Swift Saint
URGENT PRESS RELEASE FROM STOKE SPEEDWAY Stoke v Kent With three successive victories behind them the Stoke Potters take on the Kent Kings at Loomer Road tonight (Saturday 7.00pm) hoping to reach the National League Cup semi final as the prize for their efforts. The much publicised rain has come and gone ahead of schedule and the track looks in good shape with Stoke ten points ahead from the First Leg and desperately keen to reward their improved support with another win. Stoke are unchanged since last week’s match against Scunthorpe with Adam, Kirby continuing to deputise for James McBain. He anticipates being fit to return when Kings Lynn are the visitors in two weeks time but Kirby has proved to be a capable deputy and the Club have appreciated his presence during McBain’s recuperation. Kent have had a reasonable season so far but have strengthened their line up for this fixture including Benji Compton who returns from injury taking the place of former Stoke rider Luke Chessell who looks likely to join Plymouth. Compton rides the Loomer Road track well and will provide good opposition in the middle order of the Kent side. The winners tonight will face Kings Lynn in the semi final who curiously are at Loomer Road next (19th July) in a National League match. Teams: Stoke: Jon Armstrong, Chris Widman, Ben Hopwood, Lee Payne, Ben Wilson, Rob Shuttleworth, Adam Kirby. Kent: Ben Morley, Scott Campos (Guest for Aaron Baseby)), David Mason, Benji Compton, Simon Lambert (Rider Replacement), Jason Garrad, Danny Ayres. Ben Morley won the Bronze Helmet against Mark Owen of Kings Lynn on Monday and makes a mandatory defence against the best of the Potters tonight. The match is followed by a Midland Development League fixture between Stoke Spitfires and Coventry Mercia Vikings. blueherb777
Kent have very little or no chance. Stoke will increase their 10 point lead.

waco
With Lambert absent yet again..( begs the question why he was made captain , instead of Mason a natural in the job) the Kings have little chance at Stoke who already carry a 10 point advantage into this leg ..All the boys can do is their best and have pride in performance and put on a show for the fans.... Kent Whistle Gang
With Lambert absent yet again..( begs the question why he was made captain , instead of Mason a natural in the job) the Kings have little chance at Stoke who already carry a 10 point advantage into this leg ..All the boys can do is their best and have pride in performance and put on a show for the fans.... Yep, it's difficult to see how we can keep it close at Stoke, let alone conjour up an aggregate win. When I watched Stoke beat us in the NT at their place on 3rd May, Lambert and Chessell (both ex-Stoke BTW) were our main men. Nether of them ride tonight of course (for different reasons) so let's just hope our guys do the best they can. Any ideas why we've got a guest for Baseby? Old Crusader
Saturday, July 5, 2014 NATIONAL LEAGUE KO CUP Q/F 2nd leg STOKE 58: Ben Wilson 15, Jon Armstrong 11+2, Chris Widman 10+2, Lee Payne 9, Ben Hopwood 8+2, Adam Kirby 4, Rob Shuttleworth 1. KENT 32: David Mason 10, Danny Ayres 8+1, Ben Morley 6+1, Benji Compton 4+1, Scott Campos 4, Jason Garrad 0, Simon Lambert r/r. Stoke win 108-72 on aggregate. How can Ben Morley score so well in the Elite but not in NL and PL?
Falcon Hammer
Good day out, but totally outclassed by Stoke. Danny Ayres was pick of the bunch with 2 heat wins, although the last one was gifted as Payne fell on the last lap whilst leading. Well done to Chris Widman, thought he deserved to challenge Ben for the Bronze Helmet after picking up a PM. Great cutback on T4 to win the rerun of Ht8, after getting knocked off by his teammate and being stuck under the fence in the first running. Track was well watered so no dust flying about today. Did drag a bit due to a delay for the setting sun, and then another delay just before the match race the lights went out!

blueherb777
How can Ben Morley score so well in the Elite but not in NL and PL? Very good question. Also it was a near impossible task with Lambert - without him it was impossible,
