Kent V Leicester 9th June

Recommended Posts

My theory is that the track somehow got waterlogged and they just said it was because of the forecast.

And what sort of crowd is going to turn up next Monday - British Speedway Championship is on Sky and World Cup on ?

one of my mates that turned up there last night was told that the meeting was off because of a 'threat of thunder' which is more or less the reason given on the website.

the thing is mike, the forecast had changed by lunchtime. Surely as a promoter you have to give the meeting every chance of being run. Some of those fans that turned up last night will think twice about making a return visit.

I don't disagree Tony, but if I had made my mind up not to go (and Paul can corroborate that) how many others might have done the same? Admittedly in hindsight I was rash but after the last time we stood outside together watching the clouds (not) drift by you can understand anyone not local perhaps erring on the side of not going, and you have to admit the forecast was awful). But I accept that if I were in Len's shoes I may have delayed a bit (it was only Leicester and not Glasgow after all)....think we have to give Len balance of doubt this time....see u soon x

The scenario, Im a casual fan living local to Kent Kings, beutiful sunny summers evening.

I think i will go to the Speedway this evening, so i put my shorts and shades on, when i get there its off (due to a waterlogged Track) Im thinking to myself, is someone having a laugh, it aint rained all afternoon..

You when you score own goals like this, it one heck of a lot to get these people along to the Speedway again, they will choose to go elsewhere, where they can chill, and have some entertainment, and a :drink: .

Looks like Kent will be at full strength tonight (except Freemantle's not back yet), to face the Lions. There's a comprehensive preview on the Kings' website. With Oliver and Daniel Greenwood (they're not brothers! Who knew?), Toms Perry and Woolley, Max Clegg, Sam Chapman, and R/R for James Sarjeant, they will present a challenge. However, they made heavy weather of a home tie against Mildenhall yesterday, only winning 50-43. Kent fans will be hoping Lambo continues his run of fine form and that Magic is fully recovered from his kidney(?) infection. Benji is rumoured to have thrown caution to the wind and will perhaps be pressing his new engine into service. We're all hoping Ben Morley can rediscover his early season form and that Aaron Baseby can weigh in with a solid contribution. Our two reserves should at least be looking to restrict Sam Chapman to a nil return. Danny Ayres (new nickname Bladder Man - friend him on Facebook to find out why) needs to convert passion and bravery into composure and points (you don't have to do it all in the first couple of laps). As for Jason Garrad? More of the same I think.

On the subject of Facebook, and having already mentioned Brandon Freemantle, he's advertising a GM engine for sale. Anything we should know?

Finally, fingers crossed the weather forecasters are mistaken. Rain. rain go away. Incidentally, to become an honorary member of The Whistle Gang, all you need to do is turn up at Central Park with a whistle and join in. Blow your whistle!

Best of luck to the Lion Cubs tonight. Hope the rain stays away. Talking of bravery lets hope Silver and Sandford throw caution to the wind and don't bottle it too early like last time

Now this one should have been postponed earlier in the day as all the forcasts were for heavy rain in the evening,,,would have saved a lot of time and exspence for all .......

I agree but imagine the flack the management would have got if it had stayed dry.....

The Kings management have already got details in regard to te postponement on their website. It also appears on several Facebook links that they have. Well done Kings for keeping people informed.

Scandalous, that may just be the last they see of me and my kids

One thing is for sure, I will never go again if rain is predicted

From King's website: All holders of rain-off tickets from last night will gain admission on production of the ticket at any future Speedway meeting at Central Park this season at Adults at £6 and Teenagers at £2.

uh oh!

Why? Kent Kings have no control over the weather?

Of course they don't, but they do have control over what they charge people who went last night, how can they justify charging 50% for 3 races and a farce of a 4th heat

Fact is, the first heat should never have gone ahead, but they did it so they can charge fans
