Wolfsbane
How does the choice for Grade 2 draft riders work.Is it Leicester having first pick ?. Surely it will work the same way as last season. Bottom club pick A grade rider first, not B grade rider? Leicester will get first pick of group A but last in group B Don't they only get last pick if they pick the highest graded rider from Grade A? They may pick tactically. So if that means Poole get last pick for finishing top,and they will obviously choose their own rider(Newman)they get first pick of the Grade B riders. So,in theory they will get the best rider(possibly)in the first group, and then the top of the pile out of the second. Dont sound right (but what do i know). No. If Newman is the highest graded rider then Poole will get last pick in the 2nd draft. If Paul Starke is in Grade 2 then I would go for the lowest grade A reserve in order to get him. ........ that could be Roynon or Birks but what would happen if Poole owned the best riders in both Grades ? Maybe it would have been a good idea to give them all an assessed average from 4 and 3.5 in Grade A and 3 or below down to 2.0 for Grade B and this is given allowance for the top five so a team with a 4.0 and a 3.0 reserve has 32 for the top five and a team with weaker reserves has upto 344 34 If the pick system is anything like last years, tracks firstly get to name an asset in the list. So if Kyle Newman and Steve Worrall are in the list of Grade A crafts then Poole get to name Newman and Belle Vue get to name Worrall with the rest up for grabs. Leicester by not having an asset in the list gets to pick first from the list that should still include Garrity and Blackbird with the next lowest team then picking and so on. Once the first picks are done then the team with the lowest ranked Grade A rider picks first in the Grade B pot and so on so Poole should have Newman dominating and the last pick in the Grade B pot. The only change to the order in the second pick is a team may be allowed to pick an asset as long as they didnt do so in the first pick. I wonder if there will be a scramble to sign some of these riders as assets. The sport in a nutshell. Confusion and guesswork. Is it so difficult for the BSPA to be clear on how this stuff will work when they announce it?

Is it so difficult for the BSPA to be clear on how this stuff will work when they announce it? As long as the Promoters know and agree how it will work - then whats the problem?? Fans will only have to wait another week or so to find out!! (26th November for the Draft, isn't it?)

Tommy Sweetman
JT & Oliver B. Leaves enough room for Fred or Tai. Interesting, would be agood move. If youre top five consists of ,Bjerre brothers ,Jacob,Berntzon,Fred or Tai,with a 34 point limit that team will finish nearer the bottom than the top. Id be very dissapointed if we start with that side.

Fred back (or/and Tai ) has to be the way forward as far as top 2 goes. Berntzon (once he settles in to EL tracks) is an 8 pointer in waiting Thorssell is still looking good to up his average to around 7. Baby Bjerre? Clearly is making all the right noises but has been around the same level in the EL for quite a while. Id prefer an alternative option. Team COULD be a tasty one, especially since the draft list might suit us. 1. Freddie Lindgren 2. Lasse Bjerre (or other) 3. Jacob Thorssell 4. Oliver Berntzon 5. Tai Woffinden? (if he decides he cant let his parent club down) 6. Ashley Morris (assuming as an asset he will be a protected pick from draft 2) 7. Lewis Blackbird/Jason Garrity Edited November 19, 2014 by stevebrum

He was ok at the Green, but his away meetings were nothing special.Has a chance if he can gate, but dissapointing when trying to overtake even Grade 2 riders(he was Grade 1). Plus, has he overcome his injury. Much prefer Joe Jacobs.(Cant see Cov picking Joe above Sergeant.)(Sorry if thats mis-spelt).

Lewis Blackbird/Jason Garrity If they are going to re-declare the format , enabling the (Group 1 FTR) to get harder rides, I would assume the Team positions 6 and 7 will be set in stone to facilitate them changes. so moving round the reserves as you have done will not be allowed..... Just a thought......... Be interesting to see what assessed score Oliver Berntzon will be on........ ( if Matt Ford was asking it would be a 4. anyone else it'll be a 6 )

However surely that is the whole purpose of signing young riders as assets that you give them the break they need. My thinking behind the reason is that we SHOULD get one of the better reserves so using Ash would mean less pressure as he would be the junior reserve. Be interesting to see what assessed score Oliver Berntzon will be on........ ( if Matt Ford was asking it would be a 4. anyone else it'll be a 6 ) I am assuming its a 6 and i think thats fair. I don't think you get a protected pick from grade 2 if you do we are nailed on to pick Roynon and either Sargent or Jacobs And if you don't get a protected pick from Grade 1?? Surely its A protected pick (irregardless of grade)? Think 1 protected pick is fair but i don't see why any team this season should get 2 picks protected as its unfair to all other teams. So the likes of Lynn (Kerr/Rose) and Cov (Roynon/Jacobs or Sarjeant) will have to select one of the options. It seems unfair that Coventry own half of the grade 2 riders but could potentially end up with a rider on loan!
INCOGNITO
You can use one asset to be protected in the draft and most would be looking at protecting an asset in the Grade A selection. However if Leicester or Wolves owned the best assets in the Grade B selection group they would end up with the best two reserves by getting the first two picks for the Grade A riders taking into account Belle Vue would pick Steve Worrall. Coventry will have to pick the eighth Grade A rider due to Poole already having the protected Newman but they have good assets in the Grade B draft. Be more interesting to see how the 8 teams fill the five places with such a high limit considering how many riders over seven were here in 2014 and how many will be back in 2015 ? stevebrum
Kings Lynn had Rose protected from group 2 and Kerr from group 1 last year so imagine Coventry would have Sarjeant. That was this year. Hopefully for fairness next year only one grade can be protected. Teams SHOULD be rewarded for signing young talent and i thinks all EL clubs should be given a minimum of 2 years to start signing young assets. That way they get to keep assets from the drafts and those who don't bother signing youngsters have the pick of none assets.
T.N.T.
I dont think Lewis Rose was protected last season but simply still availsble when Kings Lynn came to select thei second pick. Once the first picks are selected, last season the team with the lowest ranked rider got to pick first so I think that would be the same again so Poole, Belle Vue and whoever gets Blackbird and Garrity would be the last four to pick Grade B riders. It will be interesting to see which order the top draft riders are ranked. In my opinion Kyle Newman would be number one followed by Garrity, Blackbird, Kerr and Worrall but Auty has possibly been added and Wright and Birks will be good riders too. Unless I have missed anyone those I think will be the top eight draft riders and all should be capable of big pointsat reserve. There looks to be some good picks in the second pick too so the teams getting the two picks should be pleased. Until the lists are made public, its pretty much guess work but at least we have had a year of experience behind it. It does look like Wolves will end up with Garrity or Blackbird which will be good but put us near the back of the queue for the second draft. Hopefully the fixtures will be OK with Tai as there was a thought that grading would be back which obviously hasnt so on just 7.03 he will be the bargain next season. Got a feeling Freddie could be elsewhere next season so how about this for a team ? 8.44 Jason Doyle 7.03 Tai Woffinden 6.25 Jacob Thorssell 6.21 Craig Cook 6.00 Oliver Berntzon Res Jason Garrity Res ? ? To be honest I could see Ricky Wells instead of Cook possibly being the team .... If Tai rides ? Edited November 20, 2014 by T.N.T.
