Belle Vue V Lakeside 9/6/14

Recommended Posts

Sky seemed to be anti Hammers tonight for some reason or maybe i am just being paranoid? anyway typical show from them, always going on about the weather then making no effort to get the meeting through with heat 15 being completed right on the two hour mark, clearly have not learnt a thing from the recent rain affected meetings.

Pretty much par for the course I'm afraid - no you are not being paranoid.

I also thought he was looking away from PK but I can't be absolutely certain - it'd be great if someone can confirm it.

Definitely looking right, towards Gate 4, during the entire time. So unless Nicholls can see out his arse (albeit Pearson & Tatum believe the sun shines out of it) then there is NO WAY he saw PK move (all of a centimetre I should add).

What Tatum has basically alluded to is that the most respected rider in our sport is a cheat.

If I was PK, when Sky next show their faces at Lakeside, I'd have Tatum on that accusation face to face.

Despicable comment from a supposedly 'unbiased' professional commentator!

He didnt call him a cheat. He suggested that PKs movement may have been a factor. "may" have been a "factor" not it was the sole reason or that PK had done it to sucker Scott in.

Just a quick word about the weather because I doubt if you could see the black clouds behind the main stand. Driving home, the M60 & M62 had both had a soaking so it just missed the stadium.

After that rubbish at Leicester on Saturday, my faith has been restored by this cracking meeting :approve: I was even enjoying it before heat 8 and when others were complaining - it must be because the riders don't often get strung out at Kirky Lane and it was clearly going to the wire.

Zagar was imperious, Stead, Schlein and Robson full value and Palm Toft really punches above his weight. From making up the numbers he's put nearly two points on his average and simply doesn't know when he is beaten.

That's the second high quality meeting I have seen at Belle Vue this season and, at about 30 minutes from my home, I am genuinely considering buying a season ticket in 2015.

Nicholls wasn't looking left or right, he was looking at the tapes directly in front of him.

So it is possible he saw PK out of the corner of his eye, and PK did move.

No. He honestly wasn't.

I was specifically watching Nicholls to see if he could trap again out of Gate 2.

He was definitely, beyond any doubt whatsoever, looking towards his RIGHT during the entire time.

Thanks to ABS I broke even by putting £1.50 on the draw but those idiots, laughing boy in particular, cost me a free night at Belle Vue.

Not happy.

I did Lakeside +2.5 and +4, so a good night. Like you, not happy, really wanted a 4-2 in heat 15.

Why would a rider off gate 2, be looking at the magnets all the way over at gate 4 rather than those closest to him on the inside? Make little sense.

I though the same as Catch22 actually, I thought he was looking directly at the tapes in front of him old school style, but I'm obviously wrong.

Short straights mean riders cannot get that far ahead on speed alone, there wasn't a lot of passing tonight, on a slick track, however, the riders were never strung out along a long straight, riders were always nipping at the rear wheels of the riders in frontof them, hence it gives spectators satisfaction because passing is mostly always attempted and makes the racing close...

I think it was a good meeting for the TV viewer, close quarters racing, a couple of spills, tapes incidents, lesser riders winning against better riders (based on their main teams league status)

Bit of controversy, chance of rain, no team far enough behind to use the tactical ride and a last heat decider....! What more can you want........

Excellent performance by the Aces considering most expected them to lose without Cook.

Congratulations to Lakeside on the draw but with two guests, who probably did better than the riders they replaced and r/r for Cook netting only 5 paid 6, they should have won.

Despite some of the comments on here I thoroughly enjoyed it. There we some good races and the tightness of the scores added to the entertainment.

I can't see it been deliberate to get Watt of gate 4, If it was surely it would of been wiser to have Palm Toft go through the tapes as he was more likely to come last against Robson, Zagar and Watt anyway rather then have Zagar start 15metres back.

It was deliberate, it was admitted as much about 3 times throughout the broadcast.

Zagar was confident he could catch and pass them, indeed he was almost with them by the time they exited turn 2. Had Palm Toft gated, which was the plan it could have worked out.

Not saying it was a wise thing to do though.

Hmm, Leicester mentioned twice on Belle Vue v Lakeside.....

Why the need? Gater1, don't get drawn in to this long term, personal, attack by Robert72 against the Leicester promotion... He picks up dissatisfied speedway flotsam and jetsom as he goes, don't get drawn in as I suspect you have a team to support and are not happy with their performances this term, but don't want to slag them off on your own threads, fair enough, just set up a faux ID like others do and vent your spleen at your team with no chance of retribution!!

It was meant to embarrass Lakeside, Zagar to win heat 1 off 15 metres, if he had have won that race, BelleVue would have stormed the meeting...
