jeffster
I assume that the deal that EUROSPORT have done for televising this does NOT include any sound from the track. Once again crap sound mix. Just a boring monotone droll from this new fella broken up only by stupid mispronounced comments by Sam. The same deal as Premier Sports - They take what is known as a "clean feed" i.e. just the pictures without commentary (Which would obviously be in Swedish anyway), and then overlay their own commentary in a UK based studio

pugwash
The same deal as Premier Sports - They take what is known as a "clean feed" i.e. just the pictures without commentary (Which would obviously be in Swedish anyway), and then overlay their own commentary in a UK based studio I'm aware of that but there's hardly any sound from the stadium. and no atmosphere getting thro'. The bikes just sound like a wasp stuck behind my curtains. Turn up the live background noise and turn down the canned commentary volume. I believe it's called mix. At least for this season C more are giving us more than the static camera for what seemed an eternity-views of the pits and rider interviews. Agreed but they do need to sort out the sound mix. I have an answer for you Captain-as you don`t want to listen to the commentary, why not record the next time you go to a meeting the bike sounds and play that over and over again during the broadcast

Blazeaway
Just watching this back and Dave Rowe is superb. Animated when necessary, knowledgable and no woooaaaahhhhhhs, modderbykes or get out of the ways. Makes Pearson look even worse. Just needs someone without a head injury alongside him. I assume that the deal that EUROSPORT have done for televising this does NOT include any sound from the track. Once again crap sound mix. TwoMinuteWarning
Gets a bit sad when people say they enjoy laughing at a commentator, it does the sport no favours. David Rowe is knowledgeable, seems to have all the stats to hand, just one suggestion - in my opinion you talk a bit fast David, could do with slowing down a tad. Otherwise, fine. Now we just need Chris Louis to replace Uncle Sam ...

David Rowe is knowledgeable, seems to have all the stats to hand, just one suggestion - in my opinion you talk a bit fast David, could do with slowing down a tad. Otherwise, fine. Now we just need Chris Louis to replace Uncle Sam ... But Jack had tons of stats at hand regarding riders and such so was he knowledgeable? He had been a speedway fan in the 70s as he said that on his last broadcast. Dave shouts a bit but that seems to be OK but not Nigel when he gets a bit excited. We all have our faves here. I like Nige and Kel who are both knowledgeable about the sport and get excited which I enjoy. Dave was good too and I was fine with his fast talking as he was getting in to it. People laughed at Tony Millard for years and had threads here doing exactly that, so was that OK but not laughing at Jack. It seems very confusing this having a go at commentators lark. Maybe it's just that some people don't like certain people and build up their foibles into some big deal but don't do that when they are talking about someone they like doing pretty much the same. Double standards? Not really it's just human nature. Funny old game speedway
racers and royals
My spies tell me that Jack is back for one last "speedway swansong" in Sunday`s SEC 1st round live from Gustrow Germany. So the Jack and Sam show is back on the road(not to Gustrow obviously)
pandorum
Well Dave was lamentable last night which goes to show the most professional commentating team in speedway is Nige and Kel who at least are able to read.

Sorry Pandorum but Dave was no way lamentable-he made 1 mistake, that was all-don`t forget Nige and Kelv have been doing it for years.I think apart from the odd GP world feed this is the first live TV work Dave has done-he is coping superbly in my opinion- It cannot be easy with a producer continually instructing him through an earpiece to pause for the compiling of highlights, and countdowns to ad breaks, cueing in interviews etc.

That was Mistake 1. Mistake 2 was pronouncing Loktaevs name wrong for the entire meeting. A pair of clowns that night in my book. Did better this Tuesday as did the clown they pair him with. The abuse Nige and Kel gets here is quite disgraceful. They both have a huge speedway knowledge and Kel knows what being world champion is like albeit the longer track one. His technical knowledge comes across well when he gets the chance to use it. Rowe and Sam both shout the same as they do but at least Kel can string a sentence together when he interjects. Dave is in no way better than Nigel but he is better than Jack but then a gibbering idiot is better than Jack. He is decent and that is pretty good for speedway. As you say -he is decent-so therefore can`t be lamentable-How do you know he was pronouncing Loktaevs name wrong,he could be right. I certainly have not said he is better than Nigel-however they both know their speedway and in my opinion Dave is doing a really good job for Eurosport-Dave and Sam are back on duty Sunday for the Euro`s. I never said you did! Of course he was being lamentable that night. He was a prize pillock sitting next to an imbecile. But he is decent overall considering the low standards of speedway commentators across the decades. How do I know he was saying Loktaevs' name wrong. Exhibit A he spells it Loktaev on his own leathers so I presume he knows his own name. Exhibit B The Polish commentators call him that and I would presume they have more idea of the pronunciation than the Danish ones.
SCB
TBF if you're basing good commentators on how they do or don't say riders names, Nige and Kelvin are poor but they tend to Anglicise the name and say them as we do. Also, as his name is a translation from Russian, the spelling doesnt mean a huge amount
waiheke1
I remember a few years back in nz, one of the kiwi cricketers (adam parore) was accused of pronouncing his OWN surname incorrectly!
