macinter
Congrats on being able to waste money on poor standard riders. I unfortunately cant do that so i will only pay to watch riders who are the best in the sport. Get off your high horses But the best riders don't always serve up the best entertainment. There have been some dull GP's with little or no passing and the youngsters at reserve in British domestic speedway are serving up some really good close racing. A bit hairy at times but they sure give it everything.
mikeman
My worry is that Thursday will be chosen as THE day and that Ipswich will be pressured into moving 'up'.......

ch958
Absolutely top class racing - pl all the way for me However there are some who think like phillipsr it's their loss Edited July 28, 2014 by ch958
Bagpuss
The PL has the best tracks in the UK, stands to reason the racing will be better. Swap Somerset, Scunthorpe, Sheffield & Peterborough for Eastbourne, Leicester, Poole and Lakeside for example and things would be a little different. orion
Watching Sky tonight? Maybe you should try and get a copy if not, it will show how idiotic your comment was. Why ? yet another average meeting bigged up to be one of the greatest meetings of all time because it was in the PL .The fact that the crowd looked up 250 shows that people do want watch top riders no matter what the racing is like .
fullbore
As far as TV is concerned, do away with live transmission in the UK, so that those who want to watch speedway have to pay at the turnstiles Don't forget the 350 - 400 mile round trip Niamh How about Saturday? Most EL stadiums run something else on Saturdays Niamh
moxey63
How can Tai Woffinden (or any rider who does likewise) escape a ban after having decided to withhold his services (or take a break) from meetings in recent weeks?
speedibee
One group whose input should be totally ignored is the riders , they have no interest in the future of speedway as long as they can get the maximium out of it while they are using it as an income stream , 99% of todays riders will walk away as soon as they stop riding and will not care what becomes of the sport , we should be listiening to the people who pay at the turnstiles and the BSPA should be debating with them what is and isn't financially viable to move the sport forward ,and never mind the wishes and wants of BSI they are in speedway for the same reason as the riders discount their input , IMO move backward to go forward ,

Well as he was advised by doctors to take a break then presumably he had a sick note?
moxey63
That's ok then. Just strengthens my case, that riders, dashing all over the globe, are facing burn out and simply cannot give their best effort every meeting, for whatever team they are riding for, Britain or Europe. Time to cut down the globetrotting.

Agreed - much more entertaining than most of the Elite League Meetings shown. Is it me - or has that generally been the case when Premier League Meetings are screened? Oh! StevePark
That's ok then. Just strengthens my case, that riders, dashing all over the globe, are facing burn out and simply cannot give their best effort every meeting, for whatever team they are riding for, Britain or Europe. Time to cut down the globetrotting. According to some, they want to see 'the top stars' riding, and they won't go unless the 'top stars' are on show. So, by these 'top stars' cutting down on the 'globetrotting' you can almost guarantee that Britain will be the first they will cut down on (most already have, no Hancock, Holder, Nicki P etc.), therefore reducing the crowds even further. moxey63
By not riding in the league that pays the least... Niamh And by getting riders who are loyal to Britain, who may even decide to ride in he league that pays the least (Britain?)... because they care... and... dare I say... just a tad bit loyal? On one hand, British riders are willing, threatening even, to skip the Elite League... and yet, little Englanders (fans with painted faces, used-once flags) roll out in numbers to support some of the same crew, that are threatening to bid farewel, for a watered down meeting in Norfolk on a Saturday night. The Elite League has lost most of its big names anyway. Will it miss the remaining two? Is it more important to have a credible league, with riders committed to it... or a league that's being held together, in the hope that its two remaining stars may up and leave. It does make you think why SKY have suddenly concentrated on Premier racing. My views... SKY exist to transmit entertainment. The Elite League (and all its starnames - not) is about as appealing as a kiss off your grannie. Edited July 29, 2014 by moxey63
