Eastbourne V King's Lynn 05/07/14

Recommended Posts

That bloody track was a disgrace, loads of dirt up against the boards on the bends so if any rider went wide for one reason or another off the came, I was absolutely fuming!

All the bloody years Bob has been doing that track, if that's his way of giving his team an advantage, best thing he can do is bloody retire! No wonder the crowd was poo, he doesn't deserve anything better providing a sh#t track like that for racers to race on!!!!!!!!!!! You should be ashamed Bob Dugard!

How annoying it was after the main meeting to see this garden tractor come out with a small blade on and blade a whole load of the thick shale to right near the boards before the kids came out to race! So the track was unsafe for the kids but the blokes had to cope with it, just great!!! NOT

A hollow victory for Eastbourne borne only by cheating from their promoter, the damn ref has to take some responsibility too IMO, he should have told Bob to blade it all off or move it around the track!

Just home, congrats to Eastbourne for their win but I have to say the Stars completely threw that one away. From Porsing rearing up and dropping from second to last in heat one through to Niels fencing Rory in heat 15 we wasted a shed load of points, at least ten scanning through the programme in the shape of falls, going too wide, staying down low on the final bend with all the grip out wide or not cutting back in the first bend off gate four when there was never going to be room to get round. We gated really well all night but just couldn't hold on to our positions, really ought to have been all four points.

The meeting swung Eastbourne's way with the heat seven 0-5 which was an awful refereeing decision, Lewis hit the fourth bend fence almost coming to a standstill but managed to get going again before Lahti came round bend three yet the red lights went on and the race was awarded despite there being no damage to the fence. Baffling.

Thought the shale was too heavy on the outside with very little effort made to pull it back despite a thousand laps by the Bobmobile but the Arlington circuit is just too narrow and there is so little room for error, a terrible racetrack really. On a positive note there was an excellent 125cc programme after the main meeting with some highly promising youngsters taking part, this is something every track in the UK should be doing for the future of the sport, very impressed.

For those people who are worried that we are running out of steam just cast your mind back to August 2009 when we went to Birmingham and Scunthorpe on successive August days and suffered two hidings, yet went on to win the PL treble. Is not been a great week but we've scored 40 away from home twice without TR's and without performing at all. Just a blip for me, have a look at the table if in any doubt of what this team is capable of and keep the faith.

Hollow maybe, but if it stops your arrogant/whinging supporters from celebrating winning the title it will have been worth it !!

For me it used to be ABP ( anyone but Poole) but will sub the P for an L from now on

Wow! you do have a problem. Compared to some of the poster from others clubs, I think the Stars supporter are quite mellow, and anything slightly offensive, is usually said in jest. I have urged them many time to get off the fence, so where these celebrations are, I haven't seen them......

Obviously disappointed at the way we lost, although this was always going to be difficult. With riders falling in 7 races, the writing was on the wall. You can't give the opposing team 21 guaranteed points and expect to win. The Ref exclusion of Kerr was the last straw. It was never going to happen. Best we regroup and move on.

Congratulation to Eastbourne on their victory and hope it goes some way of tempting lost supporter back and new owners found.

Wow, where on earth does that spiteful attitude come from? I bet you were the mouthy beggar on the home straight who was celebrating victory with no grace at all and giving Rory grief after/during heat 15.

Poor show.

Erm, would that be because the "blokes" are professional (i.e paid and experienced) speedway riders, some of world class calibre, and most people would expect them to deal with and / or adapt to any track conditions they face, whilst the "kids" are but beginners.........??

How Kings Lynn didnt beat the shower of rubbish that calls itself the eagles is beyond me. Joonas should be sacked pure and simple. Jon Cook must have laughed his cock off when he sold him back to Eastbourne.

Rubbish team and worse track. Have to agree with Trees and Star Lady.

Sad thing is that no one in their right mind will take over at Eastbourne because they won't be allowed to run it their way despite the bull in the local rag. Brimson tried as did Hagon but both were quashed when they wanted to implement changes.

Yes I'm gutted that my club might fold but maybe it should .

Speedway, and Eastbourne I particular needs to roll with the times.

As for the elite league, what a crock of rubbish

What a disgusting and disgraceful post from Trees, This must surely be grounds for a libel action, I trust someone will draw this to Bob's attention. Surely this also puts the Forum at risk so what are the Moderators doing?

Have to admit it has swung my allegiance also from Kings Lynn to Poole for the title.

What is it about fans.

You have Eastbourne fans accusing KL fans of be arrogant and KL fans accusing Eastbourne of cheating.

Why cant we just all enjoy our sport the best we can without slagging everyone off at any opportunity?

KL fans are not arrogant

Eastbourne promotion dont cheat.

Surely we are all effectively on the same side anyway and that's the fact we all support speedway. The way its going, non of us will have speedway to watch in 5 years or so.

As for the match. I am surprised EB pulled of a win last night.

Joonas must go

Bad ref decision on the exclusion.

Until somebody from Poole says something you don't like and it settings back again? Dear me. How about ignoring what people say and basing any allegiance on the riders and club itself.

Joonas must go

While I appreciate how poor he was last night some of the booing and dogs abuse he got from some Eagles 'fans' near us was disgusting. I wonder if any of them went into the pits after the meeting to repeat it to his face?

What did you think of the state of the track then? I hope I have offended Bob after last night, I remember shouting at him in 2000 too cos I thought he was being unfair to the away team.

All promoters should prepare their tracks for great racing not home track advantage because we all want to be entertained first and foremost!

Trees, asking the Eastbourne fans if they're happy with the track is pointless. They're clearly happy as they're turning up week in week out. It's the supporters that ain't turning up and why the clubs up for sale that the question needs to be asked to.

The truth is and many Eastbourne fans have made comment on it in the past, they've put out the cheapest possible team every year, setting the track up in their favour to look better than they are. Year in year out their way performances tell you how bad they really are.

But I think people have to remember that these remaining fans may now be without speedway and that isn't a situation any of us want to be in so they may be highly charged and a little touchy about negutive comments even if justified.

Not sure who your talking about but one irate supporter there forked out £500 to sponsor his racing outfit, having seen JKs performances this season I think he should come round to the home straight stand and publicly refund him his £500.

What's up with Joonas then, when you're down surely the last thing you need is booing?

Surely the management would have got rid if they thought he was taking the micky?

Wouldn't it be great if all those booing Eastie fans went to Joonas and found out his prob, perhaps with support he could turn his season around, he's a better rider than he's showing!

Don't know what's up with Joonas but it's not exactly a 'one off' thing, his performances have always been erratic - maybe his mind is elsewhere, longtrack perhaps ? This has happened before, longtrack, GP qualifiers etc, but the point is we have paid money, and by default his wages, to see him ride speedway for Eastbourne and it is not unreasonable to expect a bit of effort. We don't care if he is multi world longtrack champion, it hasn't translated into performances for Eastbourne - he might as well be world tiddlywinks champion for the impact it's having!

The problem with Eastbourne can be summed up with the coaching statement along the lines of "If you continue to do the same things you'll continue to get the same results".

Good 3 points for the Eagles on a track that all teams know has some home advantage - its not like its only happened this season - but some teams can ride it better than others!!

As Lance-Corporal Wilson often said - 'They don't like it up 'em, Captain Mainwearing!!' :D

A brave decision to run this meeting up against Wimbledon and the World Cup, but Bob does like his Saturdays - at least for this season!!

Cheating you say, so Eastbourne were riding a different track to Kings Lynn were they?

After being a speedway fan most of my life I am shocked that fans are getting so nasty with opposition supporters. When Eastbourne closed in the 1990s I travelled to Kings Lynn every Saturday with my two young sons. We were made very welcome by the locals. I have always had a soft spot for Kings Lynn ever since.

Eastbourne are in extreme danger of losing their speedway and need all the support they can get.

I don't think I've ever been to a track before where the home fans booed a home rider.. let alone to that extent! That was the most surprising thing for me on my first visit to Eastbourne tbh.

Every team has had a rider that doesn't perform at some point, often consistently, but I don't see how booing helps anything? Just makes him feel unwelcome which isn't going to encourage a better performance. Makes for a very strange (not particularly pleasant) atmosphere for away fans visiting the track. I may not have been keen on some aspects of the home fans - i.e. booing home riders, cheering when away riders fall, but I have to admit Eastbourne fans are certainly vocal and passionate about their team.
