Hunty
Really suprised we dont have a thread for this one. The Heathens are looking for a bit of revenge as most of our fans belive we were hard done by in the reverse fixture towards the start of this season. The Heathens took a point but the Heathens crumbled and were anoyed by a referee decsion that was a bit harsh on Max Clegg Should be a good meeting, closeest hopefully of the season but Heathens winning by 12! CRADLEY: Paul Starke, Matt Williamson, Max Clegg, Tom Perry, Steve Worrall, Nathan Greaves, Danny Phillips.COVENTRY: Oliver Greenwood, Luke Crang R/R, Stefan Nielsen, Dan Greenwood, James Sarjeant, Ryan Terry-Daley, Martin Knuckey. Ommer Mon
It should be a good meeting with plenty of competitive racing. Weather is really good, bright sunshine and 27 degrees but I'll make no further comment after learning my lesson last time. (I'm no weather forecaster!) Heathens to win by 16 and get some revenge for that beating at Brandon. Looking forward to it.
Heathen1984
Pretty easy and should of been more but a couple of falls from Williamson and Worrall only doing 3 laps after winning easily. Cradleys top 2 were far too good for coventry.
Hunty
Built up as the Heathens toughest test....Could have been alot worse! Stevie Worrall only raced 3 laps thinking it was finished on a 5-1 ended 3-3. Tom Perry went wide whilst on a 5-1 a very unusual mistake And Matt Williamson struggled with a couple of falls by just trying a tad to hard! I was a beliver we should stay in the NL but after that tonight and it being way way way to easy its time for a step up!
Mike.Butler
by all means stay in the NL but only spend an average NL clubs budget and save the money for a new track.

Hunty
by all means stay in the NL but only spend an average NL clubs budget and save the money for a new track. I think all thats wanted and needed now for the Heathens and the fans is come sort of competition. I would want to stay in the NL and save the money as you said because that is the real aim in my opinion. The league needs to be have more involvement in British Speedway, the NL AGM is seperate and an after thought to the EL and PL plans when the NL draft has brought the leagues closer than ever. Sort out the NL and it would be fine for the Heathens to stay in the NL. Have a lower average limit around 38 and then also have a miniumum average limit around 35 and all the teams will be around the same standard and the better riders will end up at all NL teams. Nah get out national league. Time to move up and quick Small steps lead to big strides!
TMW
Nah get out national league. Time to move up and quick There does seem to have been this psyche with Cradley where no one ever does well At Wolverhampton as a visitor. Ommer Mon
I have no doubts that the Storm are the second best Team in the National League by some distance but without the excellent efforts of Stefan Nielsen (boo!)it would have been a very one sided affair once again. Have to say that Starkie and Steve Worrall are looking more like Hamill and Hancock every meeting. They have developed a superb understanding and are both excellent team riders. Congratulations to Starkie on lowering his NL track record. Shame about the tannoy last night. Porky did explain the problem but the back up system was bordering on painful when the music was played. Still that's a minor issue - we're proud to have the best team in the League (and a great bunch of lads to boot!) and fingers crossed we can steer clear of injuries for the rest of the season. 190557
I went to Monmore Green for both Wolves v Bees and Cradley v Storm. My impression was the crowd for the Cradley match was bigger than the Wolves match. Was my impression correct? If so why would more people attend a less attractive fixture, with the result being more or less a foregone conclusion, when the World Champion is riding for Wolverhampton and Coventry Bees are very attractive away opposition and always used to attract a big crowd at Monmore Green. Is it cost of admission or what? Any ideas? Edited July 23, 2014 by 190557
MrMungo
Any ideas? You need to compare like for like. They're 2 different teams. It's not Wolves and Wolves B Team for example. If you call Cradley a Wolves B team, they tend to not like that much! Cradley have a strong(lots of other adjectives could be used too!) following, and many will go to Speedway at WV2 on a Tuesday, but not on a Monday.
brianbuck
I think it's an established fact that Wolverhampton and Cradley Heath play to different crowds and in my experience, few Wolves fans go to watch Cradley meetings and vice-versa. The two clubs have their own distinctive followers and the only thing they have in common is that both use the same track. I'd agree that the National League has become very badly balanced this season and that this is leading to a high percentage of one-sided matches which is not good for either the winners or the losers - or for speedway in general. Unfortunately, it's not possible to level teams up - only level them down, so Cradley have the alternatives of either dramatically de-strengthening their team (which understandably, the supporters won't like), or moving up a division and taking on the much higher costings with possibly only a marginal increase in attendances. Of course, the real solution is for Cradley to have a track of their own - and as a lifelong supporter of Birmingham, I do wish you a happy ending to the long, long search for that goal.

Last night I drove onto Monmore car park and thought it may end up being full just like what happens on a Monday! First time ive seen that and its a good sign...we basically need our own stadium! Which even as a Heathen fan, thinks may be out our reach!
Islander15
A lot of people associate hitting 60+ every week with poor racing, so considering you were only 10 up after 12 heats, was it better racing last night?

Nope...Sorry it was very bland! A fast track but one line all night. Tom Perry took up a wide line to defend a 5-1 with Clegg but he just had no speed on there and slid wide. The racing was better on 60+ victories because the Heathens were missing the gates! Last night was good over one lap but there was no way to pass last night as the track had only one line!
greyhoundp
Yeah have to agree that probably 99% of the races were over after the first lap and 98% after the 2nd bend. For the first time I noticed a blue groove on the 3rd 4th bends. Definitely no drive out wide as could be seen by Nielsen challenging Worrall in Ht15, when Stevie was team riding with Starkie, when Stevie dropped back and switched to the inside, he was far more comfortable. To sum up, a good all round Team performance from the Heathens and yes it could have, indeed should have been more, Storm Nielsen excepted were on the whole poor.

Problem as I see it from a distance is that a some riders were stopped from riding this year for different reasons , averages etc, Ellis was one I think , others quit or weren't available , Branford being one, which left a big hole in the teams. I think if you are still a reserve in the PL you should still be ok for NL. Junior
