keepturningleft
I was obviously so excited by the evening that I couldn't drive my car properly afterwards. The police pulled me over on the M50 and breathalysized me for erratic driving!! The Cardiff event has now evolved into something truly special. When you think that this very same event was held years ago at Odsal, a fairly ramshackle stadium and with little in the way of presentation. Compare that with what we've got now at the Millennium Stadium. It's the duty of every speedway fan to drag a speedway virgin to Cardiff next year. Those people may not become regulars but at least they will know what speedway is and just what a fantastic showpiece event we've got - how could anyone not be impressed by Cardiff? PS I hadn't been drinking and the cops let me off with a mild slap on the wrist! PPS Great track at Odsal 'though!
crazysue
Next year, no matter what, I WILL be going! Been far too long since I last went and although it will be more difficult to arrange (have to consider a wheelchair and fatigue now), even if I have to get on the one day coach, I am blooming well going! SCB
Great meeting, not a bad result (Tai top scored) the while thing just gets it right. I've been to every Cardiff GP and I still wake up excited, in buzzing on the train down and then stepping into the stadium is WOW!! Just a shame about the idiots we had sat behind us who kicked off because me and my 5 year old niece were supporting Tai and not Greg - in the British GP and because we were blowing a horn FFS!!! Most importantly, Dietbowers got his sausageroll!!
Sgt. Hartsock
So the gating tart won again....... hope there was something exciting to do while he was on track.[/quote He does a lot of damage to speedway, there are of course a lot of reasons it's not popular, but the general public all say it's the gate and go tarts like him why they do not go. So thanks Greg it's because of you hardly anyone goes anymore.
Halifordukesfan
Gregs acknowledgment of the whole crowd deserves special mention.
Sgt. Hartsock
Doesn't help much when he arrives at a local track, and thinks he has come on the wrong day.
Starman2006
NOT tongue in cheek at all... Millennium far better suited to a speedway event of this nature than either Wembley or the Olympic stadium., neither of which have a roof (protection against the weather and able to turn the stadium from day to night and back again). Also Cardiff has so much more to offer than the area around Wembley for example and for so many is more accessible geographically. Except the hotels take the piss. But then its probably one of few weekends they actually make any money, so you either pay it, or you don't. its called a captive Audiance. Track held up quite well, and im pleased to hear BSI spent a little bit, appart from the presentation twiddly bits the track is their stage, to a massive TV Audiance. Starman2006
Lol! Given that his job is managing editor of the biggest speedway advert in the world suggests he at least does his bit. I'm no fan, I don't even buy the Star but usually get to read it second hand, but if everyone, including you, did a fraction of what Rising does to promote speedway then it would be one of the biggest sports in the world. National press could help, but they don't.

Greg Hancock to blame for falling attendances? What planet are you on... And just as an aside ... when Greg met people from Great Ormond Street Hospital at the post-meeting Press Conference within seconds he promised to come over from Sweden especially to visit the hospital and to see the extremely poorly kids that are treated there. Top rider and a top bloke as well. He also gave away some items of his racing gear including a signed steel shoe to the couple who donated £10,000 to Tai's GOSH charity ride during the course of the meeting.

The word Legend is very easily used nowdays, but that is what Greg is to speedway. Top man. Edited July 13, 2014 by Starman2006
Agrotron
You didn't say that you didn't like a rider did you? That is quite different. I am sure we all have riders we are not keen on mine is Greg Hancock
Starman2006
I am sure we all have riders we are not keen on mine is Greg Hancock From my point of view i can't say i hate any one rider. But i do have riders im more of a fan of if you like. Greg proved himself to be a very ameanable bloke when he rode for us last year. ive always liked Chris from the days he rode for the IOW and Darcy has had an awful lot of bad publicity in the last few years, but really he is a good lad.The same as Antonio Lindback. I also have a lot of time for Kyle Newman, at the other end of the scale if you like, does all the right things, superb with sponsors and appreciates everything he gets, good with fans kids and parents come across very well still open to a lot of improvement if he can stay clear of any injuries.
TheReturn
The word Legend is very easily used nowdays, but that is what Greg is to speedway. Top man. Especially by Pearson, every other person is a legend according to him, so when a real legend deserves the status of legend it is undervalued because of the overuse of the word. Is Hancock a legend? It depends how you define a legend I guess, is it in titles or longevity at the highest standard. If the latter then maybe Hancock is worthy of the legend status. Anybody you admire that doesnt ride for Poole lol In all seriousness Holder 'grew up' and now maybe Darcy might slowly do the same. It was good to see him ride with his head at Cardiff for a change as usually he would be winding it all on hitting ruts and coming down. Maybe his earlier fall made him realise he had to respect the track for a change.
