Wolverhampton 2015

Recommended Posts

Perhaps Wolves will finally sign Michelsen now Eastbourne are dropping down.

Didnt one poster(think it was Wolfie)say a couple of months ago the reason Michelsen didnt sign for Wolves, was that he didnt think he could get on with our manegement team.

Also, dont think hes been that impressive around Monmore.

It was a bit tongue in cheek as this thread is going on about who will sign and done deals etc. Michelsen was rumoured to sign for ages and it never happened.

I can understand the way you see it as well

Tai was always going to drop his average of 9.20 with the new format but to take 2 points off is really poor.

Think of it this way. I will only do something for you if you do something for me. Tai had his GP defence planned and it didn't involve Britain. However Tai had to alter his plans to get P. Adams on board for the GP's

Tai was reluctant to sign not just for the club but for British Speedway as the increase of meetings to 36 meetings was going to be too much and it took a bit of persuading to get the World Champion to agree to ride for the club in 2014.

I have highlighted it for you in the above post :t:

Pete never but Tai did.

Think some don't quite understand the situation regarding Tai signing for Wolves in 2014.

Having won the World Title, Tai did more PR work than any other World Champion I have ever known and was non stop in his goal of not only promoting the sport but also attracting new sponsors or better deals for the 2014 season as this may be the only time he is World Champion. Pete Adams helps Tai out behind the scenes in a professional manner so was a part of his planning for 2014 in a way.

Poland was never a concern and when yet another deal was offered to him in Sweden, he signed for Vetlanda to ride alongside Emil Sayfutinov and Jacob Thorssell in what looked to be a very strong team and he looked forward to it as he WANTED to do all three main leagues on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday then the GP's every other weekend.

Later on the BSPA decided to extend the number of meetings to 36 and trying to fit in 18 away league meetings on various race nights meant he was going to have to squash everything in and questioned if he could get through the season without any hassles. This was his concern and he was still willing to sign for Wolves and no one else and in the talks with Pete Adams he was persuaded to sign up but it was felt that he had possibly taken on too much.

Note that Pete Adams isn't just part of his GP plans, he is also his Wolves team mnager, advisor and almost like a father figure helping him in various avenues Tai has gone along. The GP's are only a part of thir relationship and should Tai feel he has to miss Britain next season I'm sure PA and CVS will understand his reasons ...... they may not agree with him but they will both be there for Tai well into the future and will always be in team plans for the foresable future at Monmore Green if he feels he can fit Britain in.

As for 2015, it will be interesting to see which other riders with an average of six or over return to Britain, especially those in the GP's or even SEC. Kenneth Bjerre is the only one I have heard of yet that has stated he will drop Sweden before England but the fact that he feels riding in the three leagues and the GP's is too much has to make people realise there are too many oppourtunites now for riders to race and they can't fit them all in unless they are based in a suitcase and a van.

Jacob Thorssell looks to be a sure thing and I think he has an agreement in Sweden that he will ride in England on a Thursday if there is a clash of dates unless it's a rearranged meeting like it was recently at Swindon.

Hopefully something like that could be arranged with Fredrik Lindgren too if Tai opts out of Britain as Freddie likes to keep busy and would be a great number one if he can ride here on a Thursday.

1 - Fredrik Lindgren or Tai Woffinden or the "other" rider gets his wish ?

2 - Jacob Thorssell

3 - ?

4 - Oliver Berntzon

5 - Lasse Bjerre or Jason Garrity

6 - Ashley Morris

7 - Tom Perry

Your last point should never be used as a reason to not sign a rider, quality performers like Michelsen will get the hang of any home track after a few meetings.

Tai been preparing in Poland for saturdays GP,interesting to hear him say dissapointed to miss the last two ELRC meetings, but hopes to compete in 2015.

If thats the case, then he hasnt ruled out the EL next year.

It kind of sounds that way though in other words.

It kind of doesn't say one thing or the other. I can see why some read something and see other things tho.

Not at all. It was a long and winding comment from the talk in (last year) about how he was as good as signed, with him doing all the talk and was saying all the right things - right up until he signed for the Eagles.

If Michelsen wanted to come to Wolves and his plans fitted in with Wolves fixtures then id say there is as good a chance as any of him coming to Monmore next season.

Tommy is right Steve.

There was a subsequent post later in the season indicating that Michelsen had commented he wouldn't have fitted with the Wolves management... or words similar.

Tai Woffinden planned on riding for Wolves in 2014 but when it was announced that it was increased to 36 league matches he had reservations as he had already signed up in Sweden and Poland plus the GP Series.

With the forthcoming season being 28 matches I don't think he will feel he can fit them all in and stay on top of his game so I feel he has little choice but to miss out Britain in 2015

It would probably help Tai (and all riders) if he didnt go 3 weeks with 1 meeting and then have 12 meetings in the next 3 weeks. Spread the fixtures out evenly FFS!

My mistake. Look when this one was started though!!

Max Fricke next year. Nailed on.

He is among the long list of possibles for next season and we can't track them all

Tai Woffinden .................... 50/50 - Too many matches - Poland, Sweden, GP's, SEC

Fredrik Lindgren ............... 40/60 - Sweden two nights plus Poland, GP's and SEC ?

Jacob Thorssell ................. 90/10

Ricky Wells ........................40/60 - PL or EL ?

Oliver Berntzon ................. 80/20 - Keen and Eager

Lasse Bjerre ..................... 70/30 - P'boro asset that loves it at Wolves

Peter Karlsson .................. 30/70 - It is more like he put the A into SAGA rather than ABBA

Jason Garrity .................... 50/50 - Seems quite happy where he is ?

Max Fricke ........................ 50/50 - Linked but so have Coventry and Poole

Ty Proctor ........................ 30/70 - Low average but like Ricky PL or EL ?

Tobiasz Musielak .............. 20/80 - Over 21 but has this season done some damage ?

Mikkel Michelsen .............. 10/90 - Bright prospect but he had his chance

Michael Jepsen Jensen .... 10/90 - See above

Mikkel Bech ...................... 10/90 - See above

Jason Doyle ...................... 20/80 - See above + GP's

Rory Schlein ..................... 50/50 - How many 7+ riders will be left - Has done well when asked ?

Scott Nicholls .................... 50/50 - see above

Chris Harris ....................... 30/70 - see above

to be continued in October, November, December, January, February and March !!!

Think thats a fair appraisal of the above riders.

Out of those mentioned,i like the look of Berntzon,Fricke and Thorssell .

Not sure about who would be our No1.Although on his average Woffy would be a steal, its highly unlikely he will be back.

Of the draft riders we used, only Joe Jacobs enhanced his standing in my mind.Wasnt that impressed with Morris or Perry tbh, although it was a really big ask for them last season against some of the top notchers.
