TMW
I was gutted to have missed this meeting but seeing the comments maybe it was a blessing in disguise. Was it REALLY that bad? Yes!

arnieg
As you didn,t go how can you and all the other armchair fans pass any comment on what the track was like and what actually caused the delay to the start .Its very easy to have a go at track staff from the safety of your own front room sat behind your keyboard .Mick Horton is not responsible for track prep but hey don,t let that stop anyone putting the knife in .There was one soft spot on the entrance to the third bend which after the track walk by the Referee and also Chris Louis (don,t know why he was accompanying her ) she asked for remedial work to be carried out .The meeting was put back 1 hour to do said work and after Coventry,s Captain James Serjeant did 6 laps testing the track the meeting was started on the 15..30 start time .There were a few falls but not because of the track but as someone else has already said just keen young men overriding and making mistakes .Cradley were deserved winners as they seemed to want it more once the last 8 hts came around in the second half of the meeting .Just a footnote to the track problem we had a stock car meeting last Saturday which consisted of 22 races of stox and Bangers and other forms of short track race cars I counted at least 12 cars throughout the meeting that lost wheels and still carried on racing causing damage to the track they are supposed to be black flagged but its not their track so why worry .Come the start of the week lot of damage and inclement weather doesn.t help .Who,d be a trackman A few!!!  Nathan Greaves and Stefan Nielsen Tom Perry Scott Campos (injured) Luke Chessell Ryan Blacklock Sean Phillips Aaron Baseby (injued) Tyler Govier Rob Shuttleworth Tom Perry (again) Dan Greenwood Tom Stokes Luke Priest Josh Bates  I've been to 2000+ meetings and it is hard to think of a worse one!
P T Preece
Thats my last meeting this season. I was going to the NL meeting on wednesday at Brandon but due to the pathetic track preperation on sunday that saw the 2.30 start time extended till 3.30 because coventry couldent prepare a decent track on a dry day before the meeting. When are they going to start to understand that people are sick of this, the constant bad treatment of the supporters when they have entered the stadium has to stop. Another thing that is getting on my nerves is the statement from the centre green announcer who ever they are "thank you for your patience" you dont have a lot of choice. Even if you felt like going home and went to the office and asked for your money back you wouldent get it, so you have to sit there and endure the stupidity of the Promotion. Will there be any comeback from the BSPA perhaps a fine, maybe coventry could be taken off the list for running big events as that is two they cocked up this season and its become quite obvious that they cant.
Gemini
Good post probably summing up everyone's feelings who had the misfortunte to attend. My husband even left the stadium halfway through and took the dogs for another walk in the wood. It was that bad. Shame The Storm will probably suffer with a poor attendance on Wednesday but who's to say the track will be any better? I'm not going to risk it having already wasted £30 on Sunday. Falcon Hammer
Nearly fell off my seat, when Mick Horton said they've done a good job to get the meeting on  Are Horton & Sandhu in cahoots, running the club down to assist redevelopment! greyhoundp
Do you know whats the saddest thing about all of this ? we are on the 107th comment and barely a word has been said about the meeting itself. So from a Cradley fan i would firstly like to thank the riders for taking part, and trying to provide some entertainment. Congratulations to The Heathens on retaining the 4 team trophy, Paul Starke, Tom Perry, Max Clegg and Nathan Greaves, and a special well done to the 2 young boys in the Team Max Clegg and Nathan Greaves, they were both reserves at the start of 2013, they have both struggled somewhat in the EL FTD because basically they were not ready for it, however for the 2nd time in less than a week they have both starred and even outshone the more senior riders in the team, whoever ends up with them in 2015 (if Cradley dont ride) they will have 2 great young British prospects, they have made tremendous strides this season, and this will continue in 2015. Finally get well soon to Scott Campos and Aaron Baseby both injured at this meeting.
Arson fire
I agree that the track was okay once they did the extra work on it and produced some good racing. The more experienced riders did well whilst some of those not on the FTD or less experienced struggled abit which is what you find on most tracks regardless of track work or not. do you have an official role of Coventry appologist or just do it off you're own back?? I wouldn't blame the riders ,the key is the name of the meeting 'National League fours' ie the track should be suitable for all riders of National League level not just the fast track riders ! just got back from the meeting, the part of the track the riders were moaning about at the start didn't seem to cause any problems, most of the problems were caused by lesser riders overtrying or with wrong set up, as the FTR seemed fine with the exception of perry who was all over the place all day. well I enjoyed it 4 hours to run a meeting on a poor track , Bet you enjoy the dentist as well ! Great Central
Regardless of the poor condition of the Coventry track ( not the first time this season ) The whole format of this meeting is a farce ,,why should 50% of the riders have to travel hundreds of miles for just two races, resulting in undoubted loss of earnings compared to any other meeting ..I would go further and say most of that 50% would have considerable losses. It should also be run on a neutral track in my opinion.... Totally agree with your comments. The format is rubbish. Too much hanging around for the riders and those who didn't qualify only get two rides and travelling hundreds of miles in the process. Isn't it about time that the 4's was run as a full meeting for the top 4 clubs coming out of qualifying rounds or is that too difficult to organise? Next year with what looks like a bigger NL this format won't work.
Blackbird
I well remember that 2005 Wimbledon meeting - it was also hit by a downpour during racing. You remember that incorrectly. It was a blistering hot day and completely dry.

The video of ht 15 @ KL against Cockle and Owen (I think) shows how much the FT has helped these 2 progress. Isn't that what it is about? Greaves ans Clegg are products of the new era. MDL NL FTRD. Joined up development. This is something that any rider over 24 never had and it is on the likes of these 2 that the Junior development should be measured....I hope they contnue the good work next season And I hope the PL sides have seen enough in the FT to introduce a form of it aswell. What's also true is that the final took about 45 minutes and had some decent racing thrown in.  The sadness of that is it was utterly overshadowed by the events at the beginning of the meeting and the quality of the racing in the semi finals. Blackbird
first race 15 35 last race 18 00 in my book that makes 2hrs 25 mins where do you get 4 hrs from i know the sceduled start was 14.30 but we all know that came and went ...You can't really just dismiss the hour between the scheduled start time and when they finally got on with it. Especially as many people (me included) were there an hour before that - at 1.30pm. Which was apparently the time you had to be there to get a programme! 2.30pm (time meant to start and when all the crowd were there waiting for it to start) to final heat 6.30pm is most certainly four hours.
Blackbird
News from the AGM..: "NL Fours at Coventry on a Sunday afternoon.".. Exactly how badly does a club need to stage a meeting before it's taken off them?

Exactly how badly does a club need to stage a meeting before it's taken off them? Coventry looks a god track/venue to me. Just needs better organisation for 2015.
