Witches V Rye Pl 26/6/14

Recommended Posts

It better not rain or everyone will forget that the Witches exist in Ipswich. Another blank week next week! Who said Speedway is a summer sport?

Seems an age since the last meeting and there hasn't been much to keep the spirits up from the away tour in the last week.

The Rockets come to Foxhall looking to put up a good fight (how much does it cost to hire a riot shield these days?) but the Witches should be good for a big win. (By about 20 - wink)

That's a bit Ageist and sexist my friend! But must be a newcomer as I don't think I've seen any females under 50 at Foxhall before! Lol (wink)

and even some of the under 50 males go on like an old woman (sparkle!)

Team manager Chris Louis has warned his under-performing Witches to buck their ideas up following their Northern nightmare at the weekend.

After defeats at Scunthorpe, Workington and Glasgow, Louis pulled no punches over his teams performance and admitted they were in a precarious position as they chase an end-of-season play-off spot.

In a revealing interview, Louis bemoaned his teams inability to adapt to difficult conditions at Scunthorpe before citing a lack of preparation ahead of the Glasgow defeat.

It is hugely frustrating for me, more than I could have ever imagined, insisted Louis who wont be looking to make team changes.

I wouldnt say I am happy with what I have got and its fair to say that several of the boys need to buck up their ideas.

Our play-off position is precarious, given the positions of other teams and their fixtures in hand, and although we are not at that stage where we will be putting loads of pressure on ourselves, we do have to perform.

The Witches, who host Rye House on Thursday, began the weekend with a heavy 55-38 defeat at Scunthorpe, before throwing away an eight-point lead with four heats left to lose 47-43 at Workington.

On Sunday, Glasgow inflicted more misery on the Witches, 53-40 and left Louis to deliver a stark assessment of his teams failings, starting with the defeat to Workington.

With four heats to go they (Workington) took a long break for a track grading and that knocked us out of our rhythm, they did the perfect job on us, added Louis.

At Scunthorpe, they prepared a very hard, slick track and the first half of the meeting which we lost by 19, with two tactical rides, was a reflection of how poor we were.

The lads probably did not adjust to the track conditions for the opening eight races but they are good enough and should be very focused and able to adapt to tough conditions.

Sundays defeat was a case of one too many meetings and lots of miles took their toll.

I dont think the team, individually, were prepared well enough for varying reasons, although I dont want to take anything away from Glasgow.

Meanwhile, Louis is confident Adam Ellis will be fit for Thursday, after the youngster suffered a heavy fall in the defeat at Glasgow and was withdrawn from the meeting.

Nothing like a home meeting against the underperforming Rockets to get your confidence back. Unfortunately gonna miss this due to a double booking

Well lets hope we have a meeting what ever happened to Louis promise of more meetings nearly every week if we went premier league??? There seems no difference and in between the last home meeting and this Thursdays the Witches have done awful, so expect that will reflect on the attendance.

We are so inconsistent its unbelievable and our chances of even finishing in the top 6 have taken a hammering.

Will Adam Ellis be fit for Thursday otherwise be another no scorer at reserve. Us fans need a big lift so lets hope we put one over Len Silvers Rockets.

So I spose your gonna watch your real favourite team up at Sheffield ??? Gotta keep the woman happy, especially when she's in a delicate condition. She could really damage herself whilst beating you up )))

See you Saturday, Chris MacCharalambous :t:

I'm not letting her drive all the way to Sheffield and back alone. It's with a heavy heart that I do this, but my lady and unborn child must come first

The baby will be born in or around Hoddesdon presumably, therefore born and bred Rockets fan.

So its 2 to 1 Rockets at Ipswich.

I'm sure there is a train station at Sheffield ;)

See how brave I am when I'm miles away, By the way I think I may be washing my hair on Saturday night :D I'm not brave enough to face Sarah when I'm sober lol

My unborn child already has a Bandits hoodie waiting for them.. Ask Chris on that one.. I've told him I'm a big enough girl to do that drive on my own but it was his decision.. :D

And anyways.. All being well with me, I should be back to work on Saturday.. So you're safe for a week :P

Now call me cynical, but from the clubs point of view, there is no financial advantage if we finished first or sixth. So having few riders underperform now and then can only be good for the club profit surely? If keep beating teams home and away, that must cost the club far more money. And if it's your higher paid riders having off days, then surely that's even better.

If by a miracle the Rockets manage a win I won't be responsible for my actions
