Main Man Posted June 11, 2014 Report Share Posted June 11, 2014 Under the 2014 ruling regarding postponed meetings Castleford Kings have been awarded the two Midland Development League points after the late cancellation of their fixture at Coventry last Friday.The Kings had previously had a wasted journey when rain washed out the fixture on Bank Holiday Monday May 5th after the Bees clash with Lakeside. This call off though came after a delayed start to the Bees clash with Wolverhampton after the M6 was closed and other traffic problems in surrounding areas. With a storm due at midnight and with stock cars the following day with the fence having to come down and track prepared the Stadium decreed that the second half was to be cancelled. The Coventry promotion tried to request a curtailed four heat match from which a result could be called but this plea was rejected.Castleford have rightly requested the awarding of the league points with Mercia-Vikings team boss Laurence Rogers not opposing this , “ I fully understand what Peter Hibberd has requested and although it means less important track time for the youngsters I have agreed to concede the points. These boys do not get travel or points money and come from far and near at their own expense. It is not ideal but it is what is in the rules.”Dale Allitt , joint co-ordinator of the League commented , “ Castleford were within their rights enforcing this rule and based on the calculations of fuel used on both occasions I can fully understand their stance. So we have a development leaguer, where surely the key is development and not winning, awarding points to teams to save on fuel? Why not just award all meetings to save a bit of fuel? The league has to be run to BSPA rules,good Job as well , having travelled 100s of miles to MDL meetings only to have them cancelled because some superstar wants to waste the time up to curfew practising wheelies . or some upstart track staff dont fancy waiting 15 minutes while the match gets run . MDL lads ride for nothing , some have to take time off work to get to midweek matches and all have to pay there own travel , I wonder how many times you think Danny Phillips should travel from Middlesbrough a 400 mile round trip in order to fulfill a fixture that can be dropped without good reason , you wouldn't think it's so clever then when you had stuck your hand in your pocket to watch somebody p!ss your money away Edited June 12, 2014 by speedibee 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
