Berwick V Plymouth 5/7/2014 @ 7pm

Recommended Posts

Quite simply a must win meeting for Berwick, Matej Kus is back from illness, hopefully Mathew Wethers will be fit enough to return, though nothing has been confirmed one way or the other, for those Berwick fans who are thinking of giving this meeting a miss might find the incentive from this, which is taken from todays Berwick Speedway Newsletter.

Your promotion, and your Bandits, are well aware of the way things collapsed -- the best-laid plans, etc, etc --- around our ears on Saturday as the Panthers of Peterborough deservedly lifted the points. There are no excuses.

Promoter Dennis McCleary today issued a rallying call to everyone -- team riders, all our crew and every Berwick fan who is proud to be a Bandit!

He has highlighted that Saturday will bring Britain's No 4 rider (and Shielfield Park specialist) Ben Barker back to Berwick and that the New Holland Bandits will be determined to prove last week's horrors were a one-night-only affair. This will be a great match, and well worth your patronage

Everyone -- and that means YOU -- is encouraged to be at Shielfield Park this Saturday night, to kick-start the second half of what we fully intend to be our best season of the past decade. Let's make it so!

Edit. Ex-Berwick rider Josef Franc has signed for Plymouth and will be making his debut for his new club this Saturday.

I think Plymouth will push us close. I think they will beat Ippo on Friday.

Franc for Katajiisto strengthens them especially round here. If Rasmus Jensen gets going we are in trouble

Giving the events of the last couple of weeks, especially last weeks drubbing, defeat is not an option. I`m hoping all of the riders have been left in no doubt about that.

Teams for Saturday.

Berwick

1 Claus Vissing

2 David Bellego

3 Steen Jensen

4 Mathew Wethers

5 Keven Doolan

6 Matej Kus

7 Liam Carr

Plymouth

1 Ben Barker

2 R/R

3 Josef Franc

4 Kyle Newman

5 Rasmus Jensen

6 Roland Benko

7 Zdenek Simota

I am sure there is a perfectly good reason for it but IMO we should be swapping Bellego around with Doolan.

The reason being being able to declare a result after heat 10 at home means your no1 and no2 riders have an extra ride and before last weeks debacle David was the best option

Are we really putting a team together just in case a meeting is called after Ht10, I bet no other PL team have thought of this, yet again Berwick leading the way.

Could be worse if Fricke was in as per last week he outscored anything Jensen would have and stregnthened the Devils considerebly still time for a mystery ailment to happen though.

I think in fairness Bellego has been riding at 2 all season til recent and you always have Kus partnered with Doolan in several races. Worth thinking about though?

Hope I am not asking too much, but:-

1. All 7 riders on track.

2, All 7 riders working together for a win.

3. The track back to how it was prepared earlier in the season. Certainly not like last week and the week before and the Ipswich meeting.

4. All of our fans get behind every rider in the team we have.

5. Hope Pepe does not do too well (love him to bits, don't however want him to teach us a lesson) like Nicky Barret did.

6. Good close racing, but beating Plymouth by 10 points ( no prima-donnas after track records)

All of this incorporated with that important hour before the meeting and the three hours after the meeting, where all the real fans meet in The B&G.

Are we down to just one team manager now Razor has stepped down or will there be someone new brought in to assist heppy with his duties?

If at all possible there should always be just one team manager IMO.
