Belle Vue V Lakeside 9/6/14

Recommended Posts

There is a window between 3PM and 9PM in the rain so provided the rain beforehand doesnt do too much damage and they get a move on with the meeting there is a chance it will go ahead, has the look of another ten heater if it does!!!!

he problem is the rain/storms of today are convective, and this means there isn't a band of rain/showers moving in a specific direction/speed.. The rain/storms are spawning all over the oche today!! Bubbling up here, to die 30 miles further up the road.. If you get a storm today, it lays seeds for other storms later, convection of the moisture in the air and evaporation and then convection of the rain from previous storm/s.. This morning a storm brew from absolutely nothing over Hereford, grew to huge proportions by the time it hit Stoke, only to die back to nothing by the time it got to Manchester, the storm you're having at the moment was just a small thunderless shower an hour ago over Chesterfield.... It will calm down, when it cools down......

*cough*

Track covers ???

Now, covers would work on a day like today.....

The absence of Cook is a major blow. He has been on great form in his last two home matches, paid 15 and paid 13. The best we can hope for is r/r wins for Scotty and Simon, which is doubtful.

Lakeside have two guests who are at least adequate replacements.

A Lakeside win unless all of the Aces are on top form.

TORRO TORNADO WATCH 2014/003

A TORNADO WATCH has been issued at 1045GMT on Monday 9th June 2014

Valid from/until: 1045GMT - 2100GMT on Monday 9th June 2014, for the following regions of the United Kingdom & Eire:

Parts of (see map)

NE England

Lincs

Midlands

E Anglia

THREATS

Tornadoes; hail to 30-40mm diameter; wind gusts to 60mph; CG lightning

SYNOPSIS

Shortwave trough moving NNE across the area has promoted elevated thunderstorms this morning across W Midland, ref. TCD002 below. Surface observations of temperature and dewpoint close to the cluster, especially the SE side of it (currently over N Midlands) suggest that surface-based activity is possible. Backed low-level flow ahead of this cluster suggests low-level rotation is possible, and low LCLs suggest a risk of tornadoes. Deep layer shear is sufficient for cell organisation and possible supercells, with the risk of large hail/damaging winds. The highest risk is with this cluster, from ~Derbyshire NNE through W and S Yorks to N Yorks, over the next few hours. Other storms, perhaps severe, may form to the SE of this cluster, also with the risk of large hail/tornadoes, although the risk lowers with SE'wards extent, due to 1) veering low-level flow as frontal system moves NE, and 2) cirrus shield from multiple MCSs over the near continent..

Is it just me or has the G P been one of the major causes of the downfall of British speedway ie weekends, riders to busy to ride over here etc,and now at the drop of a hat they rearrange a meeting that causes 3 riders(not to mention Worrall who is riding in another G P challenge) to be missing from an official elite league match.Which happens to be live on tv a meeting that now has 4 regular team members missing and making a good close meeting into an odds on away win which all makes the elite league look like a joke to anyone who watches it on sky.

Can any tell me how the G P organisers have the power to do this to just take 3 riders at short notice out of an official meeting when all 3 riders riders have contracts to ride for their elite league teams possibly affecting Belle vues gate and skys viewing figures.

I am at a loss that everyone seems to have the right to just walk all over British speedway.

Surely this meeting will be postponed on the same basis as the lakeside meeting at poole last season?

Not ideal I know but had Cook not just rolled over and had his tummy tickled last season we wouldn't have a precedent to rely on would we?

To be fair I don't know what will do more harm to speedway's credibility, postponing the meeting at shortish notice but with a very valid reason (football matches are postponed due to 'international' commitments on a regular basis) or running the meeting with several guests on national tv letting the world watch as speedway makes a fool of itself again.

Not often we agree, but you are spot on here. Lakeside wouldn't have a leg to stand on either.
