SpeedwayTShirts
Imagining you had no hometown alliance and the sport was as thrilling as it was in the 80's..... of all the tracks/stadiums you've visited in the UK and if you lived close enough where would you choose to watch your hometown speedway irrespective of the league they currently race in? Dead easy that one. Hyde Road, Manchester for me - nowhere else compares. :approve:

Dave the Mic
What a great thread. I can imagine lots of people with lots of reasons, choosing a variety of different tracks, for a variety of different reasons and Alan's take on it is cool. For me, it's such a simple, yet complex answer. It would be Exeter's County Ground every time. Not for the racing, especially, as it was sometimes awful, sometimes brilliant and the CG wasn't everybody's cup of tea. For me, though, it is about more than just the racing. A combination of the speed, sometimes fabulous racing, the greatest of all time, Mr Ivan Mauger, seeing three of the most exciting racers ever, Vaclav Verner, Richard Green and Mark Loram in their prime, a homely club with a real warmth, a stadium full of character, with a real history and a host of memories with which I could fill an encyclopaedia. Mostly though, Exeter Speedway was my community. It was where I found a love of speedway and cut my teeth watching the sport with which I have had a love affair which has lasted, unabated for 40 years. Friendships forged that have lasted for decades. I owe the County Ground an awful lot and what saddens me most is that I can never pay it back.

Daniel Smith
Bradford track, Millennium Stadium, in King's Lynn. Regardless of what some may deceive as a dream, I just couldn't go against my own people for love nor money
RobMcCaffery
It will always be Rayleigh, not the finest track, not the finest stadium, but it was home and still badly missed 40 years on.

The White Knight
Sunderland was a very good and fair Track and would be my second favourite behind Hyde Road. Sunderland was not fashionable by any means, but I saw some great races there. It was where it all started for me. The Stadium is still there, there are still very few Houses in the area. If any Promoter was really interested at some stage - who knows? One lives in hope.

mickthemuppet
Wembley with 50/60 thousand spectators there every week Riders coming out on the track to the music "The march of the Gladiators" and the cannon going off at the end of every race. The second halves sometimes had 4 or 5 riders from other London clubs combined with the home and away teams. This was completely unique to Wembley
