These FIM junior titles are a bit strange that way.Wasn't it last year that they had a "speedway" meeting on a grass track? And then later on in the season had a grass track meeting at the same place. No consistency

.I wonder if the movement for "No airfence=no speedway" are also going to campaign for this in junior speedway etc?Would mean a number of 80cc tracks in Denmark/Sweden having problems

Great little meeting in Plzen yesterday! I'm so prouf of Jarno de Jong dominating the final. Shame the A final had to be rerun after a crash with Bickley, Meijer and one of the Poles. Bickley was excluded for that and Meijer could not attend the rerun.

These 125cc Cup meetings (FIM and FIM Europe) can be held on both grasstrack or speedway tracks. The FIM one will be held on Bad Hersfeld which is a grasstrack.

Wasn't the recent European Grasstrack Final held on a sand(long)track????Thought i saw a convo on the net about the meeting.Someone announcing they were going to the Grasstrack Final, someone saying "but that is a sandtrack" and the other guy who was the announcer saying "yes i know, but the title of the meeting is European Grasstrack"!!!!!! Amazing if true :o

It's no surprise folk are puzzled with these FIM & UEM (now 'FIM-Europe') categories, but the Youth Gold Trophy table on the Speedway Champions site might help in understanding how they came about. I've added the dates and venues for this season's other Classes, (though in previous years they have been known to change before the day, so don't criticise, please.)

Changes are not unusual, - note that the 80cc Speedway class is now 85cc - , but the fact that at the senior level, the continentals group Grasbahn and Sandbahn together under the all-embracing term Langbahn, and for the UK our Grass Track slips in there: - it often looks to me that straights can be grass but the eroded bends have evolved to sand, so whats to distinguish - ?

Longtrack and Speedway (together with Ice Racing,) have for many years fallen under FIM's 'Track Racing' grouping, and this seems to have been how/where the authorities are being clever, - or coping out, take your pick - , for the 'FIM-Europe' website has yesterday's Plzen meeting registered as the 'Youth Track Racing 125cc Cup'. Other senior events are still Grass Track or Speedway, but not this one!

If you need to know what it actually was , these shots of the venue should clarify, but it does seem that, as stated above, the speedway and Grass meetings are inter-changable.

Yes the semi final was held on the most boring track of Germany, Mulmshorn, which is a 700 meter long/sand track ;)

Yes.I went there twice.First time i thought "well maybe it was just a bad meeting".After the second meeting was just as bad i have never set foot in the place again :nono:
