StephenMiller
OK now I'm getting the infamous 404 error. Then again, what is there to discuss until someone announces plans for 2015 ?, which I'd have thought is unlikely before late autumn/winter. Brummies fans forum is back online, but seems to have lost all messages posted since mid-June ??
guitar_art
Its a shame that this thread, which should be dedicated to the fight to bring back the Brummies, has decended into farce and arguments. Shame on those of you joining in.

BeoBrummie
I haven't seen the article but I can guess what was in it - it was everybody else's fault except his and his mini me!
Leicester Hunter
I haven't seen the article but I can guess what was in it - it was everybody else's fault except his and his mini me! Basically, yes. He says he thinks he's "the best promoter Birmingham has ever had" along with his son. He says they should have been allowed more time and a little more support. Really? He spent the best part of eighteen months slagging off the very people who were putting money in his pocket, to the extent some no longer went. He resorted to name calling those who dared express an opinion. He indulged in character assassination on people who clearly knew more about the sport than him. And he's the best promoter Birmingham Speedway has ever had? That really is beyond satire. The saving grace is, someone may still be interested in taking the club forward, and one would hope, in a more positive way. By what we've already seen on this thread, Tony Mole isn't everyone's cup of tea, but at least his heart is in the right place with the club. And he hasn't trampled on what previous promoters such as Joe Thurley, John Berry, Les Marshall, Dan McCormick and others achieved in previous years. All I can say in conclusion is "Onwards and upwards. Things can only get better from hereon in." Wolfsbane
Double page spread with Adamant Alan Phillips in todays Star It's really does read 'It ain't my fault, everybody else is to blame'. 2 things stuck out for me. # He says 'We have been castigated, libelled and slandered. It's frustrating that we've had no right of response. We have never been afforded the right of response'. You have mate, it's called the British Speedway Forum. You chose not to. Like most other members of the BSPA you haven't come to terms with the openness that the internet has bought. The only reason you haven't responded on the BSF is you just want to state your case in print without contrary comment, thereby actually denying the Brummies fans the right of response. # Is it really £5 a pint at Perry Barr as he claims? If it is, Christ Almighty.
Brummie Kev
Just read the article and for me Peter Oakes sums it up perfectly in the closing part by describing it as an "extraordinary interview". I find it unbelievable that he more or less portrayed himself as the victim in all of this. He should have said sorry for what has happened, we dont have a club to support at the minute yet all he did in that interview was blame everyone but himself. The bit that made me laugh was him saying "its all about sponsorship and its never been as good as it was. On the Brummies forum a number of sponsors that sponsored the club in the past said they dont sponsor the club anymore. They also said the club made no contact with them about renewing their sponsorship, which is disappointing considering how much we rely on sponsorship. Look at the programme also, before this year when were there ever empty heat sponsorships at Brum ( 3/4 this year!!). Also the website to me looked bare compared to recent years and it was only late when we knew Selco were continuing. So I don't believe him one bit, the club in the past has had excellent sponsorship when Joe Mc was here. He seemed also to blame the GRA for people not attending, talking about £5 a pint for warm beer and a scanty burger. Yet no mention of the real reason many didn't attend. The fact he alienated fans by having a go at them in the Mail, found strange logic to attack the very people you want to come back. The interview was all about saving face, placing the blame at someone elses door. The sad fact of it all is we all have lost out, the club folded and he wont say sorry to the fans. Instead he says hes "the best promoter Birmingham has ever had" Edited July 24, 2014 by Brummie Kev

Brummie Kev
Also from what I can see on twitter, a small number of Brummies fans protested outside his offices ( in Solihull?) today. https://twitter.com/brummiespeedway/status/492265857402535936 and He called the Police https://twitter.com/brummiespeedway/status/492320602511114241 Edited July 24, 2014 by Brummie Kev
New Science
I listened to this program today and Alan Phillips tried to portray himself as the victim and the knight in shinning armour just waiting to step in and heroically save the Brummies. Its amazing how all this money has amazingly materialised just as the Brummies have been removed from the league and their results expunged. This guy is a charlatan, only 2 weeks ago he told us there was no debt, now there is debt (he says £45,000,Tony Mole says it is more,I know who I believe). When asked if he had the money to pay it off he said "yes" then backtracked to say almost. If Alan Phillips wanted so much to save the Brummies why did he not do it last week when there was hope rather than after the club was liquidated and past the point of return.Blaming the BSPA is just a public relations exercise to hopefully paint himself as the good guy rather than the villain,he should be thanking the BSPA,they were paying the riders last week while Phillips was sitting on his hands.I don't believe for one minute Phillips has the cash or any intention to see the continuation of speedway at Birmingham he just wants to save face !My sympathies are with the supporters !They say its hope that kills you !Said this at the time and I haven't seen anything today to change my mind !
semion
I read it has a pint and burger for a fiver. It says in the article that Administrators have been appointed. I guess whoever is likely to take over will be trying to do a deal to buy whatever assets are not subject to any form of retention of title. Agrotron
Every time I see a picture of that man I want to throttle him, keep fighting brummies as a Speedway fan I can completely feel your pain now I am not afraid to admit I cried the day my old club Bradford shut down its not nice at all. I hope Birmingham continue in Speedway in some capacity and can find some real die hard person or consortium to take over the helms.

Nigel
If it is the case that the administrators have been bought in to liquidate the club. There is a question mark over who will own the track? I am of course aware of who owns the ground the track is laid upon but the actual materials laid to create the race track are I believe the property of Alan Phillips company Birmingham Brummies Ltd. So who will end up with the ownership of said track?
