Cradley V Scunthorpe Nl 24/6/14

Recommended Posts

I guess the big question on this one has to be who will score more on the night Cradley or Costa Rica?

I have said enough elsewhere about how Scunny have put their side together this year but, as race day approaches, I hope some of their lads can take something positive from the night and pick the odd point up.

The way Cradley are riding though a clean sweep could be on the cards.

Perhaps Montie and Lucifer Sam should put a pound on an away win (and if it comes off remember who suggested it!).

I just hope The Scunny kids enjoy the atmosphere, take in the experience and above all stay safe, and remember Monmore isnt a throttle open and blast round, its more of a thinkers Track, just be a little careful how wide you come out of turn 2. Im sure after everything thats been said the supporters will appreciate the young lads efforts.

If Steve Jones had been riding, we'd have smashed you guys, but I think you might nick it now.

All the best

Rob

Didn't realise Steve would be missing.

I'll get there early in case you need a guest!

I would have an assessed 3 point average so you should be able to squeeze me in.

Stags said they will opperate a number 8 in Jack Hall who will take all the R/R riders for their missing number 1!

Im really looking forward to tonights meetings, the Stags match is one sided but there is nothing that can be done! Im looking forward to see what they have to offer and see how well they progress through the sport which is what this league is all about!

An interesting meeting for us Scunny fans who support our youngsters. Four of Scunny's ex N/L riders v our Newbie rookies. ...Well done Stags "You didn't get white washed and you got to race at another new track! "....I'm not being sarcastic as I was supporting all those 4 ex riders when they started off in league racing. Sad but if this is how it has to be done, so be it!

Has to be Matt Williamson.

5 if you want to include Matt--who pretty much started out at Scunny and is an assett

18 points, half impressed really just one less point than Buxton and 8 less that uncle Lens Kent Superstars/National League Journey Men--an no tac rides!!

No doubt Ommer Mon thinks Buxton and a The Kings should be in the MDL too!

Sorry to confuse you folks! When I posted it was with interest in the 4 riders with Scunny ties at N /L level. For years Ive watched youngsters throughout the winters in the practices and AM meetings. Having seen them take tumbles, low scores, high scores I still find it interesting to watch them progress. There are so many of them thats passed through Scunny. Yes it was Matt who I included in the 4 riders. Incidently he's becoming a decent P/L reserve now , had a very good meeting last week. The ref robbed him of some points though!..bad decission to exclude Matt.

Really? Thought it was is first season last year thou in speedway. Buxton gave him is first chance didn't they.

Buxton gave him his first NL chance (he couldn't ride for Scunny because we weren't in the NL last year, although he did ride in several NL challenge matches at Scunny).

But he'd rode in Amateur Meetings at Scunny prior to that.

All the best

Rob

In answer to Montie - no I don't think that Buxton and Kent belong in the MDL. They are bringing the kids through in a far more sensible way by providing them with role models on the track who they can ride with and learn from.

What did throwing seven 3 point riders into the meeting actually achieve in terms of their own development? Yes they have ridden a new track but in terms of racing and competition, apart from Arron, there was not a great deal. Trailing round half a lap behind is not going to do a great deal for their confidence I wouldn't have thought. I appreciate that last night was an extreme example but they have struggled consistently at this level.

Best of luck to them all though. I could not fault the effort that they put in and when they came off they were very quick to get the bike off the track. It served as a reminder of just how difficult it is to throw a Speedway bike round a track.

I thought the Cradley fans were superb in applauding them at every opportunity and it was good of Richard Hollingworth to recognise that in his comments..............and before Montie asks the question - yes I was one of the ones applauding them.

I still believe that the NL needs to learn from this and introduce a minimum points limit. This would only have to be high enough to ensure that a couple of experienced riders would be included in a team to ensure that the kids get the necessary role models where it matters most and that is on the track in a race.
