Wolverhampton 2015

Recommended Posts

So the views on who Wolverhampton can sign has turned into a Woffinden Kasprzak feed which is weird as neither will be in Wolves colours in 2015.

After the World Team Cup is finished then there could be a chance one of the riders in the finals will be at Monmore Green soon after to change the balance of the team and more likely to pick up points away from home.

I would really like to think that you are right, but for some reason I don't. :t:

Half term report >

# Lindgren : The evidence mounts that his best days are behind him. I get the average dropping comments but would anyone trust him on 6.50 based on current performance?

# Thorssell : Had high hopes for him (others disagreed :P ) but hasn't made the expected step forward and has become a one track pony.

# Wells : TBH has surprised me. Cracking the flag for Workington but still a sneaking suspicion that EL 2nd string is his level.

# Musielak. The 6.50 killed options elsewhere in the team and was highly unlikely to be achieved in his first season. Is Monmore the right home track for him? Glimpses of the rider he could be (Lakeside) but is getting a reputation as another Kamikaze Pole.

# Karlsson : Started the season like a house on fire. Scores have levelled off. Just hope he doesn't go on too long and sully the memories.

# Blackbird : Was expecting more TBH before the injury and truthfully didn't realise how old he was!! That being said was our best option FDR.

# Bates : Pops up now & then but don't see him as a level 1 FDR anytime soon. Should have been Starke.

# CVS : Same old spin, same old platitudes, nobody's listening anymore.

# Adams : I'm surprised Environmental Health haven't come knocking as he's so far past his sell by date.

I wonder if any Bees fans still have the wooden spoons that were handed out by Wolves supporters when Coventry finished in last place ?

It might be an appropriate moment to dust them off so that they can be returned to the rightful owners in a short while. :D

Very convenient time to put out the news of a contract extension.

Meanwhile in the same article CVS says:-

“Of course it was disappointing and, believe me, the management feel that as much as the supporters,” he said.

“I can never remember a night when my heat leaders didn’t win a race – but that was the case against Coventry.

“A lot of focus has been on Freddie (Lindgren) and his run of low scores.

“However, if you ask any of the Coventry heat-leaders I’m certain they will tell you they have been through a similar tough run at some stage in the last 12 months.

“We need to stick together and get behind Freddie and help him through this. He’s as frustrated as the rest of us.

“The Elite League race format is very demanding and unforgiving, although as a spectator I like it. People say the Elite League is easy, but I’m sure Freddie will tell you different!

“In addition, Jacob (Thorssell) needs to race more regularly, he’s been harshly treated in Poland and Sweden and I can confirm he is on the verge of joining a Premier League club.

“Jacob will remain with Wolverhampton and double-up but we will have priority over his services."

So in other words... no changes are going to be made.

As poor as Wolves are its highly unlikely they will be finishing below Leicester.

IMO the nature of the sport today means that your going to get meetings like last night ,Harris the "hero" may score 4or 5 in his next couple of matches maybe not .There seems a pattern where all riders are going to have golden patches, PK up until this month was on fire now many want him fired as usual his age is mentioned at every opportunity he will come good again he always dose. You have a good cross section of riders at Wolves ,the only rider that gives me real cause for concern is Freddie .As for management/promotion they seem to offer secure regular speedway which is more than can be said for some teams and means a lot in this day and age.Making the play offs winning the league what do these things really bring ,what I want out of speedway is entertainment and riders racing each other on a good track which you get most of the time at the "Green" IMO.

I don't know, but Kelv & Nige said on tv last night that Leicester were" on the up now" :D

CVS knows as long as the gullible folk like you keep showing up, paying your money he doesn't have to do anything.

It's an ever dwindling gullible folk though.

But seriously who is there available of suitable calibre to replace any if the Wolves 1-5. Certain fans of various clubs have posted on here calling for their clubs to makes changes but the problem for British Speedwáy these days is that most of the foreign riders who want to ride here are here already and British season is now so short for those not making the play offs that many riders don't see it as worthwhile to come mid-season or later for a relatively small number of matches.

Ok , so Leicestef have managed to get Swiderski but he has had a rough deal in Poland and wanted to ride over here from the start of the season. Some foreign riders will be phoning up looking for a bit more money when their Swedish/Polish clubs go out of the play offs but it's a bit late in the year to make much difference to Wolves.

I can understand the logic of getting someone now to get the hang of the track ready for next year but Wolves policy has always been to try to persevere with their riders and often it has worked.

For all Freddie's lack of form now is is a class act at his best and it's a big decision to boot him out, when the risk is he will start scoring big time again for someone else.

Who is there that can come in and make a difference and is likely to be prepared to come ? I can't think of anyone but the opinions of others would be interesting.

I don't disagree with much of what you say there E I to be fair.

Personally I just think there is a complacency that has settled around the club.

I have always supported the 'family' approach and retaining riders from season to season so I won't knock the club for that at all.

As an outsider I can see the complacency point. I used to love Wolves coming to Lakeside, you always got an entertaining meeting whatever the result, but as we all saw last week it was a shadow of the old Wolves. I used to put it Wolves fighting style down to Peter Adams who I always thought was a good team manager, but maybe Wolfsbane is right, maybe Adams has indeed reached his sell by date.
