Amazing.

And fantastic news.

Wasn't too impressed by Sky showing a replay of it.

I don't think Nigel liked it either.

Those knocking Berwick, their track and the racing it brings should think before they prattle on. The constraints they suffer when running with a track around a football pitch leaves them very little scope to improve their product. Do they want them to close? Any speedway is better than none especially at places like Berwick where from my many visits there they seem very proud to have their team. Have seen far less interesting meetings from tracks like Lakeside Wolverhampton Belle Vue Coventry on sky. Best wishes to Matty for a speedy recovery

Fair point :approve:

Berwick isn't a good track for racing but they really did pull out all the stops for the sky meeting last season and they deserved another crack at it.

Those who judge the PL as a whole on the basis of that meeting should remember that Berwick wouldn't be in the top ten circuits for racing in that league.

Edinburgh v Working was turgid, absolutely rancid as a spectacle, zero entertainment and an utter dump of a stadium, how that looked to a possible newcomer god knows.

If attracting the newcomers is a concern best to offer a few words of advice on an Edinburgh thread before spending so much time obsessing over Berwick. :t:

Crowds have been very good at the Dale, and i have seen more than a few new faces so i dont really know where you're coming from on that one to be honest..We have our duff meetings there the same as most other tracks, but sometimes that depends whether the opposition have come to have a good go or not as the case may be.More often than not i would say,the racing is excellent..that's why i go believe it or not! ;) As for obsessing about Berwick..nah lol!Was just passing comment on last night's meeting and the general standard of racing at Shielfield on a Berwick V Edinburgh thread..that's what this forums for is it not? :P

Great news about both riders :approve: Now hopefully Matty can get married as was intended this weekend :t:

And you don’t think it is the same at Berwick...

When Edinburgh riders spend the weeks before a meeting on Twitter referencing that the track is gate and go it is little wonder that they turn up.... they gate and they go.....riders of a more positive attitude tend to put on a better show, the Newcastle meeting last year being a perfect example of that.

The need for Edinburgh riders and fans to convince everyone that Berwick offers little entertainment and Armadale is so wonderful is slightly odd, irespective of the thread it is written on, but I suppose that is just a Monarchs fan thing and always has been. :t:

I'm not trying to convince anybody and i doubt Edinburgh riders & fans are either.. just speaking as i find like you do..nothing odd about that is there Sparky? :t: Berwick does have a nice stadium and by and large nice fans promotion etc but the product on offer is not something i would lash out my hard earned on every week as much as i love speedway but there ya go.Aye i do think we serve up bloody good racing at the Dale most of the time, because as i said,if it was otherwise i wouldnt go!Fair play to the Bandits diehards for going along to support their team every week..you have my respect, but you'll excuse me if i would decline a weekly visit..just saying ;)

Armadale to Monarchs fans is like that old pair of slippers someone has had for years.

The owner thinks they're wonderful and is attached to them.

To anyone else coming into the house, they think they smell, are falling to bits and need replacing. ;)

Excellent news regarding both riders - it did look bad. I am sure they will feel very second-hand for a few days

I have supported speedway for a long time but as every year goes by I am more and more appreciative of the potential dangers the riders put themselves through for our entertainment.

Agree Armadale does produce it's fair share of passing, no doubt.

What I would say though is it's mostly from the home team which is thrilling if you're a Monarch, but isn't if you're not.

I agree it does too..Believe it or not George i'm putting my Monarchs scarf away for a few moments and looking at it from a Speedway fans viewpoint!!;)

What a dull meeting, besides Heat 12.

Heat 14 took the shine off it and i just hope Matt and Aaron are OK.

Dreadful dreadful crash.

That`s 2 huge crashes in PL meetings now on SKY.

Thank god for air fences.

Heat 14 took the shine off a dull meeting?

Yes because they are doing well, ... Were they not undecided if they were running a few year back after an average season? it's the same as on here, if the Monarchs are doing well there is plenty of you posting, if they arnt whipping everyone, you can count the posters on one hand.... End of ;)

Absolutely superb news about Matty and Aaron.
It's one of the worst crashes that I have seen, I was shaking after seeing Matty go over the fence.

I've now lost count of the number of times the safety fence has taken a large part of the impact.

It shows the fine line between a breath-taking pass and a stomach-churning crash.

On the never ending track shouting from Edinburgh, I always feel races are over before they have started as the track is so small.

I always feel that invariably the passes are made as a result of rider mistakes rather than actual racing.

The passes last night were high speed and hard earned, much more my cup of tea.

Having said that about small tracks, shape is obviously a factor too, as I always find Redcar to produce excellent racing.

A couple of us had around 30 newcomers last night, maybe a couple will become regulars, most will come back again on occasion, everyone enjoyed it.

Interestingly, a lot of them were fascinated by the way the riders moved their body positions on the bikes. Never mentioned the track or passing.

It maybe shows how unhealthy an obsession certain fans have about tracks and passing?

Deluded... My 5 year old son loved Berwick his first couple of times because it was fast and noisy.... He sharp got bored though of how processional it was... He'd watch until they came past us on the back straight first lap then lose interest.... No doubt the majority of newbies would aswell, once they learned about speedway.

Some greeting going on about the lack of passes......Berwick were just sharper and quicker....dry your eyes.

Nothing wrong with the track...at least Matej Kus didn't think so anyway.

Class news that bother Wethers and Fox are okay. (horrible accident).

I think you must have missed the bit about the guys who were really looking at the riding...

yes but once they come back and know about speedway, they will no doubt become they same, going to speedway as a newbie is exciting... It sharp wains in my experience, people want entertainment and value for money. It's not the 60, 70 or 80s where people will be diehards through blind faith like us.
