Redcar Promotion.

At it again. Insulting long term hardcore supporters.

Not for the first time either. I myself have stopped attending at the STMP, because of the attitude of the Promotion towards the paying public.

How much longer do the fans at Redcar have to endure this.

Simmo in his defence has been sickened to the back teeth by the current owners/promotors at Redcar Speedway. Their attitude is that its done our way and if you dont like it then go somewhere else. Unfortunately for the owners/promotors, many many supporters at Redcar have taken their advice and have gone elsewhere, probably never to return while they still hold the licence at the track.

Falling crowds, poor promotion, managers not knowing the rules, managers not seeing the point of using a tactical ride as happened recently at peterboro where the Bears came back to grab a draw, which would of been a win had a tactical been used, prospective investors not eben being entertained but offered the chance to be a sponsor, we want your money but you can have no say because its our club and thats how its going to stay. Long standing volunteers and rider sponsors being insulted often in full public view, riders upset by the owners/promotors demands and no longer wanting to be at the club.

Does all this sound familiar to any newcastle supporters ? believe this was how it went at Newcastle the last time they closed maybe just a coincidence that the promoter they had at that time is now one of those running Redcar.

It is my belief that the current people running Redcar Speedway need to get out as soon as possible or there is every chance that Redcar will close its gates for good. They must be very close to operating at a loss with the current attendance levels. Oh....but hold on a second, if they do close the management will only blame the stay away supporters for the clubs demise and wont think for one second that the fans are staying away because of them and their attitude towards the paying public.

Not true, and the coincidence is not relevant. Whilst we as a consortium were buying the promotion off Richard Bailey, Kevin Wild, the owner, told us not to bother as he had gone off speedway and he said we could not be there in 1995. We still went head with the sale, but Wild then reconfirmed he wasn't interested. Only the sale of the stadium to his accountant Eric Armstrong, allowed us to return to Brough in 1997 under me and George English.

In all businesses we owe a duty to our paying customers, we supply what the customer wants to purchase and the service that accompanys that business, unless we heed that our customer base could dwindle or even disappear.

In speedway, a lot of promoters seem to believe we owe them something for running speedway, instead of looking at the paying public as customers, who I promise you, can be very demanding, in my own little businessI have to go overboard to pander to my customers demands, whick I try to do with relish. Speedway is a business in the entertainment industry, if you don't entertain your paying public and treat them with the greatest respect, then sadly you will lose that business, and they will take their hard earned cash elsewhere. There is also a tendancy to run speedway in some cases as a hobby, I don't think you can, as a busines it stands or falls by it's balance sheet, as a hobby it plods along as long as the promotion are in enjoying it, the minute they are not, they will be off like a rabbit in the headlamps.

I personally like people like Brian Havelock, but typical of his era can be a bit forthright, often calling a spade a spade, the type of guy that often puts his mouth in motion before he puts his mind in gear. Cannot say I have spoken to the rest of your promotion.

I would be interested to know what the long term plans are.

If memory serves me right, the initial lease from the council was for 10 years, so an extension to that lease or a new lease will have to be negotiated by the end of 2015.

The way the crowds are disappearing, would there be a willingness to negotiate a longer lease or would the present promotion "cut & run". I can see next season being fraught with uncertainty.

Shame for Redcar really, their fans are a bit moronic at the best of times, but they don't deserve the club being run down like this. They added something when they joined the PL, big crowds, noise and everything else, shame to see it go to waste.

Cheers for ther compliment (I had to look up moronic to see what it meant obviously).

The rumblings about the Promotion have been going on for a while now - there are people interested in helping the club but the current promotion are pretty set in their ways.

Worrying times for the long term future of the club.
