SCORPIONS OUT TO SHOOT DOWN ROCKETS

FLUIDAIR POWER Scunthorpe Scorpions will be looking to maintain their current high Premier League position by defeating the Rye House Rockets at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday evening (7.30pm).

Third-placed Scorpions will use rider replacement for Josh Auty, currently in hospital where he is having an operation to have his appendix removed.

Auty, No 1 at Scunthorpe in 2012 and 2013, is currently third in the Scorpions’ averages. All the Scunthorpe team apart from Nicolai Klindt will be able to take a rider replacement ride for the Englishman.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We never take anything for granted, and that goes doubly so now that Josh is out.

“Josh had hit some good form in recent weeks. It will make it harder being without him, but we’re still looking for three points from this meeting.

“But Rye House will certainly not be pushovers. They have a top No 1 in Great Britain international Edward Kennett, who rode as a couple of times as the wildcard in the British Grand Prix.

“And they have Jason Bunyan at reserve, who is no slouch around Scunthorpe.

“Our recent form in recent weeks has been really good, but we won’t become complacent. We have to perform on Friday to ensure we come out of the meeting with the result that we desire.”

Last season’s Scunthorpe vs Rye House clash at the Eddie Wright Raceway was a classic affair, with the Scorpions coming from ten points behind to grab a 47-46 victory.

Admission prices for Friday:

Hope to be up for this, depending on when I finish work. No disrespect to Marc Owen, but is he the best NL guest available?

Expecting a 20+ point defeat at least

Rob, you've got some weird taste buds. A rum & coke :drink: , maybe, but curry & coke flavoured chips!:o mmmmmm, not for me.

It cools the curry down ;)

Seriously, though, it's fantastic value for money in the Scunny café - prices at many other tracks are almost double.

All the best

Now booked the half days which mean I should make every Scunny home meeting until the end of August. I did want to go tonight, but knew with the pain-in-the-neck Game Fair just up the road from me, it would be a nightmare to get out of Oxfordshire.

All the best

What a bunch of crap

Can't disagree !

Rob kept apologising for the lack of action, especially as reps of the sponsors were out in numbers.

Felt sorry for you and the other Rockets fans present as your team were beaten by the 1st bend in most heats. The Scorpions had a similar night up at Rough Park a few weeks ago, so I think we can all sympathise.

Came expecting the worst and wasn't disappointed. Can't wait until next Sunday when we're at Rough Park!
