OveFundinFan
I agree that Jack B is a very good presenter for the Moto GP's as for speedway.... well it was obvious he was new to it and his comments sometimes were "funny", both peculiar and laughable. But his ignorance was'nt too bad a thing, for example, when there was a false start he was'nt too sure whether the rider was to be excluded or not.... so it went over to Sam for clarification. Any newbies to speedway would be learning along with Jack B. So positive in that sense, but I can see it would frustrate "those in the know"

Eurosport has given Speedway such an opportunity to exposure to all kinds of bike fans, and as such a commentator is needed who is not preaching to the converted so to speak. For what its worth, I felt Jack was doing that well and was passing on information that the casual viewer would find interesting, and informative. The trouble is that most of us who have been followers for any period of time will already know that information so we see it as a negative. As many on here have already alluded to, Eurosport have undoubtedly removed the wrong one of the commentating pair........

Sadly with Sams blithering it just sounded like a pair of clueless people - if highly amusing at times. David Rowe is a good choice though, a knowledgeable speedway man - sadly we still have Sam, the man most of us would have sacked if we had to get rid of just one of them. Phil
I think rusky and SCB have got it spot on. Jack is a well established and respected commenter. He is great on Superbike commentary. He tends to be a talker rather than just commentating the actual race on who is in the lead. Any motorbike fan tuning in will recognise it jack! and watch a bit more. Just a shame the speedway racing is not up to much.
Mark
yet another pointless thread about a commentator being poor. Just press the mute button as not everyone can please everyone all the time.
oldtimer
Jack may have been an experienced commentator, however, he got the riders gate positions wrong, the helmet colours wrong, who was leading the race and even who was in the race wrong, he got riders nationality's wrong. I assume he had a programme in front of him so all he had to do was glance at that and remember 4 riders helmet colours for 1 minute, the fact he could not do that is very worrying, I'm sure he is a decent bloke but that short and confused memory span needs looking at by a doctor for his own wellbeing.

So positive in that sense, but I can see it would frustrate "those in the know" How could he be new to it when he said he followed it in the North East in the 70s and was a mate of Tom Leadbitter who as far as I remember was actually a speedway rider and a damn good one. He (Jack not Tom) was a first class idiot and having to turn to Sudden Sam for advice when Sam cannot even remember what his old team mates are called was pretty desperate. Comedic wise they were hilarious and we will miss that pairing but they make the sport look amateurish which it is compared to most but there is no need for Eurosport to rub it in Dave Goddard is a bit dull so I am glad he is not returning to Swedish speedway and look forward to what the new guy makes of the Sweep (Sam) to his Sooty. rob tatum
What a shame I will really miss JACK"he's turning left sorry there all turning left "Burnicle ,ok he made mistakes but he made up for that with enthusiasm & a fair bit of humour. As for ermolenko well he was a great rider but as a pundit he is on a par with havelock both bloody hopeless , my teenage stepson makes more sense than those two & he only says dunno ,whatever or can't be bothered

To be fair to Jack, he would call the rider's, helmet colours etc correct then get shot down by the expert Sudden Sam and his bloody CandySoft garbage only to realise he was right in the first place after reading the information that appeared on the televised screen. He just lost his train of thought as he had no idea what Sam was talking about. I've been around Speedway for years and he confuses me, let alone someone that doesn't have a scooby

Star Lady
Well impressed with David Rowe, just a shame he allows Ermolenko to get a word in Hopefully Eurosport will realise that the bumbling mispronouncing clown lets their whole programme down and replace him very speedily. They do seem to take note of what fans say
Dornier
Got to admit David Rowe was a lot better than Jack. He`s more proficient at commentating and he even made Sam sound better. thought Sam was acceptable tonight...

Ermolenko called him Dubrovki, Bronoski, brovski amongst others tonight, he just need Debussy and Bronski Beat and would have covered everything. Kylmakorpi was Oldkorpi and NKI was Oldneilsen. There were others but I tune it out as much as possible. If you cannot even get the riders name correct (ish) you really are in the wrong job.
gary moore
Real shame. Jack was a brilliant part of the programme. What the hell did it matter if he made a few mistakes - if those whingeing about it knew better then what did it matter. One more bit of fun and entertainment lost to Speedway. Still, the "everyone ought to know every last detail about Speedway" types will no doubt be pleased. Speedway theme tune should be "Down, Down, Deeper and Down". A guy like Jack made the whole thing more enjoyable for the fringe fans and newcomers who Speedway desperately needs to convert into regulars. Go ahead, slag me off. I have had 50+ years of trying to convert people to Speedway. Too often the response has been it is boring. One more win for the anoraks. One more nail in Speedway's coffin. Totally agree ww,Rowe (whoever he is?) drove me bonkers, does he EVER take a breathe? Ruined it for me,another Pearson who thinks that fifty word a second makes it more exciting? Sam`s commentery has gone back to `Yank` mode with Rowe.GET RID!! Edited June 24, 2014 by gary moore
pugwash
I assume that the deal that EUROSPORT have done for televising this does NOT include any sound from the track. Once again crap sound mix. Just a boring monotone droll from this new fella broken up only by stupid mispronounced comments by Sam.
pandorum
The new bloke wasn't bad but did shout a bit. Sam started well but got excited and was inventing names right left and centre. McKorpie was my fave. He managed not to make a mess of Protasiewicz by calling him Pepe all night which by Sam standards was a stroke of genius. All he needs now are nicknames for all the funny sounding foreigners and he is quids in. Overall a huge improvement but I was disappointed not finding out how old some of the riders were Edited June 25, 2014 by pandorum
