Plymouth V Somerset Saturday 21st June

Recommended Posts

There was a healthy crowd there last night and a fair few somerset fans. It was an entertaining meeting until the unfortunate incident with Robson, which was a horrific looking crash. Best wishes to him for a speedy recovery. It was very distasteful of a few plymouth fans near us to cheer when he went down. No place in the sport for people like that!!

This comes up at least once a month . Unfortunately there isn't a moron detector at the turnstiles , and some slip into meetings . It's a very , very small minority that indulge in this kind of behaviour , best just to ignore them - every track has them

Have to say am a bit suprised nothing on the Somerset site about Robbo, he has guested a few times for the Rebels I would have the the least they could do was let supporters know the extent of his injuries. !!!

Hell, not even his own club have told us supporters anything. Believe me when I say that there will be true fans who do not use social media who will turn up tonight blissfully unaware of last nights crash.

Overheard certain members of the win at all costs members of the Somerset promotion and management were more concerned about wasting time so the meeting wouldn't be completed due to the curfew than whether robbo was actually injured shame on you!!!! Another thing who are they going drop to bring in Oliver berntzon from Sweden morris or Allen the hatchet is about to swing?

What an absolute load of trash..... At least 1 memeber of the somerset promotion never left the unfortunate Robos side at all while he was sadly led on the track... So how that becomes shamefull is beyond me..... More to the point any true supporter who loves to watch this sport for all the right reasons, and does not like to see any rider from any team left led out on the track injured..... Every precations should quite rightly be taken when removing him from the track.. If sadly a curfew comes into play then so be it..... Im quite sure every team over the seasons have sadly lost out because of this, and at the time feel hard done by, but it is behond nearly every clubs control..

And as for trying to start rumours about who Somerset are about to hatchet is so laughable, as i would be more than cocerned about getting your own house in order before starting on others.... Like i say Shamefull on you.... At least all the Somerset riders want to ride for Somerset :t:

So if Newcastle had of plastered what had had happened to Robbo all over how would the true fans of found out if they don't use social media??

No bad taste here 'Devildodger' - Have you seen Proctor's scores for Sheffield? Poor would be a understatement...

I'm just glàd he didnt come back to us, to be honest, I with the Plymouth management would be more cut throat like Somerset are.

And they all lived happily ever after at Somerset, a model for all clubs to follow. Edited by Devildodger

Explain in greater detail please as to how this cheque book speedway works and which riders are we talking about?

This is a genuine request as I would like to know, thanks.

The reason riders want to ride for the rebels is because they pay the most its not rocket science and as soon as a better option is available they are sacked no loyalty or scruples win at any cost!

I don't think they do pay the most in the league. I think they operate within a sensible budget and riders like the track and set up.

Possibly mate the track is a massive home advantage although pretty boring to watch most of the time imo,a sensible budget for them yes just bigger than most teams sensible budgets i would say

What's wrong with that? There will always be richer and poorer teams in any sport, look at the football Premier League and ask yourself how many of those teams have a realistic chance of winning the league.

As for home advantage, I'd say its one of the fairest tracks in the league. Any rider should be able to ride it, just depends how big your ball$ are if you have to grab the big handful round the outside :)

th

Thank you for that Lewy.

Just a couple of questions for you. Is the reason the rebels pay more money to the riders is that they can. When the Rebels first started the track was just about all that was there,it is doubtful that they were paying "top money" then.Over the years the club has grown has a healthy fan base,an excellent clubhouse and a track the majority of riders enjoy. If I was a rider and an employer offered me good money and work on a track I liked I think I'd take his hand off.The only clause for me as a rider ( not unreasonable) is that I perform to the required standard or else I maybe replaced.I'm not sure loyalty comes onto it tbh because the rider is quite happy to take the money while it is there surely. At the end of the day this is a sport and you sink or swim by results, start performing badly and you will inevitably lose a bit of your support, most of the clubs that are not performing well at the moment are the ones that are not or haven't got the money.

You are right it isn't rocket science after all.

I prefer to watch speedway that requires skill and throttle control not big balls and blasting around the outside whatever floats your boat!
