CUFC_Brummie
Great final, last heat was an absolute cracker, shows just how good the Danes are that they probably didn't have their best 4 out their tonight in hindsight but still managed to win it, albeit with the help of the joker. Wish they'd make the World Cup every two years, it doesn't quite have the buzz it should do, and by making it every year you're almost forcing the hand of most nations and not allowing them to give track time to their youngsters. Make it every two years and schedule plenty of test matches in between, but of course that won't happen because test matches aren't as marketable as the World Cup. Don't have a massive problem with the joker myself, but 6 points is ridiculous, if they're going to have it then it should be at least when 10 points down, and not be allowed to use with a tactical sub at the same time. As for us, no surprise where we ended up at all. I didn't have a massive problem with the 4 picked this year, but I think now that it is time to chance our arm with some of the younger guys in future years, especially if we keep getting a semi-final at home which will be far less demanding. King and Stead hard as they try just aren't quick enough and never will be, get Lambert and at least one of the other younger riders in with Woffy and Harris next year, and then phase Harris out the year after for another youngster. In the meantime we need to be getting a lot more track time on the continent and a lot less of our guys sticking in the lower divisions in England, but regardless of Rosco's ideas, Wizzer's ideas, or Woffy's "statement" towards the BSPA, I just don't see it happening, it will be the same old for years to come. Wolfsbane
I thought he pick the best side and got are best placing in years .. Nothing embarrassing about that . I don't agree but at least you give a reason. Personally I've had my fill of seeing Stead, Harris, King et al bumbling around and getting nowhere. If, as some say, we're at the same level as the USA at least they gave Ruml a run out with a view to him getting experience for the future. stratton
I believe there are people involved in British Speedway who have good ideas and have a desire to do whats right for the sport. The problem is convincing the promoters who remain so set in their ways and prefer the sport to be amateurish and low-key Spot on and Rossiter might have to have thick skin to carry on if his wishes are not met.? stevebrum
He's more Aussie than British as well Ridiculous. All those people who give Middlo s... over the months now realise this job is a near impossible one Rosco got us to the final. Middlo just assumed we weren't good enough to make it. Big difference. Rosco took us to the final with the same riders Middlo said weren't good enough. Enough said.

george.m
What a thrilling climax. Great speedway. Can't help but think Kolodziej was the only person who didn't see HKI working up to that great move on the last bend. Well done HKI and Denmark. DSC67
Why are people moaning about the joker? Poland won using it in 2013 robbing Denmark Denmark won using it in 2014 robbing Poland Because its a crap rule that should be scrapped at all levels of speedway nothing but a gimmick , the only way a rider should get double points is if they actually win the race, awarding double points to a rider for finishing third with other rider yards behind him his nonsense
Bagpuss
Tonight proved more than ever that we need to get our riders appearing abroad a lot more than they are now. Stead and King looked very naive at times but I feel for them, not their fault they are among the best four available and its not Rosco's fault either. Hopefully the five year plan involves our youngsters riding on the continent and that Rosco gets more support from the BSPA than Rob did. As for the meeting fantastic last heat from Puk, top class. Feel a little for Poland but thems the rules. Australia disappointing apart from the excellent Doyle. Danes really ought to have picked MJJ but really pleased for Mads. Did you not exspect to put up a bold show at Kings Lynn? i did no Holder and some of the other riders border lining on no more than PL ability.

george.m
Is it just me or was there a World Cup final taking place tonight with some thrilling riding? Or did I imagine it and Eurosport just showed a meeting featuring only a GB team that came last? FFS the GB post mortem has started before the medals are around the riders necks. Heads up own a4ses or what? Edited August 2, 2014 by george.m

Wolfsbane
They gave Ruml a go because 30 year old Fisher was injured and they have nobody else. Who do you think they left out to be able to use Ruml? No one, it was forced on them of course. The point being that next time Ruml will have more of an idea of what's required. He may do no better but at least they're trying to plot a way forward, albeit by accident. We meanwhile plod along with the tried and failed.

We've let our riders stay in the comfort zone for too long now. How is bullying riders in the PL going to improve the likes of King, Stead, Barker and Garrity? Sadly, when you have people like Len Silver saying hes "quite content" with the state of British Speedway, then what chance do you have though? Exactly. We've allowed our riders to get in the comfort zone. What exactly is Danny King going to learn by bullying riders in the PL? It almost seems as if the BSPA actively discourage our riders from going overseas. And when you have the likes of Len Silver saying he's "content" with the state of British Speedway, then you don't hold out hope of things changing soon. As for the meeting fantastic last heat from Puk, top class. Feel a little for Poland but thems the rules. Australia disappointing apart from the excellent Doyle.
