jrm
The Riders realise that the Sport is just about finished in the UK, so it's really just a good way of earning some spending money, they now treat the sport with the same attitude that the promoters treat them, picking and choosing Meetings, looking at a track and deciding it's just not worth the risks involved, the Promoters have brought it on themselves, it's a shame but life moves on, Speedway and the Cinema in the high street were the places to go once upon a time, but those times have long since gone, the Cinemas moved into the 21st century with multi point complexes etc, and have survived, Speedway has brought in Fast track, pmsl. also i think half the problem is that people do not know there is speedway at a track not too far away. the sport needs to attract new fans from petrol head types who will enjoy the racing. i give out the rye house leaflets at many motorcycle meets including high beech and people always say 'i did'nt know it was still going' a bit of marketing is needed. crescent girl
On Bandits' website: Â Despite the defeat, everyone at Edinburgh was delighted to see Matty Wethers in the pits, lending moral support to his team-mates. Â Still very stiff and sore, Matty admitted that any attempt to get back on board the bike this week would be impossible -- but has set his sights on rejoining the rest of the lads for the home meeting with Redcar on August 30th! Â Â This is good news indeed, putting the Speedway Star's suggestion that he would be sidelined 'indefinitely' into perspective. Â Now he needs to get his equipment replaced after those big crashes, with the Bandits Supporters Club holding a collection tonight for that very purpose. tocha
Agree with you to some extent, but you're not going to progress riding once a week. That's where we have suffered this year. Apart from the odd guest ride, most of our side are riding exclusively for the Rockets. Edward, Luke, Steve & Bunny all have full time jobs/businesses outside of speedway. It's really just a hobby for them. At least Garrity is getting on the track more often, albeit against mostly inferior opposition. Â Bunny was riding as a guest reserve for Glasgow at Workington last night. Scored 14 +2 from six rides. Why can't he put in that sort of performance for Rye House? Shadders
Absolute guff from most of em. Only Steve can hold his head up and say he gave it his best. Olly can be excused. Hawkins was a shocking guest, one of the worst efforts I've seen. Campton was as expected. Hardly a pass all night, blue groove on bend one after 8 heats. westhamboy66
Amazing the difference one night makes paid sixteen as a guest at Workington and our former leader JB manages a point tonight better than none i suppose, Glad i didn't go,had a great time watching Lakeside torn apart by Coventry with the Rye House owned rider Jason Garrity top scoring for Coventry instead of being in Berwick where he should have been riding, what a joke our once great sport has become Fair play to Steve Boxall seems Edward forgot all he learnt about the Berwick track then Hope the Newcastle meeting is better to watch
Shadders
Hope the Newcastle meeting is better to watchApart from the brilliant Danny King passing both Bandits on the banking of bend 3 & 4 in heat 11 it was pretty much from the gate rubbish. spin king
It amazes me that people think he is pulling up trees in the EL even. Lets have a look at the riders who he has actually beaten in the EL this season other than his team mates and his fellow draft riders, most of those he should be beating anyway considering he was one of the highest graded. Â Nicolai Klindt - PL 6/7 point man, on par with Garrity. Richard Lawson (2 times) - PL 8 point man, where Garrity should be this season anyway. Dakota North (2 times) - PL 6/7 pointer. North was a non finisher when Garrity beat him at Coventry 9/5. Simon Gustafsson - EL 6 pointer. Ty Proctor (2 times) - Riding pants this season, his PL average shows that. Garrity should be beating him. Nico Covatti - PL 6/7 pointer. Richie Worrall - Having a poor season, Garrity should be on par with him. Michael Palm Toft - PL 5 pointer. Scott Nicholls - Beat him guesting for Birmingham at Belle Vue. Jacob Thorssell - EL 6 pointer. Ricky Wells - PL 6/7 pointer. Nick Morris - Morris was excluded when Garrity beat him on 18/8 Â That's 12 , a majority of whom Garrity is on par with. Not exactly setting the world alight. This shows he's picking up the majority of his points from NL riders. Â Apologies from swerving off the actual thread topic. Lets not forget that he also beat the current World Champion on his own patch at the British Final, and but for last gasp swoop from Bomber Harris Jason would have been in the final.
