Scott Nicholls

Recommended Posts

I broke my leg in Bydgoszcz many moons ago before a Gp after a drunken fall and Nicholls was good enough to offer me a lift home to the Uk in my plastered up state.

He didnt know me, but it was a nice gesture. I even got an email a few weeks later.

He does come across well on TV and interviews he gives in the speedway star are always a good read. I think he has a future in TV if he wants it but I do agree that he is perfect for a role in the future generations but his feelings about the governing bodies and not riding for team GB does cast doubt over this.

As a Coventry fan obviously we have a huge amount to thank Scott Nicholls for, he is in our history books as our most successful captain. He always gets a great reception when he returns.

Would be interesting though who would be most well thought off at the end of there careers,

Scotty or Chris Harris ??

I'd hazard a guess at Scott

The advent of twitter has allowed us to see a different side to speedway riders, it's shown a lot of them up as muppets. Scott on the other hand comes across well, is happy to get involved in discussion with the fans and make his point in a clam and fair way even when other get nasty. He is a real credit to our sport. And as well all know, he's brilliant on Eurosport too.

Agreed. A lot of younger riders (and some team managers) seem to use Twitter to moan and bitch. Scott at least seems professional.

Scott does come over very well on twitter, but do you think he would have come over so well if it had been something available to him when he was in his teens or early twenties?

I should say that I don't mean that as a criticism of Scott, more an excuse for the young riders that don't come over so well...Give them 10 years and see how they approach public communications....

Thats a fair point. Scott was a hot headed fool as a youngster, certainly knew how to cause controversy. But how long do we have to give the likes of Gary Havelock and Chris Harris before they grow up and mature? Or Middlo?

I believe he would be a great ambassador.quote] I agree someone who refuses to ride for his country would be a great ambassador

I dont think it is that Scott doesnt want to ride for GB just he doesnt want to have to pay for the privilege.
