World Cup Final 2nd August 2014

Recommended Posts

Great meeting, some really good racing, I really enjoyed that.

Man of the meeting for me was Jason Doyle.

Last year I was routing for Poland, this year I was routing for Denmark. Just didnt like the advantage Poland had in the first 4 races - as if they knew how the track was prepared. When the others caught on and got the machines set up right then the real meeting started.

I dont like the Joker, but it proved its worth this time - the right team won, pity Australia didnt finish second.

Low crowd, love to know what is really going on in Poland as to why they seemed to have turned away from speedway - especially meetings like that.

Work it out mate, look at the scores, its not hard..

Starman, you're a betting man. When you looked at the 4 teams did you not think, Group class, Group class, Group class and selling plater?

That was the gulf in quality. It's about class.

We had 1 rider that would have got in all the other sides. Every other rider would have got in ours!

I think you are under selling Lambert's ability, i believe he would of been competetive also what he could of learned from being around the likes of Tai you can't buy that exsperience.

My only issue with using Lambert is he was poor in the Under 21 SWC semi-final.

In Denmark Poland and Australia, all group 1 class, in Team GB, id give them all 0-90 handicappers who's marks are still far to high.., Bar Tai who is Group 1 class. Problem is mate, how do you change that, in the long term you won't. Unless, as everybody on here has said, and the powers that be somehow don't seem to be able to grasp the system changes. The idea of the Draft system is good, in principal, but its not been thought out properly and should have been started 15 year ago. How many Teams could the aformentioned put out, and still walk all over us?

Great experience for him though, will bring him on leaps and bounds.

so by logic on here he will go unbeaten in it next year. :)

Be positive god you would have the likes of Stead riding for England in ten years time we have someone half decent yet you don't support him amazing really.

Jesus.. He comes all the negativity again!!!!

A weeks ago 90% of people were praising rosco and the team for the result at KL and reaching the final, which was an achievement in itself. A week later, like expected, we struggled in a final full of some of the best riders in the world. Some fans need to realise that GB are not as good as 15/20 years ago!

I'm proud of our boys, yes we struggled tonight but even being in the final was an achievement (which a lot of fans were saying after last Saturday). We didn't embarrass ourselves at all, we tried our best and that's all that can ask for. I think tonight proves we do need to try the youngsters BUT stead and king deserved their chance in the final no matter what anyone says, for their great performance at Lynn. Rosco has given us a better result than last season, he can now build on that. He's right about the test matches etc, and I think he'll definitely follow through with that, just depends if the BSPA are willing or not.

I'm fed up of the negativity and drivel I see people write. Get behind your country, or what's the point in supporting them? I've always said, moaning about things gets you no where, it's about staying positive through the tough times that will help us succeed, not moaning at every thing that happens. Who wants to make a change to things when all they would do is receive in criticism?!

One final thing, Tai Woffinden is British! If he wanted to be an Australian he would of not rode for team GB and he wouldn't ride in the British final. He has won it twice, and said countless times how much it means to him to win it. Put it this way, if you were born In England and spoke English but moved to Spain and spent years living their, would you class yourself as Spanish or English?

I am not going to get into a silly argument here. Just join in with the convo and stop with the silly KKS suggestions. I am asking you politely

As to your reply can you see Lambert being competitive against Hancock Nicki P Ward Hampel?

I can see him being competetive against the likes of Manzares, ect) don't you?and to be honest i couldn't care less if you were Rolf Harris or KKS

I dont hate all thing Poole and yes I am generally anti-Poole because I think theres a lot to be anti-Poole about. I certainly don't like Middlo as a person (just from reading his twitter and comments like "it's what all kids do isn't it" when Ward took drugs and evaded the Police FFS!) and rate him very lowly as a team manager. We're constantly told he can turn poor riders into good but nobody has ever given me the name of a rider he's done that with. Yet I can give you the name of Jason Doyle. 4 seasons at Poole, going nowhere. Left to work with Rosco, then Morris and now Norris Allen and look at him. World Cup star.

As for 4th, it's not great but look at it realistically, Who should we be beating and who should we be losing too. We are realistically not going to beat Poland, Denmark, Australia or a full Russian team (I actually think if Russia sent their best 4 riders they could win the SWC) but we should be scrapping with Sweden while beating the Czechs, Americans and Latvians. Last year we lost to the last 3 names teams plus Sweden, this year we beat them! Surely you can see how last year, finishing 7th was epic failure (to quote the kids) while 4th was sort of what we'd expect.

What we have to do now is make sure we build on it. Don't go, "4th, yeah, thats alright" we now have to say, next year 4th is the minimum target but the year after we want 3rd and the year after the win. Be realistic, we're not going to win the SWC today or next year. Lets get a team, with King, Cook, Stea,d the Worralls, Lambert, Garrity etc out to Denmark, Sweden and Poland to race. Frankly even Germany and Italy would do - lets just try different tracks. Did you know Craig cook has raced 1 meeting outside the UK!!!! He should not be using the SWC to get that experience. He should be whoring himself out to German promoters looking for meetings out there each Sunday so he gets to try different tracks and then speaking to Polish clubs and offering his services in any challenge or individual meetings they have.

4th was an OK result. Rosco used his joker correctly (admittedly I would have probably put him in for Steads 2nd ride but minor thing really). I would have also taken Stead out of one of his last 2 rides and put Harris and probably even King in - at least they looked like possibly getting a point - unlike Stead who stood somewhere between little and no chance.

spot on mate. rosco comes 4th middlo 7th and we are anti poole! love it when people don't use facts and talk out their arse

Nothing like being Anti poole, eh mate. Because in your case thats what it boils down to. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yes, Lambert would have been half the straight behind.. We havn't got the depth of rider. And Rosco's "so called" motivation skills are going to do no good whatsoever. As i said, we got through to the final with a bit of luck, but tonight was a completely different ball game. Tonight was the lowest Team GB final score in history. Tells a big story... So whether you have Neil Rosco or uncle tom cobby as manager, you will not see any better.

absolute crap! Middlo 7th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROSCO 4TH can you read?????????????????????//
