Sheffield V Edinburgh (lc-2nd Leg Sf) 19/6/14 @7.45pm

First Race yesterday was around 7.55 so their concern for the kids wasn't apparent then. My view would be to keep to 8.45 and speed up the proicess a bit.

The current start time of 7:45 is fine, providing by start they mean tapes up at 7:45. Get the parade and general garbage out of the way and get the 2 minute siren on at 7:43. There is no reason why a meeting cannot be run with a race taking place on average every 5 mins, even allowing for a 15 minute interval that would still have the meeting over with by 9:15.

The simple fact is that currently Sheffield take far to long to run their meetings as the gaps in-between races are massive and for no apparent reason. Any excitement that could possibly have been caused by one good race has soon diminished before the next race as it is sometimes close to 10 minutes before they get the riders up to tapes again. The first thing I suggest is keep the bloody tractor off the track so regular, surely a grade after every 4 races is fine, afterall, think this season has proved that no one cares about the track preparation as there has hardly been a pass and Owlerton is now about as interesting as Brandon was in the 80's

Hopefully proctor gets a reduced average next month which should help us to make changes. If we can get poole at reserve I think the easier rides would help his confidence. We definitely need another big hitter because steady is fighting a one man battle at the top end in heat 13 and 15.It would be good if we could pick up a good young talent like some of the other teams seem to pick up,already been impressed with Rosen, thomsen, fricke and Jorgensen this season. They have shown some of our more experienced lads how to ride their home track.Last night we wernt hard enough and we gave away a few points.Cant see next week been much easier.

Eagerly awaiting Spin King's report on the meeting but for me, Sheffield need to make 5 team changes.

The only 2 worth keeping are Stead and Compton.

The first out of the door should be Proctor. Remind me how many meetings Roynon would have missed due to EL commitments?

Okay then for what it worth here we go.

I thought we started well, and up until heat 11 I did wonder what all the fuss was about the Edinburgh team and thought we would win the meeting.

The difference after heat 10 was we faded and Edinburgh stepped up a gear, and I have to admit that they are a bloody good team. You don't go on a unbeaten run like they have and not be a very good team.

Onto the Sheffield team, the one thing that has been lacking all season for the vast majority of the team (Stead and Compton apart) is consistency.

I do agree that Ty Proctor form is giving cause for concern, he has not put in one decent performance since he came to the club and only in the Glasgow fixture did he manage a race win.

I don't agree with dropping 5 of the 7 riders simply because I don't think that there is 5 riders out there that will make any significant difference to the team, if you can name me 5 then tell me who they are.

I have been told that Proctor's average will go down considerably in July and we will have some points to play around with, and I think that ie where I think that we could make a significant change, and we would possibly see the team much improved and lot more solid.

Then I think you are possibly looking at one of the lower end riders making way so probably looking at either Poole/Nielsen or Bates making way.

I cannot see any reason to drop Josh Bates, the lad has upped his average he is a young Brit and now an asset of the club.

I think that you are probably looking at either Poole or Nielsen going and my money would be the one Nielsen go, and that would mean giving Poole a reserve position

If we can get the right rider in on the right average we could be looking to shuffle the riding order around and take some the pressure of some of the under performing riders.

But although things have not gone so great this season, I think that we do need to put things in to perspective, yes we have tasted defeat 4 times this season, but only two teams have beaten us.

Scunthorpe have done us 3 times, but they have a team who it can be argued ride Sheffield better than their own track, and Edinburgh who are this season simply humping every team this season, and have gone a record breaking winning streak.

But I do think that we need to make a change, yes I think we do, but not until the July and lets see how far Ty Proctor average drops and then we could could make a significant change. .

looking at our home fixtures spinny we have lost 4 out of 7 which is bottom of the table form no matter who we have rode against, out of the wins we have had redcar was by 2 pts and Newcastle was 6 or 7, hardly dominant performances on our own track, the sad thing is we are running with only 1 heat leader and the sooner the management re-address this the better or crowds will start to dwindle im afraid, I agree that we don't need too many changes, I personally would only make 2 changes as soon as the july averages are known.

Don't get me wrong, I think that the Promotion need to make a change unless thinks don't improve, but the timing has to be bang on and the right riders have to be available.

If what I have been told is correct that Ty Proctors average reduces pretty drastically then that is when we need to look at replacement riders or rider.

The one thing that we do have going for us at the moment is that although we sit at the foot of the table we have until tomorrow only raced 4 league matches, the most of the league have raced either double that amount and three times that amount.

My guess is that the Promotion will make a change early July, and if they get the right rider/ riders in it could change our fortunes rapidly.

Agree with that.

Re Proctors average: I believe Ty needs one more PL home meeting and one PL away meeting to get his new average. His current average after 6 meetings (from Sheffield and Plymouth) is 6.15 so it's going to drop by a chunk unless he scores big at Brough Park, EOES and Owlerton against Rye House.
