Home Grown Rule

Recommended Posts

I know people have suggested having a rule where a minimum amount of Brits must be in each team, but it cannot be done due to certain discrimination laws?

How about a 'Home Grown' rule like with the Premier League in Football? Where someone is considered 'home grown' if they were signed to a club for 36 months before there 21st birthday.

Could a similar rule help Brits in the Elite League?

All you need is a gentlemens Agreement like in the old NNL and NL days of Only British or Commonwealth riders which acted as a feeder system for the BL. A rule which lasted years and if I remember correctly was only broken/tested when RyeHouse signed Peter Schroek and Jens Rasmussen I think Ronnie Russell was the promotor.

Hopefully the FastTrack system with a few tweaks will provide more British riders for PL teams and the development will continue so they step up to EL and international level.

How come the Poles insist on every team having 2 Polish reserves under 21 in the Polish top division if this anti-discrimination exists. This rule doesn't exist, if it did how come riders have had a reduction in their elite league average for simply being British. Edited by New Science

When it comes to sport you can drive a coach and horses through the regulations, when I looked into this properly a few years ago it wouldn't have been a problem at all.

What the law actually says and what people assume it says are two completely different things in many cases.
