Somerset V Newcastle 18th July

Recommended Posts

Chris Schramm has decided to retire and Simon Nielsen is coming in but not til Sunday. Have we a decent reserve guest for Somerset tonight?

Simon was going to guest somewhere tonight (at Edinburgh for Workington, I think) but "pulled out due to signing for Newcastle and riding for them on Friday" so maybe Simon N rides for us tonight?

I see it how it is Dave. Not how I would like it to be.

I see Robbo Team Riding often - so I know what Team Riding is. Perhaps, as Steve says, he can't Team Ride but actually I don't believe that because I HAVE SEEN HIM DO IT!!

But crucially - only when he wants to. That my friend, is my gripe.

as opposed to when you say he should ???,,, :-)

Kenni was possibly the worst team rider I've ever seen (Because he was too fast for Derek) but he was still good wasn't he?

All that matters is that he goes out and racks up them points, which he has been doing better at home. He just needs a little bit better form away and he'll be dangerous. (Ludvig)

Seems mostly Diamonds supporters on here? As the thunder and lightening is not due until 23-00, I may turn up tonight, and see if new DJ is any good, just my his 3rd visit to Oak Tree this season. Please don't have the interval, it just makes the meeting go cold after it has built up with just 3 heats to go, and there is plenty of time to get chips during track grading. Interesting to see Somerset are having two meetings in one week and Plymouth reporting they have a fixture backlog, with the unpredictable British weather one wonders why it was agreed to have the number of matches extended by teams choosing another two teams to play for 4 extra matches, I assume this was thought of at AGM and the cut off date for Play Offs can be extended.

Very one-sided and disappointing performance from the boys tonight. Really only Danny was on true form. Robbo, by his standards was below par and Ludo, I am afraid has merely re-stocked TWK's ammunition locker. Hope Nielsen has not been bitten too hard by the Newky injury jinx. Just where are those nasty friction burns I wonder?

Well, that was another poor away performance, can't see us getting anything out of the rest of the season. Nielsen injured and withdrawn from meeting with burns, must be doubtful for Sunday so the injury jinx strikes again. Will just have to enjoy the racing from now on and see what team we can build for next season.

Just spoken to simon No burns just sore but should be ok for sunday

Well that's a relief.

I was thinking - here we go again.

Dreadful Result tonight. Very sad.

At least Danny King seems to have ridden well.

No comment about anybody else. :o;)

As usual I await with baited breath the views of any actual spectators as to whether the score line truly is representative of the two teams actual Oaktree showings.

Well firstly, it was great to be back for a league meeting at the OTA - it's been a long old time, which shown in the first few races as it took us a little while to get going before running away with it mid meeting.

Some absolute belting racing mind - Heat 11, Heat 13 and Heat 15 all brilliant, not to mention Nick Morris coming off 15 metres and many other great races. Danny King was superb, a real classy rider and stunning race with Nick Morris where they passed and repassed in heat 13 - by far the best visiting rider to the OTA this year. Nearly every race had something going on, it was a brilliant meeting!

Stuart Robson started badly with the tapes offence and was poor in his next, before he started to come to the party and had a cracker with Brady in heat 12 with Brady riding a stormer to win it. I expected so much more from Lewis Kerr who was literally non existent all night long. How has Chris Mills become so poor? He was dire. Lindgren wasn't much better, gated okay but soon went backwards. Lewis Rose deserved a lot more than 1 point, good gating again but eaten up by the Rebels but always in the mix - should be at reserve and being in the main body can't be doing him any good at all. Simon Nielsen started well with a win and was poor there after, and a sickening crash too - can still hear his screams now from when he was led on the track. Very nasty.

Newcastle were as poor as the scoreline suggests, aswell as the Rebels being good - but a cracking meeting in terms of the racing on track with some top riders too.

Glad to hear that - could of been alot worse.

A smiley saves a thousand words then TWK. Or a blister on your typing finger perchance?

The scoreline is a true reflection of the difference between the two. Expected far more from Newcastle.

Nearly every race had something going on, it was a brilliant meeting! As a neutral supporter, good perhaps but certainly not brilliant. Newcastle far too slow out of the traps to make a go of it, expected a lot more, hugely disappointed with Kerr, woeful, well off the pace.
