Berwick V Edinburgh :continuation Of Monarchs' Losing Run: Wednesday, July 23

Recommended Posts

Well done to the Bandits on winning tonight.

Some celebrations after heat 15, Kevin Doolan clearly thinks the tie is over.

Any truth that Matej Kus is not riding on Friday, as he is riding in a Czech League Match?

Poor show if true, rumours have Nathan Greaves as his replacement .

Don't think it can be true though, as it was not mentioned at Berwick tonight.

Think the Doolan celebrations would have had more to do with his return from bad form of late, certainly there has been a big improvement in his form in the past week. Anybody who knows speedway knows Berwick's poor history at Armadale, so Edinburgh probably still favourites for the tie.

Thought this was actually a cracking meeting. Not much in the way of passing, but a lot of close, fast racing. Always fascinating because whilst Berwick built the lead you always got the impression Edinburgh were on the verge of a comeback. Still fancy Edinburgh to go through, They will probably be too strong at Armadale, even though Berwick have a couple of ex-Monarchs in their line up. Good crowd for a midweek meeting as well.

Hope 2 can dan has calmed down after the comments from away fans regarding the track, which in fact there was nothing wrong with the track.

Thought that was a thoroughly enjoyable meeting.
Is it enough take to Armadale?

Maybe.

Matej Kus was in scintillating form, very fast, stylish and hard.
I think there is no doubt at all that he is starting to realise his potential.

The reason Doolan was up into the crowd was clearly because he's getting back to his best and was absolutely buzzing.

He's had very vocal support from the 3rd bend and decided to come up and join in.

Great entertainment on and off the track!

To beat this very strong Monarch's side 51 - 39 is a very good result.

Good turnout for a mid-week fixture too.

For all there was not much passing, I found it thoroughly entertaining this evening, good close hard racing between two teams really going for it. Kus was excellent, shame he had his customary duff ride but you really cant argue with 17. Weathers rode smart, Doolan really has turned a corner so full marks to him for that he rode excellent and looked fast. Vissing normal self, all action, unlucky to fall. Very disappointing from Jensen again and was correctly replaced by Kus, he really needs to pull his socks up. Bellego the usual enigma.

Edinburgh still monumental favourites in this tie and be a shock beyond all belief if they dont go through. I'd be more interested in Berwick beating Rye on saturday and winning at Glasgow on sunday.

Thought there was some good racing despite the lack of passing clearly not a big enough lead Berwick always ride rubbish at the dump also heard its Greaves sadly not James for Matej mind you he scored zero from 3 earlier.Im more worried about Liam last year when he guested for Monarchs he looked good but in 2 matches this year has failed to score.I live in hope

Not sure I agree on the comments re the Entertaining meeting. I started to fill out my program after 2nd lap. Yes close racing but even the fast riders had no chance of passing (Kus chasing a slow Fox springs to mind)

I like going to Berwick, great track to watch the speed these guys go at but passing is rare. Really hope things improve for the Sky meet getting shot of P rick Barrie would be a great start.

All came down to battle off the gate and 1st bend. Berwick were lighting from them and deserved the win. Monarchs will recover and hammer them at the dale (hope i dont regret saying that :P )

mite aswel continue the trend #-2

2 losses in a row head must roll IMO.

Na but on a serious note well done Berwick better team tonight and sharper out the gate which was the aim of the game tonight.

Same as Peterborough really once again far to many zeros on the scorecard good to see Aaron picking up a couple of points away from home.

Derek seriously needs to get his finger out he is an experienced rider who has an average of around 5.5 but can't even beat an opposing rider. His form at the moment is real worry he needs to be scoring 5 to 7 points a meeting if we want to start winning away from home until then we are going to struggle

deek has been poor all season though, just goes to show how invaluable cook and Stevie are/were to edinburghs chances... And long unbeaten run.

Agreed it was always going to happen with Deek going to reserve he was gradually getting worse last season and is getting even worse this season. What he does for the reminder of the season will have a major say if we win any silver wear.

Yes your last point spot on Emilali

Edinburgh 's

I was confident before I heard Kus was due to be missing, if this is true, with Nathan Greaves guesting, then I don't even think the tie will be close. (No disrespect to Nathan Greaves, or any Berwick rider intended)

Yes shame if he out. I imagine he obliged to ride in his country first or get into big trouble??
