Workington 'pl Select' Comets Vs Ipswich Witches - Pl - Sat 21st Jun

Recommended Posts

A satisfactory return for Josh last night but I'm not expecting the 10/12/15pt scores from him against Ipswich, if we are to get enough together to win the 3pts it's going to have to be a proper team effort with everyone chipping in!! :t:

Good weather forecast so looking forward to a decent meeting, certain that Ipswich will come to do battle against the cobbled together Comets with a view to getting something, but quiet confidence from me suggests a win by 8pts!! :D

Seen a post on FB where if last weeks meeting had been called off after heat 10 and a result reached there would have been no discount this week??.... So if you miss a third of the meeting you pay to see you arnt recompensed.... Clubs have got fans over a barrell and it's little wonder speedway is dying on its arse!!

Well another classic example of the Witches snatching another defeat from the jaws of victory by the sounds of it . Did all the hard work to get a lead and blew it !

agree with you here we were all worried and really coudlnt see a home win but the lads pulled in back in good style

we were lucky again and we owe a lot to our guest and new reserve signing

A point gained but what a disappointing finish to the meeting, 8 points up with 4 races to go and lose by 4 is just not good enough.

Wow what a meeting , not sure how to put it but Ipswich deserved a point but we deserved all 3 after that comeback after Rene's crash !!!! Don't be too hard on your guys they did really well. Thank god Rene,s injury wasn't as bad as his crash , a great effort from our guests again Tommy Jorgensen was fantastic and Taylor 100% effort, and take a bow Simon Lambert , well done young man .

Only thing I didn't like was when Rene was down and the ambulance was out attending to him , Worrrall and heeps decided to start digging out the gates , now I would hope that our boys wouldn't come out and do that on other tracks, bit disrespectful towards the other rider , and then Worrall puts his two fingers up to the crowd, but karma perceived yet again ;) , haha

A great result without a full Comets team

Well done guys

Tremendous effort from a patched up side just to get the win never mind any pts, that was not even on the agenda with four races to go against an Ipswich side who rode particularly well to stay in the contest with a solid/grafting performance?

But for the same riders to then collapse an 8pt lead into a four point loss says more for the determination of the Comets than any failings of the Witches, just outgated and out fought by a team that simply wanted this win more!!

Quite agree that Ipswich deserved something for the effort they put in, it would have been an injustice to see them go away empty handed as they have provided one of the better opponents I've seen this season so fair play to them for that. :t:

Great performance from Josh, fine back up from Rene and Thomas, Lambo, what a transformation, where did that performance come from  some fantastic rides to keep us in this, Taylor battled hard for little reward while Mason, looking a bit better tonight, is definitely missing the spark from the early doors paid max he banged in, really needs to up his game a bit I think, we're missing that scoring!!

Consistent scores from the Witches throughout the team with only Ellis and Manzares missing out but still showing signs of ability nonetheless, as for the other's, Worrall not quite as free scoring as he used to be round here but still good enough, Tungate rode well but never looked better than second all night, Risager had one of his better meetings here while Heeps looked capable if not spectacular, Hawkins set off like a house on fire and is scoring very well at the moment, but he fell away a bit in his last two rides having given the impression of being the ace in the hole for late switches of rider?

All in all, a very good meeting spoiled a little by the excessive dust late on, too much grading not enough watering, it was like being back in the seventies, :o aah yes, the good old days!! :D

Wow what a meeting...the Comets were staring at a big defeat and going into the last few heats 8pts down things were looking dire but what a comeback!!

A big well done to all the Comets and guests, who would have thought Lambo and Jorgensen would get two 5-1s in the last few heats and then a massive 5-1 in heat 15 from Josh and Rene. :approve:

I did think Rene would be out of the match when he had a big crash but he got back on the bike after some medical attention and gave it a go....then fell again in ht 13!! when trying for 2nd place.

Ipswich were good value in the first two thirds of the match but fell away in the last few heats when they should really have put the meeting to bed but full credit to Worky for a great fighting display. :D

wasnt really sure what the grandstand crowd was getting upset about

in all fairness to ipswich they were well away from where rene was being looked over so not a issue in my opinion

i have more of a issue when theres more track staff leaning over than medical staff

were all concerned when a rider from any team goes down but leave it to the medical staff and give them room to work

Well I would have been happy with a point before knowing the result, but we really must stop throwing away leads like that, so many times do we grab a defeat from the jaws of victory. Good job Our demise didn't start one race earlier or we would have had nothing. So i guess a point is better than nothing. Come on Louis, try to keep the lads fired up near the end of a meeting

an earlier pist mentioned it got very dry and dusty towards the end. Seems we didnt adapt to the changing conditions very well.

Ipwsich riders were not well away from Rene and what was going at all so a big issue in my opinion !!! The ambulance on track to attend a rider and you have the opposing team digging up the starts gates right beside it, disrespectful . :nono:

depends how far away you think is acceptable

there was plenty of others closer who were not medical staff thats the part in which made me think they were far enough away to not be a distraction

and what about the people standing infront of the pit gate blocking the ambulance coming out even after the ambulance sounded its horn they were slow at mooving and they wernt ipswich riders

I'm not meaning they were too near the incident and blocking what was going on, I was meaning just being disrespectful , carrying on with the gate digging for their next race, while another rider is being seeing too after a horrific looking crash, beside them. Had you been sat in the Grandstand where we were you would have seen Worrall stick his two fingers at the fans and even laura getting them moved away from the start line not happy with them
