blueherb777
Of course they don't, but they do have control over what they charge people who went last night, how can they justify charging 50% for 3 races and a farce of a 4th heat Fact is, the first heat should never have gone ahead, but they did it so they can charge fans Spot on. And the reason I will not go to a meeting when there is the threat of rain. Edited July 29, 2014 by AJ is King

greyhoundp
Dear me, £6 to another Kings meeting, so fans paid £6 to watch 4 races. It's no wonder fans are being lost that's nothing less than daylight robbery. Here was a chance for some good Pr by Kings instead they find another way to alienate fans. The Sport is dying on its feet and promoter's seem incapable of doing anything except helping it on its way.
cityrebel
Regarding the readmission policy in the uk. I think it is unfair on the fans to get no discount if a result is declared from heat 10 onwards. We pay our money at the turnstiles for 15 races and we should be refunded if we don't receive that. I suppose cricket and tennis fans might feel the same way. Getting back to last night, I was quite surprised on entering the stadium to see how much water had been put on the track pre meeting. Did no one look at the rainfall radar, to realise how close the wet stuff was.
Guest
Why was the match set for June 9 (as in thread title!!!) called off? I have tried to find a reason by looking back through this discussion and it may be that I have missed it somewhere for which I apologise. EDIT: I now see from the excellent Kent Kings website that the previous match was postponed because of rain! http://www.kentkings.co/news.php?extend.170.1 Edited July 30, 2014 by Guest

But that's "the wonder of speedway..." Elsewhere on the BSF, a clarification of rained off meetings was stated as: "Should it be necessary to abandon the main Meeting before Heat 12, your admission ticket will be valid for re-admission to the re-staging of today's event or any of the next 3 home meetings, excluding BSPA Shared Events. The re-admission charge will be based on a reduction on normal admission, of £1 for adults for every heat NOT completed. eg If the meeting is cancelled after Heat 9 a discount of £3 will apply - the difference between heat 9 and heat 12." Well that's kind of the point I'm making, why should Kent charge £6 (50% of the admission fee), for only 3 races I say 3, because the 4th race was a farce, the riders couldn't even lean on the corners and stayed upright through fear of falling Fair play to them all for giving it a go, but they need to think about the fans who travelled there, and on top of that paid an additional 2 quid for a programme which was the original programme from June 9th with an insert. I'm a floating fan, I have no loyalty to Kent Kings, my team closed years ago, I will continue to watch speedway, but maybe not at Kent
greyhoundp
So in accordance with BSPA Kent should be allowing £8 for the 8 heats not run. Jeez it's no wonder speedway is in such a mess either they don't know the rules or they make them up as they go along, either way it's a sad indictment of the way the Sport is being run, it either needs an independent body or an independent person with knowledge appointed for a 3 year term to run the Sport. The way things are going there won't be anything left to run soon.

Well that's a concept massively flawed and NOT actually any sort of rule or even guideline. after all it would depend on how much people paid to get in surely? At Kent it's £12 so a £1 'refund' per heat not run would be worth more than the same £1 for a meeting at, say, Rye House where admission's £16.. Clearly a percentage rather than a £1 per race makes more sense. Oh and it's heat 10 where results are declared now not 12.
New Cross Ranger
Having driven all the way to Central Park on a couple of occasions only to see cars pulling out of the car park as I'm pulling in due to a cancelled meet I now check the weather at about 4o/c and if rain looks more likely than not I don't bother setting out.
