Reluctantly, given the fixture backlog we already have, tonight’s outstanding League Cup tie Vs Berwick has been called off due to the rain-fall already delivered and forecast between now and start time. No restaging date has yet been agreed. Next meeting at Ashfield will be this coming Sunday (15th June) in the deciding leg of our Knock Out Cup, 1st Round tie, against Rye House. I'd put it the other way round and applaud clubs who are giving a local youngster a go when needing an NL guest. i know its academic now. Ryan has come on leaps and bounds though in the last year or so and although he still has a fair bit to go the guest bookings he has got so far this season from clubs traveling north (he's had a couple of outings at Edinburgh) can only help. He's learning all the time which is good to see and keen as mustard I may be the one who has misunderstood but I thought he was hinting that he was pleased that we would have been using a junior rather than giving the booking to someone more experienced! I meant I agreed that its good Berwick (and others) have gone down this route and I would emphasise the praise to the clubs rather than the no disrespct bit. As far as I am led to believe double headers are a financial nightmare another thing that concerns me is lack of home meetings at ashfield i.e no revenue coming in the last sunday home meeting against Scu**horpe was called off about an hour before wouldnt have bee very good for Glasgows bank account having to shell out travelling expenses for the riders back in the day when I got to know about these things I reckon it would have cost the promotion about £2000 give or take which they will have to find from somewhere Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Lioness Posted June 10, 2014 Report Share Posted June 10, 2014 I suppose its a balancing act they have to figure out between double headers and back to back meetings Sunday/Monday. For me its a no brainer, Sunday/Monday when you face a 60 mile round trip just to get there means you pick one or the other that week so its 2 less full price admissions for the club in our case. Double headers on the other hand the promotion have to give gate concessions to get people through the gate so you get less overall on average for everyone than if everyone attended Sunday/Monday (which they wont).
