You make me laugh, over 21000 post and you have not learnt that if you make comments to get reaction, then don't be suprised if the replies are not to complimentary.

Why not just grow a pair.

Have you not learnt in 21,000 posts that if you reply to brum it just strings it out further because of his inabilty not to have the last word!

Re-iterate my hopes that Andre isn't hurt too bad.

Apart from that I thought the meeting was great entertainment, with some excellent races.

Slightly surprised that Nigel and Kelvin talked so much about the World Cup given that it is on a rival channel.

I thought Simon Stead came across really well, but why do we have to put up with someone else who hasn't got a clue interviewing the riders?

Any chance we can move these boring, arguementative posts to a thread so us fans who want to chat about the speedway can do so?! Give it a rest will ya!

Luckily was working up near Sheffield today so popped along to watch the meeting. Really enjoy my trips to Owlerton, a lovely stadium and seems the new promotion are really trying hard to make a success of it, which can definitely be done. All the facilities are there for it. I thought was a very good meeting and another good one for sky to be at. The track is super fast, and the big bends gives the riders chance to sweep round in the dirt. Some good close racing at times and Sheffield were unlucky to end up being beaten by 12 points, injuries really seem to kill their chances, although young Taylor Poole was superb. Meeting certainly over shadowed by Andre's injury and really wish him all the best, as well as Olly Allen.

Enjoyed that thoroughully, been a few seasons now since I last went to Sheffield but it's still as good as I remember it. Some cracking races, and a whole new experience watching my team from the comfort of my sofa. A meeting that both sides can be proud of.

I also echo what most people have said with regards Andre, terrible looking crash at the worst possible time and place on the track. All the best to him.

I know Chris Louis has his critics, but he's not that bad, surely?!

Firstly and most importantly I hope Andre Compton is ok after his fall last night, and that Olly Allen is back asap after his fall to.

Sheffield don't have their problems to seek, carrying so many injured riders was their un-doing last night, even for incredible efforts of Taylor Poole. But IMO this was another excellent advert for PL speedway and it showed again what an excellent track Owlerton is.

I went to Owlerton for the first time last night, and was very impressed by the stadium, and all the facilities. Someone it trying very hard to make visiting there a pleasant experience, from the kids being able to get their face painted, to a nice bar area, and restaurant with great views of the track, not to mention reasonably easy views of the pits area. The whole place had a good feel about it.

Best wishes to andre after that sickening crash. He was having his best meeting of the season and looked like the old andre.Well done to our promotors for making a huge effort again last night, but once again if it wasn't for bad luck we wouldn't get any luck at all.Taylor did his bit to keep us in the meeting for so long and Ben Wilson dropped off after a great heat 1.Lawson battled hard but nobody can replace steady at owlerton. The other 3 really let us down when clearly not fit and this cost us in the end. They probably wouldn't have rode had the cameras not been there but they didn't showcase themselves well due to been injured.Fingers crossed for andre, lets hope we hear some good news about his injuries.

Reflections on last night's tv:

Sincere best wishes to Andre, that injuries are not too serious and for a quick and complete recovery

Good to see Owlerton on tv, made for some good racing (without top names!!!)

Impressed with smart appearance of track staff - could other tracks follow suit

Plus marks to Sky for not re-showing the heat 14 crash, as the outcome was not known at the time

Big minus marks to Sky, though, for their 2013 Highlights fill in, which seemed to major on spectacular crashes - not a great choice for that moment (oh, and 4th is spelt fourth, not forth, as in the clip!!!)

And another minus for another dreadful interviewer - not Chris Louis! - where do Sky get them?

Slightly concerned about the young man and his accompanying adult on the dog track, waving at the camera whilst peering over the fence 'ghouling' at Ollie Allen lying injured on the track, his parents must be proud ! (hopefully not). What were they doing there, surely a restricted site?

Totally agree, what a total pri ck i hate to see that

First best wishes to Andre and Olly ,Andres looked really awfull and well done to Sky for not showing a re run

Felt a bit flat after the crashes because they put a bit of a damper on what was a really good meeting, just shows that when you invest a bit of money, time and effort into a track, speedway can be so entertaining

The Rebels were there for the taking last night i thought but Sheffield carrying riders who clearly were not fit, admire them for having a go but in the end they let there fans down by riding last night

Learning curve for the new manager and promotion i guess

On the whole ,well done to Sheff for putting on a great show!

After the first few races I thought Oh here we go again - boring. Delighted to be proved wrong after that. I've been a fan of PL for some time now, you don't need superstars to provide good racing and last night proved it. There was some brilliant racing, as someone else said track staff looked smart, even the empty back straight looked clean and tidy (perhaps doesn't close up but it did on TV).

Two horrible crashes and I, and probably most others, thought the worst but Olly Allen has tweeted this morning that he is sore but OK and I've seen posted elsewhere that Andre Compton is OK and awaiting results of CT scan. Hopefully that's correct and neither have serious injuries. Someone must have been looking out for them last night if that's the case. Wishing a full and speedy recovery to both of them.

Sounds like AC is not too badly injured which is great news ,when he was struck by the rider following( who did everthing he could not to hit AC) I thought the worst as everyone else did .Hope to see him back on a bike in the near future ,the way he was riding last night proved IMO he was right to return to the sport.

ANDRE Compton, the hugely popular Sheffield racer, has been talking to doctors in hospital after his horrifying high speed crash in Monday’s home defeat by Somerset at Owlerton.

Compton, who made a comeback from retirement last year, was in flying form for the Tigers in front of the Sky Sports cameras in a hugely entertaining meeting.

But disaster struck on the final bend of Heat 14 when he was leading the race, only for his chain to come off which sent him flying from his machine and he was then struck by the rider behind him.

Compton was taken from the track in a neck brace after a long delay – but early suggestions provide hope there may be nothing too serious with his injuries.

Sheffield promoter Damien Bates said: “Whilst we are not totally sure on Andre’s exact condition, he was talking OK in the hospital, but the last update I received is that he was waiting to see a doctor for a full and proper check up – we hope early indications prove correct that there is nothing too serious.”

Sheffield go to Somerset for the return tonight with three guests and rider replacement.
