World Cup Qualifier Terenzano July 5th

So the joker wins the day!

At least Vincetin beat Stojs in the last heat to ensure the margin was equal to the double point rubbish.

Russia would have had a good chance of going through if they had a 4 man team with the fourth man scoring say 5 or 6, that would have taken points off the other teams and maybe put Russia at the top. Of course if they fielded there best team then it would have been a walkover.

Slovenia were a 1 man team basically, Likewise Germany relying on Smoli, but he fell in an interesting line up.

Italy happened to have strength in depth, but were last at one point.

Not keen on the joker, in a way it keeps score close, but a team loses because it has not been able to play a joker!

Yeah I agree, it is artificial competitiveness and it is the same with tactical substitute, only the trailing team can use it.

That has the same participants ain the heats as the other ones... wonder if Dave Allan's workbook has the helmet colours wrong-

Red Italy

Blue Germany

White Russia

Yellow Slovenia.

The original colours were for reference purposes only, just showing the competitors. Events 1 & 2 are the same, re-arrange the team names if necessary once the draw is revealed.

Thanks for your PM - coding error now corrected across each round and the workbook, with qualifying round results completed, has been reloaded to http://www.dropbox.com/s/8z042fnfvqun2ra/SWC%202014%20Series%20Workbook.xlsx

What fauts can you find in this 'Daily Mirror' report Monday July 7 2014?

SPEEDWAY Covatti aims to rule World

BIRMINGHAM star Nicolas Covatti helped produce a World Cup shock by leading unfancied Italy into this month's finals.

Covetti, 26, top-scored with 15 points as the Italians booked their place at King's Lynn on July 26 when they'll take on Great Britain, Australia and America.

Is it that you have spelt his name Covatti + Covetti? And you spelt faults as fauts!!!!

Thank you. Both spelling/keyboard errors on my part. Now amended. But it's more than just a case of "my fat fingers"! Have another try at answer my question in its correct format. I know you are waiting to!

Go on John, you are dying to impress us all with your perception of the use of the word "finals" are you not

You want to point out that the event at Kings Lynn is not the final itself.

To be honest I think the terminology is correct. Events 1 and 2 together with the race off and Final form part of the World Cup week and can be correctly termed as having made the finals

so the potential to see 2 or even 3 of the BEST riders in the world lost and instead we will see Italy attempt to set a world record lowest score at a speedway meeting.

No wonder speedway is thought of as a joke sport :(

I think Italy have a good chance of establishing 0 as a speedway score :)

Bloody shame :( (Not Italy ....Russia)
