Workington Vs Edinburgh 14th June 7pm (premier League)

Is he also the doc that said royno was mental and couldn't ride??....

Maybe worky are paying riders the money it would cost for 2 ambulances and docs?? :)

Was it a bad smash when Kyle got hurt then??

No it wasn't, his trailing leg got caught under the bike going into turn one, straightened him up going into bend two, just about managed to get off the track by the exit of said turn before collapsing on the ground, one of those whiplash type events that seriously hurt at the time!!

Terrific comeback by lazarus howarth, glad to see his injury has improved, with no lasting bother.

looks like the Cumbrian morphine is real GOOD stuff.

can I send my drugs clinic clientele down on saturday ???

OH, LOOK. KYLE WITHDREW AT TONIGHTS MEETING V PANTHERS. OLD ANKLE INJURY SUFFERED ON SATURDAY PLAYING UP. oops just seen capsl

This whole episode stinks of a fiddle!!!

When i broke my ankle i went to hospital in a car...not an ambulance!!

go on then , whats an old fiddle smell like.

the answer to your second line is,, when drugs are given to a person by the medical staff. they have to be accompanied in the AMBULANCE by the medical staff.the doctor assumes ALL responsabilty untill the patient in handed over to a/e. i once twisted my ankle and done ligaments. i also went to hospital in a car. the diff is , i was not on drugs. yuou obviously are..lol.

It has to be said that no chances should be taken on rider health and safety, no one can seriously argue that fact. Kyle was in agony on Saturday and all care should have been taken with him even if his injuries were not as bad as first thought. Best place for him was the hospital, so as soon as the county ambulance wasn't available the track ambulance should have gone.

It might not have been able to make it back in time but instead of giving it a chance they sat about and discussed it and decided to call it off. I state again if worky were 10 points up and there was no football on more effort would have been made to get it on, no one will dissuade me of that fact.

As someone who spent over 3 hours getting there, paid for a hotel and 3 hours getting home I don't think it was good enough. I have been to Derwent park 5 or 6 times now but I will think twice before going back.

I don't think the promoters had any option other than to call it off. No conspiracy theories, ulterior motives or hidden agenda's. It just wasn't possible given the delay getting an ambulance, the track ambulance and doctor having to leave the track, the handover time and then getting them back to the circuit. There just wasn't time. The promoters had no choice. I accept that. What I can't accept is that the situation should arise in the first place. It seems most clubs run with one ambulance and one doctor, which is the minimum the rule allows. The fact that it's never happened before at Workington shows that it can happen and it can happen anywhere. They are just one 'unfortunate incident' away from a call off. They're running meetings with their fingers crossed. In a sport at the mercy of the weather and every team suffering multiple rain offs, do we really need another reason to call a meeting off?

Medical cover is expensive and most clubs can't afford it. The reason they can't afford it is because there aren't enough bodies coming through the gates and that's because they've driven them all away and it's pretty much the diehards that are left. Customers are hard to find and easy to lose. The casual fans can watch Speedway on SKY, Sweden and the Grand Prix on Eurosport and Poland on the Internet. If there's a rain off, they change channels.

I've a bee in my bonnet because it's the second time in as many months I've spent a small fortune travelling to meetings that haven't happened and as someone suggested, I'm going to draw a line under it and move on, but don't expect to see us at Workington or Peterborough anytime soon.

floodlight failure, waterlogged track, electrical failure, medical cover and that health and safety issue

its part of speedway. you have just got to take it on the chin. i understand travelling fans getting the hump.. as me2 says its a lot of cash paid out not to see a full meeting.. . but seemingly the monarchs fans were quite happy to see 1 more race and call it a day. i was a very unfortunate set of circumstances tha workington speedway found them selves in on saturday.could happen next week, year or never again.we all know what cover there is at armadale. . just hope no one is put in the same position as workington were on saturday.. ..

I in recent times i think ive know three meetings called off on medical grounds,Rymell,Ashworth and Roynan, which were life threatening, but to call a meeting off, which was 1 or 2 heats away from a conclusion because of what seems a sprained ankle is taking the pish a bit

And lets be totally honest here,Edinburgh were in the box seat with Cook,Masters and Worrall all set to come out in the remaining heats, they had to be favourites to win this meeting

But back to the point, should the sport be in a position to call off meetings because of an ankle injury??? an injury which is quite common for anyone who races bikes!!

My 5year old broke his arm badly 4 weeks ago,did i need an ambulance??? no, it was a quick cup of tea and a trip to A and E in a car!!!

. just hope no one is put in the same position as workington were on saturday.. ..

You mean the position of just about to get beaten!!!!! quite alot of team have been in that situation when Edinburgh visit!!!

But it has happened before at Workigton before, ironically with the same rider Howarth vs Berwick.Meeting abandoned and ran at alater date.Like you say it puts you off travelling to meetings even when the weather is fine nowadays. Edited by Fromafar

heat 10 line up lawson, campton/fricke sneddon.. who is you money on for a win..

Lawson from the tapes after he gets away with another flier but straightens up across the first and second bend, thinking the Edinburgh skipper is coming round the outside of him. Unbeknown to Lawson, he's been replaced by Reserve of the year Stevie Worrall who cuts up the inside and flies off into the distance to equal the track record. Meanwhile at the back, there's an almighty battle going on between the two Aussies which later involves Lawson as he looks behind and thinks he wants a bit of entertainment... he covers his partner on the inside with - as is normal, both of his wheels over the white line exiting turn 2 just as Mad Max drives round the outside and clinches second to put the Monarchs up by 2...

Lawson then comes round to do a bit of gardening at the exit of turn 2 so that he can get a bit of drive off the rugby pitch for his impending Ht13 defeat of the British #2...

Sounds a though the fans missed out a good race, would the meeting then been abandoned because of the time curfew it would not have been possible to run ALL remaining heats.!!!!!!!!!!

The way Deeks going at the moment, he'd have been lucky to beat the curfew never mind another rider.
