stratton
I dont hate all thing Poole and yes I am generally anti-Poole because I think theres a lot to be anti-Poole about. I certainly don't like Middlo as a person (just from reading his twitter and comments like "it's what all kids do isn't it" when Ward took drugs and evaded the Police FFS!) and rate him very lowly as a team manager. We're constantly told he can turn poor riders into good but nobody has ever given me the name of a rider he's done that with. Yet I can give you the name of Jason Doyle. 4 seasons at Poole, going nowhere. Left to work with Rosco, then Morris and now Norris Allen and look at him. World Cup star. As for 4th, it's not great but look at it realistically, Who should we be beating and who should we be losing too. We are realistically not going to beat Poland, Denmark, Australia or a full Russian team (I actually think if Russia sent their best 4 riders they could win the SWC) but we should be scrapping with Sweden while beating the Czechs, Americans and Latvians. Last year we lost to the last 3 names teams plus Sweden, this year we beat them! Surely you can see how last year, finishing 7th was epic failure (to quote the kids) while 4th was sort of what we'd expect. What we have to do now is make sure we build on it. Don't go, "4th, yeah, thats alright" we now have to say, next year 4th is the minimum target but the year after we want 3rd and the year after the win. Be realistic, we're not going to win the SWC today or next year. Lets get a team, with King, Cook, Stea,d the Worralls, Lambert, Garrity etc out to Denmark, Sweden and Poland to race. Frankly even Germany and Italy would do - lets just try different tracks. Did you know Craig cook has raced 1 meeting outside the UK!!!! He should not be using the SWC to get that experience. He should be whoring himself out to German promoters looking for meetings out there each Sunday so he gets to try different tracks and then speaking to Polish clubs and offering his services in any challenge or individual meetings they have. 4th was an OK result. Rosco used his joker correctly (admittedly I would have probably put him in for Steads 2nd ride but minor thing really). I would have also taken Stead out of one of his last 2 rides and put Harris and probably even King in - at least they looked like possibly getting a point - unlike Stead who stood somewhere between little and no chance. Some good points SCB but i met Neil years ago and i found him to be a very nice bloke also i know he is very well liked by alot of the past and present riders. On Doyle i don't know where you are coming from on Neil regarding Jason. This bloke has always had ability but he has had horrendous injuries at times and now he is making up for it.If anything Rosco has made mistakes with Doyley he is our asset and would of been first on my team sheet yet was never picked. Starman2006
Are you telling me that Lambert would of done no better than King and Stead? also the great riders over the years got to the top by learning there craft taking a few knocks along the way and learning from it. Yes, Lambert would have been half the straight behind.. We havn't got the depth of rider. And Rosco's "so called" motivation skills are going to do no good whatsoever. As i said, we got through to the final with a bit of luck, but tonight was a completely different ball game. Tonight was the lowest Team GB final score in history. Tells a big story... So whether you have Neil Rosco or uncle tom cobby as manager, you will not see any better. Edited August 2, 2014 by Starman2006
XTC38L
I cant quote all posts but theblueboy is spot on if we were to drop King and Stead who would come in Cook? Kennett? Worrall? Barker? Bridger? We just have to accept the fact that we was always going to be the whipping boys tonight whatever team we put out. We done well just to get into the final and you always will be if you don't start bringing on the next generation of riders. Rosco picked the correct team for kings lynn but missed a chance to blood one or two youngsters in the final. The reality is they were never going to win tonight so why not do something that will give them a chance in the future
stevebrum
Lambert has potential...like Bridger...like Kennett...like Barker and where are they now? All of them touted the next best thing. Lambert is better learning his craft and stepping up in to Sweden and Poland when he is ready. He is very young and could well be a top class rider but putting him now could do more damage than good. Absolutely correct. It is the ONLY way a British rider will be able to break thru. The minute you choose the doubling up/down route you may as well say you lack the ambition and shouldn't even be considered for selection. Lambert seems to be doing things his own way. THANK GOD. He at least stands a chance then of succeeding! Yes, Lambert would have been half the straight behind.. We havn't got the depth of rider. And Rosco's "so called" motivation skills are going to do no good whatsoever. Tonight was the lowest Team GB final score in history. Tells a big story... At least Rosco got us there unlike Middlo with the same available riders.

stratton
Likewise. I`d have preferred we put Lambert and Kerr in last Saturday, or Garrity. Time is NOW to start the road to bringing on the next generation. Thanks to the EL these kids (who are good enough) have a platform to build a career on. In saying that the team Rosco picked did the business (last Saturday) but i do hope this 5 year plan than has been mentioned includes the next generation from now on. I watch great EL racing at Monmore most weeks - and the reserves races often are a highlight. Obviously that makes me wrong for dare suggesting its been a good plan because you don't find it interesting. By the way isn't `putting in a snide remark about the PL` (by me) any different to `putting in a snide remark about the EL (by you) ? Just saying. My dream is for the EL and PL to work together for the good of the sport will it happen i doubt it.?

MrMungo
0 + 0. It would have been interesting watching him trying to do worse King was on the pace, so it was at least a competitive 0! C'mon, I'm going to be positive here!

In the meantime he needs to brush up on those motivational skills, because clearly he couldn't motivate a cat to have a pee.

PHILIPRISING
THROWING young riders in at the deep end will achieve nothing unless there is someone there who actually knows a thing or two about riding to help them.
Starman2006
Rosco couldn't really change the team that won at Lynn. As for the next generation of riders I just cant see how they are going to do any better. They won't, plain a simple.
stratton
0 + 0. lucifer sam
No MJJ is a huge blooper by the Danish manager, this Danish side is not going to win. Mads over MJJ? What on earth. Easy Poland win.. Odds of 4/5 are great value!

No the year before and the year before under Middlo we got no where near the final ..you were told we could do better and we did because Middlo was useless .
