george.m
If that amounts to me having a chip on my shoulder , then so be it . There's good hearted banter by both sets of the speedway Old Firm on BSF and I hope it continues. It's just a bit of fun and gets my out of the housework when Mrs M tells me to shake a leg! There's a lot of mickey taking on both sides and certainly in the last year or so it's got better (and a better atmosphere) with the likes of Mr B (constantly on the wind up) and a few other new Moanarchs too. Sometimes we all read something that flicks our switch, but in general its good hearted. FFS don't make this a Berwick thread, there's some numpties on there that would argue over their team doing a league and Cup double! The new Monarchs on here are mostly the younger version who have really only known success in their speedway supporting life . As opposed to some of the ones who would take the huff at the least little dig . Very refreshing . Though i better get the packet of oven chips back on my shoulder now , don't want to be lopsided walking to work .

Once powderhall closed that was it until 2 years ago. i can truthfully say that when Glasgow are playing anyone else i like them to win, but when it comes to us, then something changes. It also helps that youse are crap this year and it lets us be so Smug, onwards and Upwards

Chris Hutcheson
Now i'm home from work i see what you're banging on about . It's very simple . Edinburgh are the best side in the Premier League at the moment . They are closing in on Arena Essex's record of unbeaten matches in 1991 . When an away side rolls up at Armadale , is it an evenly matched contest ? I think not . Yes Peterborough did okay on Friday , but the norm is a big home win . Does a big home win throw up exciting speedway ? I think not . Now onto us , are we one of the top sides in the league ? Not at the moment . When an away side rolls up at Ashfield , is it an evenly matched contest ? Sometimes . Meetings like we had yesterday is the result of two evenly matched sides on a well prepared track . Yes we are envious of the Monarchs' success , of course we would love to be top of the league , who wouldn't . But as a lover of speedway , give me what i watched yesterday instead of a forgone conclusion . If that amounts to me having a chip on my shoulder , then so be it . While I understand your sentiment, I have also said "I hope it's a bit closer this week" but it isn't always a foregone conclusion to me. I'm not sure we have seen a meeting where all of our team firing at once, and there have almost always been decent heats each week. Maybe we haven't had last heat deciders and the like, but heat-by-heat speedway is still exciting! Also, our unbeaten run does include a fair few away matches! Why are matches at Armadale not matched? Should have our promotion picked riders that wouldn't perform well? I think as a neutral or an away team supporting tigger it may not be enjoyable. But as a Monarch fan I will ride the wave and enjoy it while it lasts. Next season we will probably be living LAC (Life after Cookie) and it could be very different. I'm sure, as you suggested in your post, you would switch places if you could.

I doubt we'll switch places, we've made being crap an art form! Onwards and downwards! Edited July 1, 2014 by george.m
