Noodles
A great start, David Rowe did a a good job on speedway.tv last year. 1 down, 1 to go.

pandorum
Gotta agree with BWitcher we will miss Jack's insanity but we still have Sam so how long Dave will last before he goes insane listening to Sam's dribblings will be interesting to see. And how are we going to find out how old the riders are now?

Good luck to David Rowe.

Wessex Wanderer
Real shame. Jack was a brilliant part of the programme. What the hell did it matter if he made a few mistakes - if those whingeing about it knew better then what did it matter. One more bit of fun and entertainment lost to Speedway. Still, the "everyone ought to know every last detail about Speedway" types will no doubt be pleased. Speedway theme tune should be "Down, Down, Deeper and Down". A guy like Jack made the whole thing more enjoyable for the fringe fans and newcomers who Speedway desperately needs to convert into regulars. Go ahead, slag me off. I have had 50+ years of trying to convert people to Speedway. Too often the response has been it is boring. One more win for the anoraks. One more nail in Speedway's coffin.

daveallan81
When the commentator loses track of what he's commentating on because he's watching wee lassies doing handstands at the bottom of his screen he is clearly not fit for purpose.

I have to agree his enthusiasm and admittance that he didn't know everything was a refreshing change. Sadly for him he was saddle with a side kick who if he knew the answer flatly ignored the question and rambled on about something else, so no-one learnt anything. Jack did at least, at the beginning anyway, get the pronunciation of names correct. Like WW I think Jack was just the kind of presenter who would appeal to newbies to the sport, they could learn along with him. For that to happen tho he needed the assistance of someone with the ability to impart knowledge - Tatum, Norris, Louis, Nicholls, Havelock (ignoring the accent ) even Rosco. Sadly Eurosport seem to have solved the wrong part of the problem.

The only thing that newbies would have learned is that the commentary rarely had anything to do with what they were seeing on screen!! Newbies won't have seen/heard it as funny because they wouldn't know the difference!! They would just see how wrong the commentary had been when the captions came up on screen!! Why would anyone slag you off for an opinion? Oh I forget this is the BSF Seriously though that was half the fun having a good whinge at Jack's buffoonery. He and Sam were comedy gold and the best thing about the last meeting they did together. WE will miss Him
Dave Goddard
So according to this thread, you would rather have someone who is cr*p at their job so you can laugh at them and slag them off? As for me I am not passing further comment...

To be honest, I turned the last match off cos it was carp. I've learnt to filter out the commentary now so really am no expert on his latest efforts but going back to his first couple of shows JB was refreshing and new and I thought asked question that newbies would ask. Maybe he just got cheesed off with his questions being ignored and thought "why the hell should I bother?" I really am completely flummoxed as to why JB has been replaced and the bumbling buffoon is still there

As for me I am not passing further comment... Crap at his job is harsh, he's very good when it comes to motorcycle racing and very new to modern speedway. It takes an age to understand our sport. I got use to Jack and I'm disappointed he's gone, not just laugh at him. IMO the biggest issue as to why Jack Burnacle has been getting ripped to shreds is the fact that the speedway itself has been absolutely garbage. After being told that the Swedish Elitserien knocks spots off the British Elite League, well I'm still waiting to see it because so far it's about the same.
Dave Goddard
That was not aimed at him directly, I meant that people on here would rather see anyone who isn't any good at it just so they have someone to ridicule.

I fully understood what you meant and my post wasn't meant to suggest that so apologise but I was just adding to why I think he was getting bashed. IMO it's down to the quality of the racing. When is good you don't really hear the commentators. Have you ever viewed a 'Nigel Pearson - Kelvin Tatum' thread? To be honest, it doesn't matter who does the comms they're gonna get battered by the anoraks. You did the Premier Sports comms?!?! on the Swedish Elitserien last season (I think) and some wasn't to pleasant towards that comms either. Some just can't get by in life unless there's something to complain about.

As far as I can remember there weren`t any negative comments towards Dave`s commentary at all-and there won`t be any towards Dave Rowe as well-why ? because they both know their speedway inside out and are both professional in what they do.
