -hopefully Philip Rising will confirm at some stage that "once the SWC final tournament has started " means after round one and 2 -because it says also "as teams progress" they are allowed to change line-up-ie race-off and final.

The race off can be a great meeting but sadly it always needs the home nation to get a crowd.

The straight to the final idea is not great as the best teams will at least make it to the RO.

The home team has an advantage on home shale and should get to the final if they are any good.

Sad really that some countries just can't be arced to go and watch good speedway.

The plus side is it's more cut throat and better viewing :)

Go to 078.1.2 and you'll see that the tournament starts with Event 1 Practice, at which point 078.3.4 kicks in and the 30 minute clock starts.

Surely this should be a 2 minutes exclusion for the USA if they sent the wrong rider out,

My pet hate in speedway broadcasting, can anyone explain why, when an incident has occured in the race, the camera pans away from the riders involved after the chequered flag?! Is it some kind of PC nonsense? It's no good Tatum saying "it's quite clear there's some afters", when we can't bloody see it...
