Arena Essex V Kent Kings.

There doesn't seen to be a thread either on here or in the national league page. Looks like a good meeting with a reduced admission price. Hopefully a good turnout to see some young riders battling it out.

So not content with already being the joint most expensive Elite League track to attend (adult with program) they have now set their stool out to be the most expensive National League track in the country and this is not even a proper official fixture, just a challenge match.

Even more so unjustified when so many of the support likely to be attracted to this meeting will be South of the river and therefore having to pay toll charges before they even get in the stadium.

I've heard speedway promoters nationwide get blamed for many things by some people posting on the BSF over the years, but I think you've created a first! You seem to be inferring in your post that the Lakeside promotion should further reduce the admission price for this meeting because of the costs of using the Dartford crossing to get to the track from south of the River Thames, set by the French firm that run it. You don't HAVE to use the Dartford crossing do you? You could use the Woolwich Ferry, the Rotherhithe Tunnel or the Blackwall Tunnel for example, all of which are free but I suppose you'd blame Lakeside for the cost of extra fuel used going via any of those!

All i am saying is a little bit of common sense would not have gone amiss, its a one off event and you want to encourage people to come and watch, the pricing structure should be realistic, i have researched what other clubs charge and if you add in the standard £3 for a program that would make it the most expensive entry cost for a meeting of this standard and in some cases it would be up to £3 more than what other NL clubs charge all in and this is only a challenge match!

I know they have costs to cover etc and i am sure this will be well attended and good luck to them but i can't help feel they are taking the loyal fans for granted a little by charging what they are.

If you feel its a fair price then fair play to you, we all have the freedom to choose how we spend our money.

Indeed we do ALL have the freedom to choose how we spend our money and I full accept that, of course, it's entirely up to you whether you attend tomorrow or not.

My own feelings are that I envisage a closely fought match between two teams of roughly equal strength (at least on paper but we all know it's on track that matters!) with each side containing a rider riding in this year's Premier League and not in the NDL. Other riders I'm really looking forward to seeing in action in the match apart from Adam, Ben and club asset Jack Kingston, are the trio of Arron Mogridge, Connor Coles and Luke Chessell - the only trouble being I'm old enough to have seen their respective dads race goodness knows how many times!

Adult admission HAS been reduced and the admission cost for ALL children of school age will be just a quid the press release goes onto state. I don't know but I suspect we won't have a 'full monty' normal programme and there'll be a reduced cost edition for those wanting to buy - it's not compulsory to do so is it?

Money will still have to be found to cover stadium hire, the cost of medical cover, insurance, referee's fee and other fixed costs.

I'm looking forward to it and would hope that there are a lot more other folk who are too.

I don't think Claret was being unreasonable at all. Its a nothing meeting between a team that doesn't exist and another team that has had to look elsewhere to make up their team. Given the difficulties in getting to Arena on a friday night it may well have been an incentive to set the price accordingly. Sorry Bryn but the comments about not having to use the Dartford tunnel is pretty daft and obviously mischievous. Some people who continually knock down sensible comments because they challenge those who run our once great sport become tiresome having such a one way blinkered view. I praise when praise is due like sunday having free entry at Eastbourne but there are times when Promoters get it wrong.

See my subsequent posting to the one you've quoted "westhamboy66". I stand by what I said and accept you obviously don't agree.

A nothing meeting ??

Wow. Your cup is not only half empty, it's got a bleeding crack in it.

Supposing the riders all thought that too? My son's gonna come from near Bournemouth to rode tonight. I'll be there supporting him and the boys.

I'd urge any Lakeside regulars with an interest in lower level speedway to attend. A good crowd could be the encouragement the management need to field a team in the NL next year. (In addition to the EL side of course.)

Agree with Brice the management will be gauging the support for this meeting to see if it is viable to run national league team here next season If you havent seen national league racing before it can be very entertaining ..Think ? there could be racing every week at Arena next season if this is sucsessfull tonight...
