Saturday 7th June 14, Weather Warning, Most Of England, Wales & Southern Scotland.

Recommended Posts

Met Office just issued a weather warning for the areas mentioned in the post title.

Don't know how to add a picture, so here goes...

Basically a typical June Plume of very warm and unstable air will track up into the UK overnight Friday into Saturday, resulting an a very wet day for most. The rain will mostly be heavy, prolonged and thundery, with thunderstorms for a lot of areas, the storms will track north through the day and we could see some very large rainfall totals..

There is a little uncertainty in the plume timing and its exact track up through the UK, further info will be made available as the forecast enters real time.

Lioness - please could you tell me what VCC stands for in your Signature - I'm both intrigued and impressed - or I would be if I knew what it meant?

Genuine question.

Cheers.

and therein lies a major issue for speedway in this country...

in the 'good old days' (?) if there was a chance of rain or even if it was raining leading up to the start time you would decide on the likely hood of the meeting taking place and if '50/50' was the call you still attended as you felt that the riders, promoters, refs and managers would do everything they could to put the meetings on and a rain off was something they wanted to avoid at all cost...

now if its not at least 90/10 in the favour of the meeting taking place you simply (especially away having been turned over more than once) decide it simply ain't worth attending given the costs including fuel that are involved.. .

still, those who run speedway can blame the world cup this year for the inevitable yearly drop in attendances rather than wake up and try fix the fundamental operational issues, which are the true reasons people leave the sport annually.....

Its National Virtual Curling Club. Although it sounds bizarre 'virtual' is the name applied to newer curlers as opposed to those who have played for years since they were kids (we are are 'virtually' less experienced was I believe how they came up with the name about 10 years ago). I skipped the winning team this season after beating all other teams from all over the country which is just incredible for my age and experience - most have played longer than me. It means I am a national champion which is a bit overwhelming!

Nowt to do with speedway but something I am very proud of :)

That is BRILLIANT!! :t:

Congratulations Lioness. :approve: :approve:

I AM impressed. :)

It may have cleared Glasgow by say 11/12 noon Sunday, and the actual path is not set in stone yet, a cold front moving in through Wales and east through the Midlands on Saturday will complicate and is likely to effect the plumes exact path as it is pulled north, it could end up being forced into the north sea, which would reduce its impact on mainland UK, meaning the worst of the weather would be over Eastern England .. perhaps no direct impact on Southern Scotland.. As I said, details will be firmed up as the data predictions leave F.I and move into real world time....
