OveFundinFan
Comparing the old one off world final meeting with the modern day GP series is like comparing chalk and cheese. The one off certainly had a fantastic atmosphere. The crowd was buzzing, so electric. And whoever won had to have a very good night, notable by the fact some who should have been the champ that year didnt do it on the night. The GP series does have crowd excitement to some extent (only done Cardiff) and, barring injuries, I think the best man over the season is the true world champ. It can be difficult to be on top form all season, and each rider seems to have good and bad days, but overall its right. And of course, more of the "world" gets an opportunity to see the top 16 riding together. I love both styles.
Bruiser McHuge
The one off World Finals were great...fantastic atmosphere and everything...but they were a product of their time..certainly a good number of the field were virtually outclassed and others were out of contention after a couple of races ....and the latter world finals were a shadow of in its heyday...Havvy winning for instance....they had had their day by the end I think and the GP series is a major step forward and was much needed

customhouseregular
I know I'm a boring old fart, living in the past and viewing the world of speedway through rose-coloured glasses, but having been at every Wembley Final through the 60's and 70's and the great 1981 Final and then going to Cardiff last year, I know which I prefer!. I don't have half the experience of yourself - but I totally agree with you.
