Fromafar
That's not Berwick's normal fence , did SKY insist on the full air fence ? That looked like the normal fence but I might be wrong.
Jacques
They're not liked and are apparently arrogant. But they don't break rules left right and centre. And there promoter has been BSPA chairman the last 5 years and has failed badly. in the future I'm sure we'll look back on the last few years as some of the weakest managed and most corrupt in a long time. Hmmmmm.I think I prefer Paulco's view on it all

Lord Antebellum
That's not Berwick's normal fence , did SKY insist on the full air fence ? That was most certainly Berwick's brilliant foam-fence. Along with King's Lynn's, these are the two safest fences in British speedway. If it had been an airfence, Matthew Wethers might have been even-more badly hurt.
Hel'n'Back
Thanks Sky! Even though I recorded the following 3 events on the Sky channel I still missed the result of the last heat! Best wishes go out to Matty Wethers and Aaron Fox in that horrific crash. Edited August 12, 2014 by Hel'n'Back
Crump99
whereas now it a case of race, win, trundle back to pits Whereas that's been pretty standard at Peterborough since Bratley left. PL hasn't made any difference either apart from the odd occasion when someone remembers that fan interaction is good
stevebrum
What a dull meeting, besides Heat 12. Heat 14 took the shine off it and i just hope Matt and Aaron are OK. Dreadful dreadful crash. That`s 2 huge crashes in PL meetings now on SKY. Thank god for air fences.
Chris Hutcheson
Pretty similar to what I saw at Edinburgh v Berwick a few weeks ago Berwick were wrank rotten that night though. Tonight we showed we had capabilities of winning a race or two if we gated.Pretty similar to what I saw at Edinburgh v Berwick a few weeks ago Berwick were wrank rotten that night though. Mr Blobby
Well done to the bandits on the win best out the gate on the night which is all that matters really round there. Max and Sam a bit below par didn't help and Derek needs to get his act together or step a side i'm afraid. The big delay cost us big time IMO all momentum was going our way until it all went a bit flat. Hope Aaron and Matty are okay also. Another point the start marshall raking certain gates very fair that. Edited August 12, 2014 by Mr Blobby
Monarchlad
That delay before heat 15 probably cost the Moanarchs a point. Encouragimg result for Berwick, but if I was the Edinburgh promotion I'd be choosing Berwick as their play off opponent, they'll win on aggregate very easilyHis Scotch pies are top notch, but as a team manager?Pretty similar to what I saw at Edinburgh v Berwick a few weeks ago Maybe when they are against a crap team, but it is the same at Berwick each week, and that came from Berwick fans, that's why they are not going.......according to Bandits I can think of half a dozen passes tonight. There was also plenty of close races. Berwick is a very fast track and there isn't much we can do about the shape because is it round a football pitch which isn't going to move. It would be brilliant to have a purpose built track of our own, but in this day and age there are very few councils who would pass planning permission for a track, certainly not the one in Berwick. So it is Shielfield or nothing. Not that I am complaining because there has been some very good racing there this season. Name the half dozen passes? Wrong on all four points Don't think so!!.....but if you enjoy watch no passing every week
magnificentseven
Really hope Matt Wethers is ok. I have liked Matt ever since he rode for the junior team at Wolves when he first came over. He has always battled hard when he has ridden for Wolves and never let us down. Really hope he makes a speedy recovery from his injuries. Crashes like that really do put into perspective a lot of the stupid arguments that take place on the forum. Wolfie Another point the start marshall raking certain gates very fair that. Bob Dugard at Eastbourne has been grading the gates used by the home riders for years - referees always seem to have a blind eye turned when those things happen
Young51
I'm curious, are the Monarchs the PL version of Poole...? I couldnt possibly tell you an answer to that on this super family friendly forum or what i really think of Matt & his Poole Pi-rats without using profanities..so i'll just say very politely..nut!Where the hell did you get that idea from anyway..just curious like?! scotchopper
Just watched it back again, high speed with a couple of close races with faster riders chasing but not finding a way past. Only 1 genuine pass in completed races that was vissing on masters in heat 6, imho passing before bend 3 of lap one doesn't count. Real precessional stuff and I would struggle to watch that every week. The real difficulty in passing was summed up in ht14 when a track specialist had to go back wheel chasing against one of the weakest riders on the night unfortunately misjudged it and we had a massive crash. One of the worst I have seen in 35years watching speedway. Really hope both riders are OK, thoughts with them tonight. Well done to Berwick on their win, really sharp and determined. Monarchs developing a couple of cracks but would rather get them out of the way now before the real important meetings start.
Young51
Don't bite ! Well, this Elite Leaguer enjoyed it a lot. The best Speedway meetings by a mile this year on Sky have been the PL meetings. I'm so bored with the gates were doctored, bad decision SH!te.. It was a good meeting and oh my, I know they described the track as fast, but it came across as that too..Brilliant! I love the passion and true grit showed tonight, not a hint of arrogance in interviews either. Well done Berwick. Best wishes to Whethers, that crash was horrific! You think that..really?!Jeez you must be starved of what passes for good speedway then..
spittalbandit
Ok not lot of passing . However great result . Atmosphere was best i have seen in ages at berwick. The good thing though was the amount of new people st the meeting. I brought one myself and they enjoyed it . Hope arron and matty not too badly hurt . As to matej kus stunning at minute. As i said pre season he was all up for it and had sorted out head. So all the doubters plz eat your words.should have been in ht 14 same as should have had extra ride at redcar. Hopefully team managment can learn . Alex still ok imo thats paid 18 in three meetings fair return from reserve.

g13webb
Never been a lover of the Berwick track, and aware of their restraint , so well done to all the riders, what for to me was an enjoyable meeting. Competitive , Fast, Compelling, I thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle. Pity about the crash in Ht 14 but please to see Berwick got the verdict dispite a tremendous comeback from the Monarchs .. Thought the Ref was weak and let too many starts go, Should have clamped down earlier, Kus was the Star and should have had 7 rides. The Manager must've been kacking himself having missed 2 if not 3 opportunities to give him them extra rides. but it all came good in the end...... Pity, a good meeting will be remembered for the bad accident....
screm
Quite an extraordinary night of racing at Shielfield, one which I am sure Sky would've lapped up. Meeting looked done and dusted at the end of Ht10, Berwick 18pts up, having seen off both tactical rides, but then a fantastic come back from Edinburgh which left us with a last heat decider, step up Bellego & Kus who became hero`s on the night. Obviously the meeting was marred by a nasty crash involving Matty Wethers and Aaron Fox, I haven't yet heard of any definitive news as yet on both riders but I hope for some good news later today on both riders. Take away the Sky razzamatazz and it was another good win for Berwick, over the team top of the pile. Wether its by luck or judgement but Berwick are on to something with this team, could turn out to be a very exciting end to the season. I haven't read the other post so I`m sorry if this has already been posted but it was announced last night that there will be a double header meeting coming up on the 23rd of August, with Newcastle and Rye House being the opposition, the meeting will start at 6-30pm. Also Berwick will take on Workington at Shielfield on Wednesday September 10th at 7-30pm, with admission prices being reduced to £10 for the meeting.
